look at this shoe... man its pretty bad mistake :P this formotion system is on inside of the shoe, and in 2k you have it on the outside

Even in the comparrisson in the first post, I'd go with 2k. The player models are def better(perfect leg size imho), they have a normal net and the players still wear shorts not skirts. I actually like the crowd in the 2k pic better. Only the ball looks fucked up.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 12:55 am

who the hell cares about shoes...

and the white guy with his hand pointing to the sky looks like Kenyon Martin to me.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 1:05 am

They also took the ESPN Integration!! I think they use AP!! 2k models look like Zombies

We don't know either game's gameplay really well because it hasn't been fully demonstrated.

But look at this comparison between live 08 and 2k8

LIVE OWNS THAT

This isn't all-start weekend though, I think EA has the copyrights to that, it's just a copycat dunk contest.

Look at the 2k dunk contest screens again, it's not on a real court, it's outside on a street court.

2k has an edge in player models for sure, EA really needs to fix the misproportuned bodies, but 2k's player faces aren't as good as live's, but 2k definitely does have better cloth physics.

The misproportuned bodies might make it hard to play live, but if they fix that I won't have any more complaints about the graphics, if 2k8 reduces the ridiculous amount of sweat and lighting making their players look like plastic, and also make's their eyes not glow - I won't have any complaint's about 2k's graphics.

Duh, that's K-Fed. He's in the game because he is awesome.

Let's hope not.

I like NBA Live's graphics better so far. The bodies seem to have more detail.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 1:43 am

all else being equal, i like 2K's shorts physics. the shorts that the Live players are wearing def looks like skirts to me!

No it's a street dunk contest with a sprite logo on it (look at the court :-p)

----

live has better graphics, they really focused on gameplay from what they've told us this year, the animations are much smoother than last year's game, and they have that neat system from nba street.

Live's AI should be much improved unless they lied to us, but andrew agrees with EA from the community event, so I really do think live will be the better game this year, it seems 2k's entire focus this year was on all pro football 2k8 (which isn't that good in comparison to madden yet)

does anybody consider the fact that neither company has released an in game screen. i dont care how good they can make it look up close. You will never see that. Replays might be close but not that good. What matters is what it looks like when you put the disc in your console(360 or PS3)

Fri Jul 27, 2007 2:17 am

Melo_Poland, you're wrong. Look at the pic again. The shoe is accurate.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 2:33 am

By the way, the Slam Dunk contest "takes place outdoors on a neon-lit court right smack in the middle of the Vegas strip."

There are also a limited amount of dunkers apparently, judging from "The roster of dunkers we were able to choose from isn't the final list, but included high-flyers such as Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Nate Robinson, LeBron James, Vince Carter, Gerald Green, Andre Iguodala, and more."

i dont see how 2k could steal the dunk contest from live when its apart of the nba game.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 3:50 am

ok, so 2k sports got the shoes looking really nice but made the players themselves look like complete shit, good idea

Fri Jul 27, 2007 4:04 am

...or how EA Sports could copyright the All Star Weekend, because that is a part of the NBA, too.

EA sounds like they're finally improving gameplay which gets me excited, we should have 2 very good basketball games to choose from.

Haven't heard that before from a game company...only to be disappointed...

Can we thumbnail these screenshots kids?

Until EA realizes there are ten players on the floor and they all interact with each other, 2K will be the better series.

Buncha graphic whores...

What a bunch of idiots in this thread...if 2K "stole" the dunk contest from EA, then EA "stole" the dunk contest from Konami (see: NBA In The Zone 99, 1998) who "stole" it from LJN (see: NBA All-Star Challenge series, 1991) (who I guess..."stole" it from EA's Jordan vs. Bird)

Exactly, the pc version is always the worst too. I did a sim game the other day with live 07 and the guy inbounds the ball, then the guy he passed it to passed it back to the guy who inbounded the ball while he was still out of bounds. Another time my pg just drove straight out of bounds, like not even near the hoop. 3 second calls are called 20 times a game because teams set picks in the paint and players are too slow to get to their spot before the guys setting the pick can even move again. Players just run in one place as they cant move because the defender is just standing in front of them, while the rest of the team waits for him to get to his spot so they can run the play. Ill never forget how the game out of box had a sub bug that wouldnt sub people out no matter how tired they got. Not to mention countless other gameplay issues that are just retarded. I feel so robbed when i bought live 07 for pc. I dont know if i can trust EA ever again. They always say they work on AI, well its always shit, so either they are lying or they really suck at programming AI. But at least the graphics are awesome. yeah.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 6:08 am

i can live with bad graphics if the gameplay is good....but the players in 2K look very bad indeed !

Thoughts on 2k's Dunk Contest (Vids Inside)

idk, it seems like its a mode that you'll hardly play..unless you and your boys are really bored...but i think they just used it to add competition,idk..i like lives better tho, but thats just me

Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:24 am

i dont see why we needed another thread for this

Fri Jul 27, 2007 7:44 am

Its seems alright not as exciting as Live's though

i own this shoes, i know what im talking about :) its reversed

Fri Jul 27, 2007 9:26 am

just finished the vid. it's pretty much EA's version of the contest with an added obstacle portion a la Street 3. *yawn*

i can't believe they spent all this time trying to catch up to EA in a mode that's completely unneccessary.

Fri Jul 27, 2007 9:58 am

Hey, I just realized who the white guy pointing at the sky is. Its Bobbito Garcia, the Slam Dunk host (and VERY annoying announcer in Street 2 and 3)...
