multi language support

Hey Andrew, I don't know if your php database allows it but a multi language support would be very helpfull for way a loooot of visitors of nba-live.com ; it should increase the number of visitors and make the site more accessible and that's the aim isn't it ?

anyway, if your interface allows it, i can offer my skills to translate the site in French, and I'm sure that many people will do the same to translate it in Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, and so much more ... :)

Do you mean the language packs for phpBB forums?

not only for the forums, but for the whole site !

indeed, a language pack for the forum could be quite useless : if you want to post and to read here, you already need to master english, so if one is able to read the posts, he doesn't really need a translated interface :)

But translating the rest of the site (the main page, the tutorials, the menu etc...) would really help people who don't master english ! :) I hope that's technically possible and easy to implement

Unfortunately it isn't possible. The web server doesn't support PHP.

Multi language support would be a neat thing... but I think you have to lay out the pro's and cons...

so far, pro: lots more visitors (theoretically)
con: lots of work

So, would the theoretical visitor increation be worth the incredible workload? Maybe a poll should be started once the method is figured out?

It is, but the Downloads Database is on the dynamic server, the same as the forum.

Yea, If you find a way to do it, and decide to make it, I could make a Swedish translation

Wouldn't this mean that every news post us NLSC members make would have to be translated as well? :S That would be kind of tricky...

that would be easy : designated translators could translate at any time every news. If a news is not translated in a language supported by the site (well, for instance, French), the news will remain in english as long as it will be translated :)

That's basically my reservation about providing translations - keeping everything up to date. Also, I only speak English, so unfortunately I can only provide technical support and answer emails in English.
