Just finished Year 2 of my Knicks Association, beating Phoenix to win the title. Here's what my roster looks like at the start of Year 3:
starters;
C- Eddy Curry
PF- Channing Frye
SF- Quentin Richardson
SG- Jamal Crawford
PG- Stephon Marbury
bench;
SG/PG- Steve Francis
PG- Nate Robinson
PF- David Lee
SG- Rodney Stuckey(rookie)
PF/C- Joakim Noah
SF- Renaldo Balkman
C- Todor Sandor(rookie)
reserves;
SG/SF- Jared Jeffries
SF/PF- Carl Landry
C- Jerome James
I have lots of speed, lots of depth, and guys who can play multiple positions. But after this season, eight players are up for free agancy(Marbury, Frye, Francis, Robinson, Lee, Stuckey, Balkman, Landry). So far, Stuckey & Nate are keepers.

Hehe, Jeffx still has the patience to play with Marbury/Francis etc, I got rid of those guys as soon as I could. Nice to see I'm not the only one playing the Knicks though, they're quite fun. Although sometimes I do wish they had a couple more of jerseys. (Portland has black, red and white!)

Is Holmes still killing?
I think ive asked this before, but you havent thought about replacing Nate?
Holmes is indeed killing, I've been practicing a lot with him over the course of the last season and this one and I focussed on his speed and inside scoring, now he's a pretty complete player, he has the ability to get boards and he's got the speed to run the court this year (last year not so much, he was more of a shooter, not a creator), this year he's creating shots left and right. Last game I played he shot like 7 out of 9 three's and ended up with 46 points and 5 assists and was named player of the game.
Oh, I played Orlando last night and we have a bit of rivalry because Marbury and Richardson are there and Dwight always seems to bitch slap Frye. I was focussed on not letting Dwight go off on me, he had a quiet 13 points and 12 boards. Marbs was their leading scorer with 20 and 8 assists. Holmes shone with 32 points, 7 board and 7 assists. This from a 6'6 second year guard.
Oh and replacing Nate, I've thought about it to be honest, sometimes the more skilled taller players take advantage of his height and just pop three's right over him, but I've grown to like Nate. He's got a three point shot, his passing is quite accurate and what I've noticed this season...he's a little thief. He really has the ability to get in to passing lanes...this leads to a turn over and he's so quick, he's off before anyone even realizes, sometimes the NBA 2K7 camera doesn't even get back quick enough and all you see is Nate finishing his dunk, the take off wasn't even noticed.
He does well in the role he's been giving plus he's not expensive. In one of the pre-season games he dropped 22 points just by taking the shots that were presented to him, so no, as of now I've got no plans on replacing Nate. I don't really want to mess with the core just for the sake of it.
Even though Frye missing simple dunks is really starting to tick me off the more I think about it.

Okay, I feel like an idiot. Is there a way to edit a player's primary/secondary positions once you've started association mode? I simply CANNOT find the option to do so. The guys on the RealGM board swear up and down it's just on 'edit player' from the 'roster' tab.
Mon Jul 09, 2007 7:54 am
It isn't, you can't edit player positions, atleast I haven't found the option.
No wonder I've got like 5 SG's and no SF's. Jeffries and Webster are both SF's, add Holmes, Rush and Ellis and you've got 5 SG's and no SF's.

Francis gives me firepower off the bench(he's my leading scorer). I'm hoping Stuckey can take over that role when Francis is released. Marbury's a keeper - he's a beast in this game.
The only knock on Nate is his size - other than that, he's pretty decent. Good passer, quick, and can put a game away with his three-point shooting. Dunking is hit or miss - if no defender's around, he make it.

how'd you get Stuckey in the game? did you import from College 2k7?
Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:24 pm
Yeah i dont even think you can Edit the position of non created players outside of Association..
Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:32 pm
you can do it before you start an association in next gen but not possible in current gen
Donatello, if I remember right, in the PS2 version there's no way to edit positions in the game.

Yeah, some dude over at operationsports.com had five years of draft classes. I downloaded them via Sharkport.

