I played CM06 but I dont really like it. Almost every goal seems to be scored from about 40 yards. Stick to FM.

Jae wrote:Got motivated to continue my game

I havent played this game in about a week or so I think. Been busy with work and my World Cup thing. I was tempted to this morning when I got in here but I gotta get to work so it has to wait. The feeling may pass though. Oh well.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 10:52 pm

Everton is currently ripping Lens apart, he has a goal (from a penalty) and is causing all sorts of dramas for them. And to think I was going to sell him for anything I could get. Although it's 1-1 at half time, that's besides the point. Fuck they just scored to level it at 2-2 right at half time, although Kisliy scored again so I'm happy. 2-2.

The board have offered me a new contract  they're giving me 10.5 million to spend which is good but not something I really need.

Big game against Bordeaux who are coming 1st in the league, I say we lose 3-1...

Well they have 1 of the 3... fuck yeah! Everton skips past a few defenders and sends in a cross for Ryan Babel to head in on the 92nd minute. 1-1. Everton's really dominated this left sided midfield position.

Playing against Sochaux, 0-0 at half time and Babel gets injured yet again. So I put Arrache on and move Everton to striker (yes, he can play 3 positions :| ) and he scores pretty much straight away. Ugh, they equalised and that's how it ended. Too many draws (N)

Well now that im getting used to the game, know how to scout, and have some players to keep tabs on, i decided to re-start my Everton game.

Im yet to play a game, but im just scouting the guys Jae mentioned, aswell as sending my different scouts out. I have one guy looking at South America, one looking at England/Ireland, one looking at Ajax, and one looking at Chelsea. Im scouting Ajax for their youngsters and Chelsea for their upset players. The guy ill probably approach to transfer first is Carlos Martins, then this Striker (cant remember his name) from the list Jae gave me. He has a finishing rating of 20, and most of his attributes are over 10, the majority being in the 10-17 range. If i can get him at the right price, he should be a solid acqusition (sp?). After those guys, ill probably look around for some solid defenders, so if you can reccomend anyone from your defensive shopping spree Jae, that would be helpful. Ill also probably go after a new Goal Keeper, or at least a new back up..

Ill post another update and maybe some pics after the England/Paraguay game ;).

Edit: Slipped my mind as i was posting this, but is there a way to Substitute players in-game other than at half time or for an injury? If there is, which screen do i do it at?

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:08 pm

but is there a way to Substitute players in-game other than at half time or for an injury?

Yeah I had the same problem, and i asked Jae. Click on your team's big Logo thing at the top of the screen. Where it says Your Team Score Logo vs. Other Team score Logo. Then sometimes you'll have to wait and you'll get to the Tactics screen.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:09 pm

Thanks for that Jugs. Hows Real Madrid going?

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:12 pm

Pretty bad, I signed that keeper guy I mentioned earlier. Then I played my first league game against Espanyol and at half time, Espanyol were winning 4-1 I was like What the fuck so I exited the game, but I didn't save it after I got the keeper (i think) so i'll have to get him again :( .

I can accept losses but not 4-1 by half time :? .

Edit:

Stekelenburg is actually their main GK

In real life? In the game he's back-up goalkeeper.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:22 pm

Jesus, Everton scores again... this is his form...

As a midfielder, last 5 games:

4 goals
23 runs past his defender (which is insanely high)
16 interceptions
9 shots on goal
1 assist
13 fouls drawn
Average rating of 7.8

As a defender, 5 games prior to that:

0 goals
5 runs past his defender
31 interceptions (which is good)
0 shots on goal
0 assists
5 fouls drawn
Average rating of 6.0

ill probably look around for some solid defenders, so if you can reccomend anyone from your defensive shopping spree Jae, that would be helpful.

No worries...

Noe Pamarot, Tottenham, 27 years old DRC
- Will cost about 1.7 million but he's really good value so worth a look.

Tim de Cler, AZ, 27 years old DL
- He'll be a bit more expensive but he's got great attributes and should go to Everton.

Fernando Casartelli, Amiens, 29 years old, DC/DM
- Looks great value as a back-up, very cheap. Also 1/2 Spanish so you won't need a work permit.

