I HAVE A COUSIN IN San Rafael WHO HAPPENS TO BE ONE OF THE VC PROGRAMMERS FOR NBA 2K SERIES but of course his name is confidential. Here are few bird's eye view for ESPN 2k5:
1. The movie clips we've seen so far were only updated from graphics presentation of players and little gameplay.
2. ESPN 2k5 will have a major revamped not only on graphics' side but on the gameplay itself to attain an almost perfect NBA sim game and not an ARCaDE NBA live type.
3. The disgusting frequent "semi-hook shot will be minimized and there will be a lot of new animations and moves like LAY-UP with a TAp board.
4. ISOMOTION will be totally improved and versatile on both offensive and defensive plays.
5. FRANCHISE MODE is going to be very DEPTH..
6. AI players will now react and response faster in offense and defense.
7. ADDITIONAL SIDELINE AND post game interview by TAFOYA will be included plus an IMPROVED Commentaries.
So far these are the few tips given to me by my cousin and he promised me to send updates now and then.. He assured me THAT NBA GAMERS will now be satisfied and 5 months before the release date are a LONG WAY for them in order to fix the game and give us THE BEST NBA SIMULATED GAME.... I really CAN'T WAIT!!! [/b]

Ask him for details. Every game has the improvements you listed every year.

I'm still wear of believing till we see some of this, no one on ESPN really believed you, and some of those things lited were already mentioned by the compan, not all but some.

Hmmm, has anyone noticed live is much more of a simulation game now too, and with sliders its not hard to adjust to result in realistic game stats and simulation?
pfm030 wrote:3. The disgusting frequent "semi-hook shot will be minimized and there will be a lot of new animations and moves like LAY-UP with a TAp board.
Live is also putting in tap boards and stuff like that...
pfm030 wrote:4. ISOMOTION will be totally improved and versatile on both offensive and defensive plays.
Is this the feature thats like live's freestyle, which is being improves vastly...
pfm030 wrote:5. FRANCHISE MODE is going to be very DEPTH..
Live says the same thing....
pfm030 wrote:6. AI players will now react and response faster in offense and defense.
Live's AI reacts very will with the 10 man control feature or what ever its called...
pfm030 wrote:7. ADDITIONAL SIDELINE AND post game interview by TAFOYA will be included plus an IMPROVED Commentaries.
Marv and Czar make for possibly the best commentary team in a video game that i've seen, so live's already ahead in that department in my opinion...
All in all, live is offering the same type of improvements and more, now if they actually make them is another story, but who knows if espn will either. I'll still go with live because since 2k2 i haven't liked the espn/sega basketball franchise, though the gameplay is supposidly more simulation i just can't stand it...

Yeah. It is more of a cheap knock-off. It has no real use and everytime you use it you run into the cpu who draws a charge or steals the ball all of the time. You can't even control the crossover. You move the analog in any direction and the player just starts randomly dribbling. Not just a crossover, but more of a robotic shake-and-bake. Then the CPU steels the ball or draws a charge.

^what a great feature

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT THE 2K SERIES COMES OUT WITH IT WILL NEVER COMPARE TO THE ALL- STAR WEEKEND AND FREESTYLE AIR
SO IM SORRY 2K5 WILL NEVER BE PLAYED BY ME
Tue Jul 20, 2004 10:23 am
I bet their pretty glad it won't be played by you.
Stop posting in Caps..

The 2K series has been better than Live since it came out. The graphics were about 10x better than Live last year, and no matter how much "improved" Live's graphics look, they still won't compare to 2K5's.
ESPN's gameplay is much more realistic than Live's. Some of you might not be used to it, or don't prefer it as much as Live's gameplay where every team plays the exact same way with the exact same style.
I don't give a damn about some stupid Slam Dunk Contest. If I want something like that, I can go play ESPN College Hoops, which I already know will be better than March Madness.
And who the fuck really cares about Freestlye or Freestyle Air. ESPN's IsoMotion is pretty weak, that's why I change the Controller Configuration so the Right-Thumbstick is used for passing.
But I'm not too crazy about Live's Freestyle or it's "Pro Hop." They're just two cheesy features used to attact gamers who are just looking for a basketbal game -- ANY basketball game -- to own.

hahahahah gloveguy ur joking right
every game that espn produces is just a cheap rip off from ea's games
anyway espn isomotion is crap the gameplay is crap and it doesnt matter which team u play with the gameplay is the same. at least in live the teams play with thier respective styles ex. nj nets run the court
the lakers set up the half court set.
listen espn has the graffics and thats the only thing ill give u evry thing else is a rip

No. I'm sorry but you're just wrong. That's not how it is.

Why don't they just keep the hook that was in NBA 2K3, and get rid of the one that was in 2K4...also, shooting needs to be reworked...other than that, 2K4 wasn't really all that bad, tho I sold it..(I needed the money, and it was 1yr old...I really am looking forward to what each developer (EA, Sega) can bring this year...I will read the reviews 1st, then I will buy the better game.

I'll just buy both; 2K5 for $20...definitely.

Why RENT ESPN NBA Basketball for $7+ when you can buy it for about 10-13 bucks more?

I usually like the 2K series but this video has me a bit iffy
Yao Ming crossover
Tim Duncan slam with Head so far above rim, arms actually stretch forward parelled to rim! In other words he is shoulder about rim!!!
Marbury Dunk from free-throw line?!?!
Most of the dunks seem as if guys are gliding and hardly get off they feet, then others, guys seems to soar ridiculously through the air.

LMAO, I said something about that video a while back about Marbury dunking. It look like they lowered the goal to 7 feet or something and the players can just grab rim without jumping

I deleted that video so fast off my computer.

That was the first video that the developers released. Don't be so gullible to think that those problems won't be rectified by the game's release.

i dont understand why such an obvious espn fanboy would continue to post on a live forum. you do understand why they lowered the game to 20$ right? the game has never been as good as live nor will it ever be.

And you're not a Live Fanboy? They lowered the game to $20 to attempt to get more sales figures. Live, Madden, NHL, MVP Baseball, they all get more sales figures because of the name behind them. EA Sports revolutionized the sports gaming industry and with that they have a great name among several people who buy a baseball, basketball, football, and/or hockey game just because they think it will be godly because EA Sports made it. The times have changed. Visual Concepts is catching up in terms of gameplay, franchise mode and graphics at an alarming rate for EA if they have not already caught up (which I, personally, believe they have caught up).
Both games have ups and downs. There's no point to be arguing over a video game, can't you guys just act mature and respect opinions?
Wed Aug 04, 2004 5:51 am
hey i fully admit to being a live fan boy which is why i am posting on this site instead of on the espn site saying how live will be better in a million in 1 ways.

I've been at this forum since Live 2000 was around. I try to stay away from Live fanboys like you and keep myself in the NBA Talk and General Talk Sections. But when we're going to talk about ESPN, I will speak up.
You clearly missed out on the Dreamcast days of NBA 2K1 and 2K2 if you really think that Live has always been better. It wasn't even close during those years.
Sales don't mean shit. That doesn't prove what game is better. VC is being smart now by reducing the prices because it could potentially help their fan base for next year.

Actually I am not gullible and I know that, just look at the shorts on some teams they aren't even finished.
The problem I have is them leaving those horrendous dunk animations from last years game in.
They should have burned those animations.
Plus Yao should NEVER, crossover and Then SOAR for a dunk! And Kobe barely left his feet on a leaner when Kobe jumps high on his jump shots.
