Official 2006 World Cup Thread...Italy wins 1-1 (5-3 PSO)

PKs are a dream come true for France with 10 men.

Oh well, whoever wins wins. Not a very entertaining match from my perspective but oh well, they beat the teams they had to and got where they got. That fatigue is setting in on Italy so this is probably good for them considering Trezeguet and Wiltord came on with fresh legs.


Now for the PKs. Hope this is dramatic.

Very sad that the Italians are getting booed. France has been the side making suspicious plays, elbowing and kicking ankles. Very sad that they feel its okay for a guy to do something like that just because of his name. Trash talking goes on all day long during a match so I dont see what on earth that was all about or why he saw it necessary to do so.

Agreed, wonder what made Zidane act the way he did. If we ever know, it has to be something REALLY bad to have ANY excuse as to the headbutt. Now France doesnt have either Henry, Viera, or Zidane to take penalty kicks. Who has an idea of whos taking the kicks for France?

EDIT: Italy scores the first two penalty kicks, France makes their first, but Trezeguet misses it, making it 2-1 after 2 kicks for both teams.

Fuck this, I don't think Italy deserves to even be in the finals, Grosso taking a dive against Australia and Materazzi came up to Zidane from behind and gave him a shot or something, that's why he retalliated and they send Zidane off. They pretty much cheated, but I'm not using excuses. No congrats to Italy, you shouldn't have won, but you did. Great career for Zidane.

Imagine what it would have been like if Zidane made that Goal with his head towards the end. He would have left as the hero scoring two goals and ending an amazing career. Unfortunately Buffon got to that ball and now Italy won goddamn I hate every single one of their players! especially fucking Grosso! Cloudy, I'm with you.

I feel so sad for France (especially Zidane). They played a better game during the absolute bulk of the game and really deserved a win; But, Italy managed to come out on top in the end.

Zizou's brain froze up there for a moment I recon (which was lead on by some very harsh marking on him throughout the game by his defender) and he snapped. Such a shame

As I said, he did retalliate. Materazzi came up to him from behind and gave him a shot.

It would be so funny if what started the incident was the Italian guy saying:
