This thread is alive! Only 2 weeks left. Rooney's still injured, Messi is recovering, Ronaldinho keeps winning. Anybody wants to change their predictions?

Sat May 27, 2006 9:43 am

Last Thursday Australia beat Greece in a practice match  :D
Yeah it's coming real soon, i've put my posters up and i'm set

Sat May 27, 2006 11:14 am

Brazil will win imo. Ronaldinho and Ronaldo are too strong and plus Brazil got one of the best keepers in the world.

Sat May 27, 2006 11:14 am

Chile beat Ireland in Dublin on Wednesday  South Africa, here we come

Sat May 27, 2006 12:32 pm

 I'm sure they're petrified.

Sat May 27, 2006 7:50 pm

Im rooting for our boys but on the serious side of things I see a repeat by Brazil but I'd like to see England, France and Serbia & Montenegro do well and be the main challengers to Brazil's repeat run.

The house is going to be divided with my Dad rooting for Trinidad & Tobago (no chance at all ), my Mom rooting for Italy and my Sis is going with Spain (she's in love with Torres).

Serbia have the hardest group. Netherlands and Argentina are in the top 5 in the world, but we play good against top teams (Beat Spain in the qualifiers and came 1st while only conceding 1 goal in all matches).

It will be tough but hopefully they will win.

As for Australia, I reckon they don't have a chance, maybe they will beat the Croats. :P Top 2 in their group will be Brazil and Japan, but prove me wrong Aussies

Yeah Serbia's in this years group of death. I think the Dutch will choke and if they can keep up that top defense of their's then Im sure they can hold off Argentina and any team in the competition. Big Kezman fan so I hope to see him in the running for the Golden Boot. (y)

And well I think it'll be hard for Australia, Uruguay was not the best test and Greece is not a real top footballing nation despite them winning Euro 2004. Their next game against the Dutch should give them a better test to see if they can really handle the big guns but if they can compose themselves they can sneak into the playoffs ahead of Japan (Im predicting Croatia to be last, sorry Jugs).

I dunno, Uruguay beat Argentina and tied with Brazil twice in their qualifying, they're a pretty strong team.

Barh! .. yeah I don't think Croatia are a strong side.. they won't reach the success of '98 for quite a while IMO, but it's still fun being incredibly biased towards them

Who was on Argentina's and Brazil's roster for the games? Were they at full strength?

Mon May 29, 2006 3:56 am

I checked the line-ups, they were all full strength games. Here are the scorers:

Brazil 3
Kaka, 20
Ronaldo, 28
Ronaldo, 87

Uruguay 3
Diego Forlan, 57
Diego Forlan, 76
Gilberto Silva (og 78)

---------------

Brazil 1
Emerson, 68

Uruguay 1
Diego Forlan, 48

---------------

Uruguay 1
Alvaro Recoba, 46

Argentina 0

Mon May 29, 2006 4:22 am

Uruguay is always strong. The only thing is that that last game against Argentina was probably fixed :P
