Should've been more specific, but I meant in terms of being a chucker.

Do you remember at.the.buzzer? Do you think he had the potential of being as annoying as COOLmac?

Who's your NBA Comparison? Meaning, what player matches your playstyle.

Ever seen an NBA game live? If not, what two teams would you choose to watch live?

What NBA player would you fight? :cheeky:

Favourite movie is either The Warriors or White Men Can't Jump. Favourite line is probably something from Cool Runnings or Wedding Crashers. I love "I made you a painting" lol

I was playing Live 2000 when it first came out in late 99 and I wanted to post stuff about my franchise team. Back then you just accumulated the absolute best team possible without worrying about realism or any of that shit, so I googled Live 2000 franchise and found the NLSC. I think my first 10-15 posts were in one of the franchise sections.

Axel™ wrote:Do you remember at.the.buzzer? Do you think he had the potential of being as annoying as COOLmac?

Vaguely remember him. I think it'd be hard for anyone to match COOLmac's level of annoyance. See when he first joined he was averaging something like 50 posts per day, then he got himself banned (as TMAcool) and just re-joined the next day like "that was odd, I couldn't access the forum. Awell I'm back" and continued on his post rampage. Because he was posting so much, he pretty much had fans from the get go. Some of the dumber posters liked him because he was posting similar garbage to them, and some of the older ones were ok with his existence because they couldn't be bothered caring one way or another. So he was in a position where if we banned him there'd be a huge backlash after like a month. I think there was even a thread where people were saying they'd leave the NLSC if he was banned.

Who's your NBA Comparison? Meaning, what player matches your playstyle.

When I was younger it was probably a mix between Keith Van Horn and Charles Oakley. I didn't mind smashing people around on D and I was always a really good mid range shooter. These days it's probably more Carl Landry or something. I'm pretty good in the post and can generally score on most people there but I have absolutely no fitness left and can't maintain any level of intensity for more than 5-10 minutes.

Ever seen an NBA game live? If not, what two teams would you choose to watch live?

Nah but I'd like to, I'd probably want to see the Bucks vs Portland or something. Check out both Aussies in one game. Or Miami vs the Lakers so I can see 3 of the best players in the league at once. And Chris Bosh.

What NBA player would you fight? :cheeky:

Earl Boykins lol. Nah I like Earl, it'd be Tyler Hansbrough. He's a few inches taller than me but I think my rage at his existence would carry me over the line.

Here's one: Do you think Al Ka Pwn really was as annoying/moronic as he seemed to be, or was it some calculated trolling?

I did wonder at times, I lean towards the former being the case but there were moments when I thought he might have just been trying to push buttons.

No idea, probably something like Professor X. Being able to control minds and stuff.

Here's one: Do you think Al Ka Pwn really was as annoying/moronic as he seemed to be, or was it some calculated trolling?

I think there was a trolling element involved but overall I reckon he just thought he was some sort of psychological mastermind who could diagnose everything. A lot of the Dutch posters we've had over the years have been pretty arrogant and abrupt so his personality didn't really surprise me at all, but I think he just genuinely thought he had some deep insight into people. Once he realized he pissed people off he kept pushing it, but I think he probably also thought we were getting annoyed because he'd somehow seen something in us we're trying to hide or some shit like that.

Favourite thread probably "I cannot believe my starting 5..." because it was a pretty significant thread in the history of the NLSC off topic section.

I think generally they are retarded to be honest. One of them is a returning banned member of some sort (according to Ben's investigative skills, but I don't know which banned member it is) but really I think a lot of the replies are worse than the actual threads themselves, like that spaz fight between mandich and the other dude about Rondo and Jameer Nelson or whatever the hell it was. The NBA Talk section just makes my head hurt these days.

1) I remember reading in the past on these forums some of the older members were making reference to some Bill Cosby/Casby/Cusby inside forum joke. What was that about?
2) Your opinion on Demar Derozan, Andrea Bargnani, and possibly the Raptors?
3) Not sure if you answered this one in this thread yet (might have already): I remember reading you're an Aston Villa fan. What draws you to that team or what made you like them?

