The Official "Piss off with these official threads"

Geez I'm getting sick of it, every bloody thing that happens needs an "Official" thread, ffs unless its something important or USEFUL (i.e, Official Kobe Thread) dont do it... I have now vented

yeah another forum i used to go to had an entire flame board (you know, like General Talk, NBA Talk) and it was pretty cool, nothing was ever taken serious there, there was like "The official flame the person above you thread" it was pretty cool

Unfortunately, they don't work. People end up fighting there just like any place else, and it inevitably gets more vicious...bad feelings result etc.

Having a flame board would defeat the purpose of enforcing a no-flaming rule...

Thats the whole point, it will be contained in that thread and not cluttering up other threads all over the boards with off topic posts!

No it wouldnt, it would be the complete opposite, having all flames in 1 thread wouldd mean we no longer needed a "no-flames rule" because all the flames would be in 1 place, The Flame Thread which is where they are ment to be!

This is a good idea, especially for this forum, it would end alot of the petty argueing. But thats not to say it wouldnt work, obviously everybodys got to follow the new rule and if we do, it can only mean 1 thing......A better Forum!

the reasons most flames occur is because of a difference of opinion in some topic. They're going to post their thoughts and then if someone disagrees with them and somthing starts they won't just say let's keep this going in the other thread they'll keep posting what they're thinking there.

What if its off topic, which it is most of time, this belongs in another thread and not cluttering up another persons.

All this just to know if there should be a flame thread...what's fun flaming people in a thread that's made for that anyway

As much as I'd love to see flaming how it used to be, with the way the forum is run and mostly the kind of people who now post here, it wouldnt happen. The thread would have novelty value straight away and I'd pretty much guarantee the first "Flame" would be a joke one. It'd just continue from there and be redundant after a while. However, 2/3 years ago a flaming thread would've been very very successful
