ok, I thought I'd start a tread that lets us share some good movie tips.
I got this idea after i realied how novice the NLSC is when it comes to movies...

first of i'd like to recomend that people run to the nearest video store and buy:
 Battle Royalle
 'Vita e Bella' (It's a wonderfull life)
 The bridge on the river Kwai (o the irony)
 Kikujiro's Summer
 Monty Python and the holy grail
 Monty Python's life of Brian

[some rules]: no bullsh*t movies... for example; please don't come here and start praising 'From Justin to Kelly'

So... we're talking non-american films here? Even if we aren't... I recommend this...

No Man's Land
Dir: Danis Tanovic
Oscar for Best Foreign Film of 2002
Country: Bosnia & Herzegovina

i'd never heard of Ichi....
the one i was talking about is called "Battle Royale" where the japanese governments or something passed a law where students are taken to some island and have to kill each other or something.... I didn't understand it completely because it was in japanese

I got Battle Royalle 2 on my computer, but sadly, I can't find any subtitles for it.

Slam harder: Tokfan! Kikujiro's Summer is great
hehe. I like those bikers, especially the skinny bald one.
the main character, Beat, is realy funny in it aswell --- Tokfan :)

I'd like to ad
 Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (ofcourse) :)
 Apocalypse Now (Redux)
 Léon

here in the philippines, the current fad seems to be importing asian horror flicks because of the success of the ring. now most of the movies here are ones with a common noun as the title, i.e. the ring, the grudge, the phone. a little too much IMO. the first 2 or 3 movie of the kind was good but after a while... just waiting for 'the clit' to come.... heheheh

:). Don't remember any bikers, maybe I missed that part, anyway the pool scene was quite funny :) Otherwise I have to say that the movie was to slow in my taste, but that is just my taste

Is that the one with the fatman who eats so much and in the end blows up, cause that was the only scen I like about that movie if it was that movie that will say. Life of Brian is great though (y), I remember that scen with with someone who had a cousin or something that had a really funny name, damn what I laughed @ that scene

That sucked, maybe not sucked but it wasen't more than solid. But I have to say that before I saw it I had real big hopes on it, so it dissapoint me a bit or a lot actually. Cool to see Portman @ the age though, she is hot in SW EPI II

I'm not so sure about the rulez here, is it just no hollywood movies and no movies that everyone have seen or what :?:

 Once we were warrior, "solid movie"
 Turkish version of[b]Lorf of the ring [b],

my fair lady is a wonderful movie. great movie for its time and great actors and actresses. not much of a comedy but the musical aspects are phenomenal. not sure if this is an american film or not. since every actor appears to be british but it was made by warner brothers so i dunno...

great movie but many people don't appreciate it since it's too "classic" for them.