That's all I can really think of for now.

I'm not even sure to be honest, I think it was someones username. Jackal or something can you fill this in? I don't remember.

2) Your opinion on Demar Derozan, Andrea Bargnani, and possibly the Raptors?

I'm a fan of Derozan. Even though he is a bit limited offensively since he can't shoot from outside at all, he is only 21 and I think for a second year guy to be putting up 15 per game on acceptable efficiency is pretty impressive. Especially since he was a late lotto pick.

Bargnani is one of my least favourite players, mostly because he's 7 foot tall but rebounds like Russell Westbrook. I like his offensive game but he needs someone next to him to make up for his defensive/rebounding deficiencies which is a bit of a liability IMO. Would like to see him on another team that doesn't rely on him so heavily.

As far as the rest of them goes, well Reggie Evans was almost single handedly winning me the RealGM fantasy league lol the scoring heavily favors rebounding and he was dominating in that category. Ed Davis looks like he might be decent and I wish the Bucks had kept Amir Johnson. I think Jose Calderon is a bit underrated too.

3) Not sure if you answered this one in this thread yet (might have already): I remember reading you're an Aston Villa fan. What draws you to that team or what made you like them?

My great grandad used to play for them not too long after they were first formed so I've always liked them because of that. Then when I moved to England I was living in Birmingham which is where they are based so that added to it since all the news we got was related to either Villa, Birmingham City or Leicester.

I'm not too sure what the Cosby bit is about either, I think Mikki had a Cosby fetish and got his minions to go along with it for a bit, but I dont think it was something any of the cool kids did so I can't shed much light on what was going on there either.

Re: Q&A w/ Jae

Tue Jan 11, 2011 1:47 pm

All I can recall from past readings is that quite a few members who were active then decided to have the same username that's similar to Cosby. Indy or Riot got pissed about it and some of the people agreed since they don't know which Cosby (forum member) is which that was posting. The hatred was the result from seeing consecutive posts that are from the 'same' users. Kinda like some time ago when an idiot decided to have the same username as that idiot Zanshadow, now imagine that annoying occurrence 5x since the Cosby's were composed of about 5-6 members, or even more.

Do you think Barcelona can pull out another spanking on Real Madrid? Which one of the two do you support?

In your opinion, what's the best part about being an admin?

Can you explain your hate towards Tyler Hansbrough?

Do you feel uncomfortable that I'm the one asking the most questions?

Who would win in a flame war, you or shadowgrin?

Who on this forum makes you laugh the most?

What exactly did the "I can't believe my starting five thread" hold that makes it legendary?

Your opinion on (the greatness that is) Joel Anthony? (shadow would end up killing me if I don't add what's in parenthesis)

I think this is all the questions I'll ask for the rest of the thread. I don't want you getting uncomfortable or suspicious about my bombardment of questions.

Axel. wrote:Who would win in a flame war, you or shadowgrin?
I'll answer this one as people may accuse Jae of bias if he picked himself.

Jae wins. I 'measure' 'winning' a flame war when poster has the l33t skills to end 'the war', which is either by complete utter destruction of the other party or enlightening the other party of their own idiocy. Jae can do both, and since he's an admin now he can pretty much end a flame war without trying :banned:
Even before Jae became a mod and admin, he already had a reputation for flame wars. Unfortunately or fortunately, I wasn't a regular in the forums when Jae waged war in the past. My inactivity in the past coincides with his flame wars being active.

There only a few I could consider that have those flame ending abilities in the forum. Jackal, before he got soft because of Lean's sweet sweet lovin', and Matthew before he became so angry debating about Michael Jordan in Youtube comments resulting in the anger spilling over to the forums.

There are others who were able to carry long drawn out flame wars but the names mentioned above are the ones that stand out. Shane Hefty probably enjoys flame wars because he always gets an orgasm every time he types long sentences or paragraphs, Thug probably enjoys being an angry black man occasionally, while benji is just a masochist. [if you don't know these members, don't be annoying by asking who they are. search function]

I don't usually go after idiots like a rabid dog in the past. If anything I would probably compare my posting style to Tales, lots of :spam: posts only mine are less fun. I guess nature abhors a vacuum.