Garry Bocaly, Marseille, 17 years old, DR C/DM
- Check out his attributes, amazing for a 17 year old. Will cost about 3-5 million.

Alexis, Malaga, 20 years old, DR C/DM
- Another good young player, he'll cost about the same as Bocaly but isn't quite as good.

Julien Escude, Anderlecht, 26 years old, DC
- Good strong player, he's on loan from Ajax and you should be able to get him cheap.

Nenad Djordjevic, Partizan, 26 years old, DC
- Much like Escude, has great physical attributes and isn't too expensive.

And finally, probably the best of the lot...

Didier Zokora, St. Ettiene, 25 years old, DC/DM
- Look awesome, he'll cost about 6-7 million but well worth it. I've been trying to sign him for ages and will probably use my entire transfer budget to do so.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:27 pm

Fuck 4-1 at HT? Thats pretty weird, seeing as though your Real Madrid...

Everton has really blown up since that Midfeild switch Jae.. I might have to take a look at him? Ill do some scouting on the defensive guys you listed, and ill come back with who i obtained..

Are any of you guys good with Formations? I have no idea what im doing lol.

Sat Jun 10, 2006 11:49 pm

http://www.thedugout.tv/community/forum ... .php?f=100

There's a good place for formations and tactics (Y)

Everton plays at Palmeiras and cost me 1.4 million. You might have problems getting him a work permit but he's still worth a look.

I've decided to use some of my transfer funds to strengthen the youth at the club... I've gone through pretty much every major side and put in bids for their best youth players, if I get 1/4 of them I'll be happy.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 12:48 am

Ok, well after about 10-15 days at Everton (In my new game), this is what ive been up to.

The board gave me 12.6 million for transfer funds, so i put in bids for the following players.

Player (Age, Position)
Nikola Zigic (24, Striker) - This kid has a rating of 20 for both Headers and Finishing, so i really want this guy.
Raul Bravo (24, D[LC]) - Will be instrumental in the future of Everton if i can land this guy.
Mile Sterjovski (26, AM[R], Striker) - Australian. He has fairly good ratings, and doesnt look to cost me too much.
Sergey Kisliy (17, Striker) - I stole this guy from Jae, because if he gets a message like the one he did after signing this kid, he must be a future stud.
Carlos Martins (23, M[C]) - Cheap player, considering his ratings
Zhang Yaokun (24, D[C]) - Hes got solid ratings, very promising
Everton (20, WB[L], AM[LC], F[C]) - Is tearing it up for Jae, decided to give him a try.

While im waiting for a reply on those guys, i get mail telling me that i have to guys injured. Laurence Wilson (FB, Groin, 2-4 Weeks) and Mark Hughes (CD, Wrist, 1-2 Weeks) will both spend time in the recovery room. So im yet to play a game, and ive already got 2 guys sidelined.

After continuing on another couple of days, i hear back on some of the bids i made.
Delian accepted my offer for Zhang Yaokun, so i offered him a contract as a backup, worth 500,000/year, expiring in June 2008, aswel as a few clauses. Im currently awaiting a Work Permit for him.

The next reply comes in regards to Zigic, the Striker i badly wanted. Unfortunatly the bastards declined my bid for him. Ill probably offer another shortly though.

Next was Real Madrid, telling me they have accepted my bid for Raul Bravo. This had me extremely pleased until the ungratefull fucker snubbed my contract offer of 2.7 Million, stating he wanted to stay put. Anyone know how i could land this guy? Hes going to be key for my Club.

I then settled with Sporting CP over Carlos Martin. I offered him a contract of 2.5 Million, which like Raul, he declined, stating it was more important to stay with his Club. This supprised me, as i thought he would of liked the chance to play for a team like Everton. Prick.

