Aguero is having a medical at Man City atm. Seems like it's pretty much official now. :(

I read that Arsenal have made a bid for Mata too. I suppose I'd rather him go there then City, United or Chelsea.
Liverpool are linked with Alvaro Perreira. I'm optimistic because Porto have recently bought a new left back from Brazil.

I read that the price for Mata is like £13.5m. If that's true then it will be a huge bargain.

A Brazilian goalkeeper is to be prosecuted for attempted murder after a sickening attack during an U19 match.

Sport Recife goalkeeper Gustavo violently kung fu-kicked Vasco da Gama's Elivelton in the neck and was sacked by his club when footage of the incident emerged.

The referee immediately cancelled the match after the incident as Elivelton was rushed to hospital but remarkably he has escaped without serious injury.

Police have already talked to the victim plus five other players from Vasco, while they have made plans to interview the 18-year-old perpetrator and five of his now former team-mates.

However, the police officer in charge of the case has already confirmed his intention to charge Gustavo with attempted murder.

Elivelton underwent a number of tests in hospital after the attack but no permanent damage was found and he has already forgiven his attacker.

"I just hope he no longer has such an attitude on the field in the future, whatever team he is playing for," he said.

The offending goalkeeper has also apologised and said he wanted to do so in person.

"I'm sorry for what I did, I wanted to speak with him personally so I could apologise to him to try and calm him too," he said.

Gustavo could be banned from football for life for his action.

Nothing less than the death penalty should be the punishment for him.

Guys, I wanna ask something about soccer rule. I'm very confused about this rule in the picture with red and yellow lines. What does that rule means? I just started to play FIFA 11 and I was inspired to be a fan of the sport. Hope someone can answer my question.. Thank you..

It means the player was offside. The yellow line shows where the last defender was when the ball was played, the red line shows where the attacking player was.

Here's a good definition:

offside occurs when the player is closer to the opposing team's goal than the opposing team's last defender.

and it's all determined at the time the ball is passed. so its good to pass it ahead when your teammate is getting a running head start and is just about to pass the last defender.

however fifa 11 is dumb and calls offsides when you shoot and the ball is deflected off of the goalie or a defender and handballs are off by default. good job EA

Never play with a Keyboard, its bad. Get a solid controller, and you will see how much better it is.

Yeah. You're right bro. Its really hard to do skills, I can only do goals with only a normal kick :| I can't even do the spin move while running towards by a defender

Red Bulls tying Arsenal?

NY Red Bulls have a nice squad actually. What disappoints me the most is that we gave away an own goal. Also we were winning 2-0 against Boca and we gave away two goals too. Hopefully Jagielka is on his way.

I was kinda meh about that game, Red Bulls has a Estonian in it (Lindpere) who is playing awesome, but never gets in the all-star game. Arsenal however..well :P

PSG will be a team to watch in the next few years though. Especially with Pastore about to sign for them. :o

Where can I find and read about FIFA, Leagues, and Clubs? I really want to understand more about this sport.. I tried to googled it, can't find any nice info.. Thank you.

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Well, pretty much there are a dozen leagues. The most known leagues are Premier League(England), La Liga(Spain), Serie A(Italy). There are more leagues and stuff, but the biggest names come from those.

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Tue Aug 02, 2011 8:47 pm

So each league has a player playing for their national team for the Fifa Brazil 2014, right? So what's with the Club?

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Wed Aug 03, 2011 1:31 am

Clubs and Nationals are different. Clubs can buy players from all over the world, while Nationals can only choose some of their own nationality players. A player can play in any club he likes(if its possible) but can only play for the nationality he represents.