I think Barca will probably beat them pretty easily, but I like Real more of the two personally. I was a big Zidane fan.

In your opinion, what's the best part about being an admin?

Probably just being in a position to make changes and to deal with situations that come up on the forums. I like having that sort of responsibility, and the fact that if people are having problems with other posters they can come to me to sort it out.

Can you explain your hate towards Tyler Hansbrough?

I was watching the Bucks vs Pacers, it was like the 4th quarter Bogut had blocked Hansbrough out for a rebound. Hansbrough pushed him in the back (he wound up on the floor), grabbed the rebound and scored. Then he ran down the court glaring at Bogut like he was a bad ass  I just thought it was retarded because at that time Hansbrough had like 4 points and 6 rebounds, Bogut had 27 points and like 14 rebounds and the Pacers were losing. I just thought it was a bit retarded.

Do you feel uncomfortable that I'm the one asking the most questions?

Lol why would I feel uncomfortable? I'd probably feel less comfortable if it was the other Axel :P

Who would win in a flame war, you or shadowgrin?

Probably me to be honest lol. I've grown up and settled down a lot since I was younger but if I get angry at someone I can still flare up. When I was younger people here used to call me the flame king and all this shit, I was good at internet arguing which is sort of like saying you're good at sucking at life but whatever. Plus I'm an admin so I'd probably just change his name/custom title/avatar and sig and that'd shut him up.

Who on this forum makes you laugh the most?

Probably Ben. He sends some pretty funny PM's.

What exactly did the "I can't believe my starting five thread" hold that makes it legendary?

Well back in those days people really didn't post as much as they do now. Like I had over 1,000 posts and I was one of the top 5 posters as far as volume is concerned. The thread started off hilarious because some guy was playing Kevin Garnett at point guard, but also trying to convince us that point guard was his "natural" position and that we were all blinded sheep for not realizing it. THen it basically turned into an MSN convo/spam thread between a fair few of us, but it was easily the biggest and most active thread on the entire forum. It was the NLSC's first real spam thread I guess and before that thread there'd not been one with as many replies or as much activity. It really kick started the general talk forum.

Your opinion on (the greatness that is) Joel Anthony? (shadow would end up killing me if I don't add what's in parenthesis)

I thought he was really good last season but this year he seems largely useless. People on RealGM hate him lol but on the Heat broadcasts they always talk him up like he's the next coming of Mutombo. It's weird.

I didn't even notice you asking more questions than anyone else to be honest, I just answer them

Re: Q&A w/ Jae

Tue Jan 11, 2011 6:20 pm

Adding to what Jae said about "Starting Five", it was funny how the guy flipped out when people didn't get into the idea and pointed out the obvious in that point guard was not in fact Kevin Garnett's natural position. In retrospect, we probably got a little too caught up with it but I think a lot of that was in the way he worded the post. If he'd said something like "I wanted to try something crazy so I put KG at point guard and it's actually kind of working out for me", he might've gotten a better response.

It also evolved into a fun thread fairly organically and as Jae said, a thread hitting 1000 replies didn't happen like it does today so it was a much bigger deal.

It's not viewable. The only members who can see the archived thread are those subscribed to Lean's private channel or those who had sexy time with Lean. I also can't see/find it because of Lean.

Something along the lines of those who don't understand his idea can't appreciate KG's versatility or they know nothing about basketball in general.

So only the cool kids receive these PM's or what? I've always lol'd at his jokes.

Funny how just one move that people "assume" to be dumb can turn into a legendary thread. I'll go make a thread about how I have Earl Boykins playing center, see where that goes.

Not done yet Jae:
Are there any particular Association/Dynasty stories that you follow or check into every once in a while?

If you were to have just one more flame war (flame, but you know, still on good terms with the guy), who would you flame?

It's past the New Year now, and still no change of that avatar. What gives?

Describe the current NBA & Basketball Talk section in one word.

Where did "proof or ban" originate from?

That's likely it. Unless an urgent question pops up, this is all I'm gonna ask. :)
