Re: 808's & Heartbreak = Fail (The Kanye Thread)

I thought Graduation was the end of the school themes trilogy? I'm looking forward to what he does next. Probably something new. I got a lot of enjoyment out of all of his albums (even 808's, ironically), so hopefully we don't have to wait too long for LP5.

I may be biased towards Late Registration because it was the first Kanye album I heard. "Gone" is the best song he's ever done in my opinion.

Well, it was supposed to be a 4-album series... the 4th one's theme was going to be about getting out of college. He decided to go with 808s due to breakdown of engagement I believe.

I got enjoyment out of all the albums too. It's just that as each one was released, less of the tracks were as appealing and re-listenable (thats not a word...) as earlier albums.

I love all the tracks on College Dropout (Love Family Business, We Don't Care, All Falls Down, Jesus Walks, Two Words... I can't really pick a favourite and I would list the whole album out... the only song I am not a fan of is probably Workout Plan.)

Late Registration, I loved Roses. Also loved Diamonds From Sierra Lione. Most of the tracks were pretty good as well. The only one I dislike would be Crack Music but I still listen to it and listen to what he has to say

Graduation, I thought it wasn't too bad either. But no songs really stand out to me from that one. Drunk and Hot Girls was a shit one though. I liked Big Brother and Homecoming. I liked Stronger at first but got over it pretty quickly. Flashing Lights might be my fave track from this one.

As for 808s... I love Coldest Winter (It's a really short one I guess)... and I liked Paranoid and the song with Kid Cudi (Y)

So yes, for me:

College Dropout: 9.5/10 (maybe a bit high but it's still in my car...)
Late Registration: 8.5/10
Graduation: 7.5/10
808s and Heartbreak: 7/10 (Enjoyed it but not enough music on it...)

And Hova, do you like Universal Mind Control?

Universal Mind Control has some decent tracks but in my opinion the Neptunes are not the right choice for Common to produce an album. Some of their fancy beats just do not seem to fit with his poetic but slow style of rap. UMC had no chance to touch "Be" or "Finding Forever" at all.

Be is my favourite album of Common's. (Y)

Recently Kayne West took the mic from Taylor Swift and did some egotistical bullshit at the VMA awards. Fuck him. I thought he was changing his behavior after South Park took a shot at him.

Same Ol' jackass.

Taylor Swift, I'd hit her. What's being talked about again?

A lot of people on Twitter are of the opinion that Kanye West should cease breathing permanently.

What the hell did he do now? Taylor Swift doesn't care about black people?

At least he didn't pull a Jarvis Cocker and run across the stage mooning her.

Is Kanye West about to release a new album that's why he's acting up again to create publicity?

I love the seeing the word "fail" along Kanye's name in the title of this thread. Appropriate in more ways than one.

I thought it was kinda great. I loved how he just shrugged and handed her the mic when he left, and the look on her face.

I thought it was some sort of skit from MTV.
Agree about the look on Taylor Swift's face, funny. I like how she went from emotional near-tears happy to emotional near-tears "why is the crazy man doing this to me" look on her.

If it wasn't planned, it's a punk-ass move by Kanye.

Hehe, I thought it was funny but that's a shitty move by Kanye.

Obama called him a jackass. Kayne, not Swayze. Or Mario.
