I was wondering the same thing as Dada  Something that I don't think I've seen is the league standings, it would be nice to see what position in the league you are :) Best of luck in getting promoted

Hartlepool Wins Against 10-Men Bradford
Red Card, Tragic Penalty Contribute to Loss

Hartlepool 1 -- Bradford City 0

Image
ABOVE: Sleiman argues against the penalty

Reuters -- Just a few days after their 4-0 triumph in the League Cup’s first round, Sven-Gorran Eriksson decided it was a good time to allow star striker Mark Moore and captain Andrew Watson to rest. He was wrong as an inexperienced run-on side suffered from two major set backs.

A red card in the 2nd minute for Russian Shchipans was sure to hurt a lot for the Bantams. The courageously played on but in the 32nd minute, things were looking grim but the team luckily dodged a bullet as Sleiman was lucky not to be sent off after a hard tackle on Hartlepool’s striker Boyd. However, the penalty that came instead hurt Bradford even more as the team went behind and stayed there for the rest of the game.

Bradford City played poorly for the full 90 minutes as the players on the field barely put anything together. Eriksson blamed it on the fact that only half the players had ever played together more than a handful of times, “It’s hard for a team to get it done without being together much. There’s a lack of chemistry as you saw today.”

Stand-in captain Andres Munoz performed well and had a few highlights including a stunning run from his end of the field to the other. He was unlucky his shot was saved by the goal keeper. “If I had put a little bit more of power, it would have gone in,” he confidently remarked after the game.

Bradford City dropped from seventh place to twelfth as a result of this loss.

Moore Helps Steady the Ship
Moore’s Hat trick Brings Smiles to Bradford Fans

Tranmere Rovers 0 -- Bradford City 5

Image
ABOVE: Dean Grant scored his first career goal

Reuters -- A lackluster effort form a number of players meant instant relegation to the bench. Will Sit, Igor Pera, Khalid Sleiman made way for Mark Moore, Andrew Watson and Sam Keon. Conrad Burry also made his first start of his career in the absence of suspended striker Ivan Shchipans.

“Rules are rules,” stated Eriksson, “If you play bad and don’t give it your all, you don’t play. We want to find the perfect formula for success.”

And success plus goals was what they got as a result of starting Mark Moore who bagged a hat trick before half time with two headers and a beautiful run of half the field. Moore’s third goal was the best of them all as he stole the ball off Hume and ran the ball from halfway and into the box. There, he faked a move with his right foot, then stepped over with his left and tricking the keeper. Moore then took the chance to strike thew ball into the back of the net to the roar of the crowd.

“It was great,” Mark said; he was all smiles, “Definitely a top ten goal for me in my life.”

Jacob Milani was the catalyst for success though as he set up both of Mark’s headers. “I think me and Mark make a good tag team,” Milani said proudly, “I can cross the ball I and he’s always going to hit them. It’s good fun.”

The second half didn’t look like it would yield the same result as the first but by the end, substitutes Bakovic and Grant made sure they could get on the score sheet too. Bakovic headed the ball into the net in the 89th minute before Andres Munoz stole the ball near halfway and went on another individual run down the field. Munoz suddenly found he was open in front of goals but the defender missed another great chance. Dean Grant didn’t miss his own chance as Munoz’s shot hit the far post and Grant came rushing in to smash back in.

“Right place, right time,” Dean stated, “Andres deserved the goal but I guess it wasn’t his day.”

Jing Xu Makes the Most of His Second Chance
Chinese Defensive Midfielder Heralded as Future Gerrard

Bradford City 2 -- Swindon Town 0

Image
ABOVE: Jing Xu says he has potential

Reuters -- If Steven Gerrard was tuning in at the time Jing Xu scored, he would have been proud how the defensive midfielder from China scored. Xu scored on a beautiful long volley from way outside of the box and sent the Bradford City home crowd into hysteria.

That was only a minute after his first attempt was just saved by goal keeper Evans and the crowd was booing.

Jing was just thrilled to score, “It was a fluke I tell you. I’m not a scorer, in fact- I can’t shoot.” When asked about Gerrard he replied, “Well, I think he’s a great player and that’s about it. I did (expletive) myself when he scored those goals in the Champions and FA Cup Finals! Now, those were great goals!”

Eriksson said he wasn’t surprised with Jing’s shot, “In public, he will deny he works. But I have to say Jing is working hard and having actually known Steven, I think Jing could one day maybe get there.”

Mark Moore scored a shot in the 82nd minute, taking advantage of Swindon Town missing one player due to a red card. Moore, the team’s leading scorer, even had a last minute chance to make it two goals. His shot went over the cross bar though, “I thought I had it (the shot) but I mistimed it and hit it over.” Moore has scored at least one goal in the last 5 games he’s played for Bradford City.

Substitute Sit Breaks His ‘Slumber’ Spell
Bradford Escape Thanks to One Late Goal

Colchester United 0 -- Bradford City 1

Image
ABOVE: Sit’s shot rockets past the keeper

Reuters -- Will Sit describes his recent play like he was sleepwalking. That isn’t a bad thing if you talk to the striker whose lack of form has hit him hard. The problem is that he makes it tougher for himself.