I then offered Everton a contract as a youngster, after his club accepted my transfer proposal. My offer stood at 26,000 plus clauses. We were all set to go, until his Work Permit was refused. However i appealed, and they ended up granting him one, so Everton is soon to arrive at Everton ;)

My proposal for the Australian Sterjovski was then accepted, and i offered a contract of 625,000 + Clauses, expiring in June 2008. I also managed to land Kisily, for 575k, and am awaiting his Permit. Yaokun's Permit was then allowed, and now was the point when i realised i fucked myself over with this guy, because i dont get him for another year  . But when i do, this fucker will tear it up.. Ill post his stats later. I then offered a guy called Anthony Vanden Borre a contract, waiting for a response on that.

Thanks for the site Jae, ill browse through and find some killer Formations and Tactics and let you know what i run with.

To close this update, does anyone have any ideas as to how i can persuade Raul to accept my contract?

Sun Jun 11, 2006 12:59 am

You can up the contract, squad status and give him a big signing bonus... or alternatively wait 6 months until his contract expires and you can try to sign him for free. Surprised you picked up Everton (Y) Good move. If you want some attacking defenders, try Jonathan Brison and Moncef Zerka... both cheap, both look good. Vanden Borre is a great signing, in real life he's going to be a huge commodity eventually.

I'm 1 game away from the end of my first season, I'll post an update tomorrow I think.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 2:01 am

Well ive just played 3 games, and im about to offer Raul another contract to see if i can tempt him, otherwise i may just opt to wait the 6 months.

Ive had a bit of bad luck with some working permits, a few guys my scouts advised me to look at were denied permits, aswel as my Australian project, Sterjovski. However i was able to appeal the decision on Kilisy, so he's on his way.

In regards to the friendly games ive played, (1 W, 1 L, 1 D), the only major negative ive picked up is the lack of possession. I need to find a way to improve this before the season starts i guess. I also need to sign some players, with depth being a problem at the moment, due to injury. I just had Marcus Bent, a strong scorer go down in my last game.

Anyways, its nearly 2am, so this is just a short update, which ill finish with some screenshots.

And finally, the stats of Zhang Yaokun, the guy who will transfer to Everton in a year lol.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 2:47 am

Yaokun looks good, by the time he gets to Everton he'll be even better I'd say. By the looks of things the problem with your results isn't really your tactics, it's more the strikers. In that one game you had tonnes of shots, but not many were actually on goal.

Anyways I decided to write a mini-wrap up for my first season...

Ended the season on a winning note with a 3-0 raping of Lille. Ryan Babel finally showed some of what he's capable of, scoring a goal and being voted man of the match. Yildrim scored from a free kick and Farnerud struck a penalty to finish it off.

Strasbourg Reserves won their league by 8 points ahead of Auxerre Reserves (the reserves are probably better than the first team ) and the Under 18's won their league aswell.

That win solidifies 8th place, just 3 points behind Paris and 2 ahead of Toulouse. Also gave us 5.25 million for finishing there, which is great. Some surprises with Marseille finishing 10th, and Auxerre being relegated. Monaco won the league by 10 points, Lyon and St. Ettiene finishing just behind. Here's a round-up of all the major leagues:

Ligue 1 Orange

Top 3
Monaco (champions)
Lyon
St. Ettiene

Relegated
Auxerre
Metz
Lille

Barclays Premiership

Top 3
Arsenal (Champions)
Manchester United
Liverpool

Juventus (Champions)
Internazionale
AS Roma

Cagliari
Empoli
Treviso

La Liga

Top 3
Barcelona
Real Madrid
Athletic Bilbao

Bilbao were a surprise, they'll probably get stomped in the Champions League.

UEFA Champions League

Juventus 4 defeats Arsenal 2

UEFA Cup

Feyenoord 1 defeats FC Bayern 0

UEFA Inter-toto Cup

St. Ettiene 4 defeats Dortmund 1
Lazio 1 defeats Lens 0
Wolfsburg 2 defeats Deportivo 1

European Super Cup (UEFA cup winners vs Champions League winners)

Liverpool 3 defeats CSKA Moscow 1

FIFA Club World Championship

Al Ittihad 1 defeats Sao Paulo 0

Here's the French awards:

Best African: Bonaventure Kalou (Paris)
Foreign Player Of The Season: Miranda (Sochaux)
Goalkeeper Of The Season: Christophe Revault (Toulouse)
Manager Of The Season: Jean Tigana (Monaco)
Most Promising Player: Romaric (Le Mans)
Players Player Of The Season: Patrice Evra (Monaco)
Revelation Of The Season: Miranda (Sochaux)
Star Goalkeeper: Christophe Revault (Toulouse)
Star Of The Season: Frederic Thomas (Le Mans)
Top Goalscorer: Sebastian Grax (Troyes)

Calling Romaric the most promising player is an understatement, he looks amazing and apparentely wants to leave his club. I think I can get him, I'll offer Arrache in exchange... it'll be a position for position swap, but Romaric is the kind who could easily cause me selection problems as I rank him above Babel, Everton and Farnerud.

And here's an animation I made just showing all of the guys I've got coming to the club when the transfer window opens. Like I said, I wanted to strengthen the youth ranks moreso than the first team... even though I've got the best reserves/youth team in the country, it can still get better.

Finally you finished a season. How may more you planning to go?

In the bottom left hand corner I believe the last slection is where you can choose to substitute and what not. You have to wait until the ball goes out of play though.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 10:49 am

All those guys look very promising Jae, so nice pick up there. And you even managed to land Raul Bravo :(. Hes still complaining about being shopped around in mine, and refuses to sign with Everton.

Everton the player has been really solid for me with 7-8 ratings. Hes probably going to be my project player, along with Kisily.

Ill post some more updates when i get home from work tonight.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 2:17 pm

Good stuff (Y) I wish I had played him on the wing from the start, I wasted most of his season as a defender.

Finally you finished a season. How may more you planning to go?

No idea, just until I get bored I think.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 4:21 pm

Well ive reached the point in my game where i really wanna start afresh. Half of my first team is injured, im losing to sides i shouldnt, my strikers suck, and im the worst possible defensive team. Considering im only a month max into it, theres no way im going to enjoy my game if half of my team is injured..

So im heavily considering a starting anew, bringing in depth right from the start (before my friendly matches even), building the team around defence. Thats probably what ill do though. Ill be back within the hour, with an update on either this squad, or a new Everton game.

Sun Jun 11, 2006 11:04 pm

The World Cup is currently going on in my game, Iran have just beaten Brazil 2-1 in the quarter finals  this after they beat France in the previous round.

As i was day dreaming at work, i was planning on asking you guys if the World Cup did actually get played in FM2006...Thanks for answering my question ;)

I decided to restart my Everton game, updates coming later..
yes, i know i restart a new game every three seconds, shut up

Sun Jun 11, 2006 11:40 pm

The USA beat Argentina aswell... what a weird tournament.

I've decided to spend some cash. I spent about 3 million releasing and signing an entirely new coaching staff, hopefully they'll develop the younger guys I've brought in. I also signed like 1/2 of the Ivory Coast Under 23's because they all look good and are cheap. That leaves me about 8.5 million, 6 million I'm trying to spend on the transfer listed Didier Drogba. Chelsea don't want him anymore so I'll see what I can do, Marseille are after him also.

Paul Robinson requested a transfer, so I go to sign him and Tottenham want 24 million  weird.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 12:52 am

Ugh fuck that, Drogba went to Ajax on loan instead of coming to play for me :x instead I signed his international strike partner, Arouna Kone...

Image
(It says "In Talks" but he's accepted the contract)

He cost 6 million but he looks worth it, I really needed some more goalscoring, I don't think Kisliy is ready yet to be the #1 striker.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 3:23 am

In my game Ivory Coast won the WC :P

Mon Jun 12, 2006 5:26 am

England won it in my game if I remember correctly.

@Jae

Kone looks good. 22 is a good age and it looks like you may have a star in the making.

Mon Jun 12, 2006 7:19 pm

Hopefully. I had a couple of friendlies against my Reserves and Under 18's team just to get some match fitness for a few guys, Kone was quite awesome...

Strasbourg 6
Kone (3, 40)
Babel (22, 59)
Yildrim (pen 29)
N'Diaye (65)

Strasbourg Reserves 0

Alexander Farnerud, Everton, Yildrim and Babel all had 10 ratings for the match, with Babel getting 4 assists

Kone only played in the first half, but 2 goals is pretty awesome. Talla N'Diaye was the lead scorer for the reserves last season, so I figured he deserved to be in the first team this season.