Is 2k8 even going to be released? maybe EA brought them out and just havent announced it or something...? surely they should have some info by now.
Thu Jul 12, 2007 4:44 pm
They arent being bought out Lmao.. Unless 2kSports is going to have 'Info Soon' on a game they arent making
Thu Jul 12, 2007 8:03 pm
well Live is exclusive on the Wii, so no 2k8 on the Wii.
Sun Jul 15, 2007 5:03 pm
so i paid a visit to the 2k forums today, and that place was 10X worse than the NLSC ever was. fanboys defending how 2k can't even get Shane Battier, Jarrett Jack, and Daniel Gibson's numbers right for the whole year. oh also saw "our boy" Cervantes over there. traitor.

It's not. It's just a default date to put on the site because they don't have a confirmed release date. Who releases a game on January the 1st? Besides, the NBA controls the release dates. You can expect 2k8 out on October 2nd, same day as Live.
Tue Jul 17, 2007 6:20 pm
wow this game is retarded. when you can win by playing defense off the ball and mashing the steal button so it's impossible to pass (with the Rockets, mind you), it's a crap game. but man, I love Keyon Dooling.
Wed Jul 18, 2007 3:56 am
Man change your sliders then, the only time I get steals now is when they make stupidly risky passes around someones head or full court and shit. Annoying when those passes are successful.
Keyon is a god! I'm loving him in my Magic franchise, he's coming off the bench and scoring 12/13ppg which is deec, but its his fg% thats amazing. It's at like 60+% right now half way through the season. He's so freakin quick, he pretty much breaks someones ankle (when they fall to the floor) every game. I also traded for Pavlovic and him and Dooling make for a sweet backcourt off the bench.
Wed Jul 18, 2007 4:03 am
New complaint: I keep getting like 5-6 jump balls per game.
Wed Jul 18, 2007 4:28 am
well the only problem is, i play online and the games online can't be altered in any way. plus, there's a good chance you will play a guy that plays cheap like that or picks a cheap ass team like the rockets.
Wed Jul 18, 2007 4:49 am
Maybe you just played one of those people who like to exploit things. Will using a bounce pass, lead pass or a pick and roll make it harder?
Wed Jul 18, 2007 9:42 am
well that's the thing. the game will automatically make a bounce pass even though the chest pass would be a lot more efficient. the bounce passes are easier to intercept if you mash the steal button because it's slower and the steal button makes sort of a diving steal attempt. pick and rolls are pretty effective, but i don't do it enough to make up for all the steals
EDIT: dooling is a great player. he's fast so he gets you easy dunks, decent at stealing, rebounding, and he's really easy to hit 3s with once you learn his stroke.

So I just realized my beloved franchise of the Knicks will come to an end pretty soon. (Well, it technically has, since I won and kept winning, I kind of lost interest, but still...a whole year! Wow, not even Live...)
Anywho, I'm looking to rebuild a new franchise now, which other franchise has become a laughing stock of what they once used to be?
I could've said Boston a few days ago, but with KG, Allen and Pierce, hardly seems fun. Atlanta also comes to mind, but they've got so many swingmen that it'd be difficult wheeling & dealing with that roster. Plus I hardly know (their style I mean) any of the players. Knicks you still know, Marbs, Franchise, Q-Rich, etc etc.
So...that leaves me to the only franchise that's become pretty much a pathetic version of what they ought to be. The Kobe Bryant's. So, it's decided, I'm going to blow that roster up as soon as I get 2K8 and Mr. Bryant will be the first player to be shipped away. Yes, I kid you not.
Uhm, don't ask my why I told you guys all of that, I don't know. Leave me alone. Michael, stop touching me, oh stop it Michael, Mccauley might get jealous. Get your hands out of there!!!

Trade him for Durant
Or Oden
Sat Aug 04, 2007 12:05 pm
Salaries have to match though. I doubt they will for any of those two rookies.
I'll just find some large salaries that expire in the first year and sim that one year, tank the year and get a high draft pick, it worked for the Knicks, it'll work for the Lakers.