“I will beat myself up inside,” Sit told an interviewer a few days before their game against Colchester, “I thought I would be starting a lot but I haven’t been playing too well. There’s only myself to blame for this.”

Sit finally broke out of his ‘slumber’ (as he called his goal drought) and scored minutes after he had come onto the pitch. Sit’s shot came off his boot as he spun around to aim at the goal. Davison was caught off-guard and the ball nipped his gloves as it sailed into the back of the net.

“It was great,” an up-beat Sit said, “It was a great feeling to score again.”

Unfortunately, the start of something good meant the end of something even better as Mark Moore’s five consecutive games with at least one goal scored was broken. Moore came drastically close in the opening 10 minutes with two missed shots.

Khalid Sleiman’s return to the starting five was also a success as he stopped numerous players on his side of the pitch. “I was happy with his performance,” Captain Andrew Watson said, “I think I played pretty average today though. Let’s hope I can pick up my slack.” Jacob Milani who stayed in his midfield position also shone with many good crosses into the middle of the pitch and that only made Moore feel worse about failing to convert.

“I let the guys down, especially Jacob who did a wonderful job of getting the ball up,” Moore noted to the press.

Sit Carries Form Into Next Game
Bradford City Move Into Fourth Place

Swansea City 0 -- Bradford City 3

Image
ABOVE: Sleiman was lucky not to get booked… again

Reuters -- After scoring his first goal in many weeks, Will Sit backed up his effort with a double against Swansea City. Thanks to Mark Moore starting the scoring with a header; courtesy of an Alex Buckley cross in the 18th minute, Bradford City made a big jump from seventh to fourth place in the league.

Bradford’s defense struggled to keep their opponents at bay as Swansea ran at Bradford’s defense and often caught them napping. Andrew Watson was everywhere after vowing to play better and made it difficult for Swansea to make it into their territory. “Andrew played a good game tonight,” Eriksson praised his captain, “By leading by example, the boys got a boost.”

It was in fact Watson who stole the ball and controlled the ball with relative ease, taking it up past halfway and lobbing it in front of Buckley’s feet. It was then Buckley’s easy job to chip it into the middle of the park for Moore to head it in.

“I felt like I did a good job,” Watson analyzed himself, “I got to give credit to my team mates. We did play a good team game and capitalized on our opportunities. We have a long ways to go but that number one position is surely in reach.”

The game was fast flowing and it was a surprise that Bradford hadn’t scored more than one goal. The highlight of the first half was Valkonen running the ball up and taking a shot from outside. That shot was saved by the keeper and Moore ran in to try and tap it in but forced it over the bar.

Sit helped put his team back on track with a strike in the 53rd minute. Sit then scored his second goal of the night by running in after a missed shot by Conrad Burry.

Shock Defeat For Newcastle United
Mark Moore Comes Through in Extra Time

Newcastle 0 -- Bradford City 1

Image
ABOVE: Mark Moore saved Bradford from a penalty shoot out

Reuters -- Bradford City want to make the top. They want to play in the English Premier within three years time. And when they were drawn against Newcastle United, they were ready for the challenge.

“We want to win a tough game,” vice captain Igor Pera said, “We want to prove we can play at that level.”

Sven-Gorran Eriksson was ready the challenge and told his players to play hard and physical. That was a smart tactic as Bradford made sure Newcastle couldn’t get past them on defense. That was to the point when Newcastle’s Alan Shearer started calling defenders Sotirov and Nalgene ‘pests.’

“If he called us pests, it means we did a good job,” boasted Nalgene after the game.

The pitch was wet as it rained throughout the match that went into extra time after many missed shots from Bradford City. Nick Barnshaw in particular was poor as he found himself in front of goal three times and each time he missed his target consistently. “That’s a bad thing,” Mark Moore said of his team mate, “I hope he starts scoring soon though.”

Things weren’t looking good for Bradford City after Will Sit’s shot was saved by Given and minutes later, after Dyer’s handball, Flo Ruf’s free kick just went wide of goals. The extra time period yielded no attempts on goal by either team as the players seemed to tire after a long and hard-fought fight.

It was then that Mark Moore seized on a rare opportunity in the 118th minute. He intercepted a pass and took a few steps into the box before kicking it hard past Given and into the left side of the goal. That helped Bradford take the pressure off themselves, especially since there were just a few minutes before a possible penalty shootout would have taken place.

“We wanted to win the game quickly,” Moore spoke of his shot, “We didn’t want a penalty shoot out.”

The Newcastle players were stunned as Moore and his team mates celebrated. Dyer had one last chance to save his side after a foolish tackle from Munoz. Dyer’s shot was saved by Pera and after Pera cleared the ball; Bradford City was into the third round.

“Man, this win was great,” Jing Xu said, “We dream about wins like this. Especially since we are only in the first division and they (Newcastle) are in the premier league. It’s a huge confidence boost for us!”

Eriksson was impressed with his side’s play, “Our team defended hard and to win it so late in extra time was thrilling. Newcastle probably think we should have lost but I say the better team won tonight. We deserved it but next game will be even tougher.”

Bradford City advance to play Chelsea in their third straight cup away match.