Probably the biggest surprise is this defensive midfielder I signed called Elvis (lol). He's 21 years old, I picked him up from the Ivory Coast U/23's and he only cost me 100k. He's averaging 5 tackles for his first 2 games and a rating of 7.5, looked awesome in this match.

The match against the Under 18's was interesting, they're actually better than the reserve team. They almost had the lead to start with, about 3 times I thought they were going to score but we managed to flatten them eventually. They really impressed me though, and most of them are only 15 years old.

Strasbourg 4
Kone (10, 44)
Kisliy (19)
Talla N'Diaye (78)

Strasbourg Under 18's 0

Julien Gorius started in place of Farnerud on the right wing and he was awesome, picking up man of the match (just ahead of Kisliy). He drew fouls like there was no tomorrow and set up a goal, so a good game for him. I've set up a game between the reserves and the under 18's just so I can see how close they really are.

Hmm... the reserves went down 1-0 early due to a Alexandre Delanys (17 years old) goal, but pegged one back in the second half from Gaetan Krebs (20 years old). Anthony Weber was man of the match, he's only 19 and played for the Under 18's last season.

First game of the season, against Paris of all teams. Hopefully we can get something from it, this'll be a good indication of where the team is at.

Wow... we actually look better, Babel has gone close twice, Everton aswell... but it's Arouna Kone who grabs the opening goal on his debut (Y) it's almost half time, but if we can win this it'll be great.Typical. They score from the kick off through Mario Yepes. Half time and it's 1-1. They're all over us, had about 3 clear chances in the first 10 minutes of half time. Holy fuck, we hit them on the break and Kone grabs another goal! From the kick-off, Kone scores AGAIN. That's 3 on debut and we finish the match off 3-1.

Strasbourg 3
Arouna Kone (34, 78, 80)

Paris 1
Mario Yepes (36)

Babel grabs 2 assists, along with Julien Gorius who came on as a 2nd half substitute. Yildrim is mildly injured but I think Gorius can fill in for him.

Here's some of the bigger signings made in the offseason:

Joao Moutinho: Sporting CP to Chelsea (12 million)
Valeri Bojinov: Fiorentina to Chelsea (11 million)
Vincent Kompany: Anderlecht to Chelsea (10.5 million)
Ricardo Carvalho: Chelsea to Inter Milan (9.7 million)
Vincenzo Iaquinta: Udinese to Inter Milan (9.2 million)
Gianpaolo Pazzini: Fiorentina to Chelsea (9.2 million)
Adrian Mutu: Juventus to Palermo (9.2 million)
Nicolas Anelka: Fenerbahce to Stuttgart (7.7 million)
Mirko Vucinic: Leece to Juventus (7.5 million)
Arouna Kone: Roda JC to Strasbourg (6 million)
Victor Sikora: Ajax to NAC Breda (4.5 million)

Probably the biggest shock was Giovanni dos Santos moving from Barcelona to Betis for 350k. Bit stupid of him IMO.

And a wrap-up of the European Under 19's Championship:

Final:
England 2 defeat France 1

Semi Finals:
England 1 defeat Holland 0
France 1 defeat Iceland 1 (penalties)

Top 5 Players (Rating)

1: Josip Tadic (Croatia) SC/Leverkusen 19 years old
2: Christiaan Perrier (Holland) SC/NAC Breda 19 years old
3: Steinar Hreioarsson (Iceland) DMRC/Valur 19 years old
4: Kristjan Ari Halldorsson (Iceland) ST/Prottur 19 years old
5: Boris Eterovic (Croatia) MC/Hr. Dragovoljac 18 years old

Top 5 Players (Goals)

1: Xavier Pentecote (France) SC/Toulouse 19 years old (4 goals)
2: James Vaughan (England) SC/Everton 18 years old (3 goals)
3: Josip Tadic (Croatia) SC/Leverkusen 19 years old (2 goals)
4: Eljero Elia (Holland) SC/ADO Den Haag 19 years old (2 goals)
