Name: Donny
Height: 5'9" 1/2 (That's my REAL height, most people I know are asian and they like to overrate my height..)
Weight: 134
Age: 16 (turned 16 in feb)
Location: Carson, California
Preferred Position: SG
Playing Position: SG?
Experience: All my life, stopped playing during middle school years, now that I'm in high school I regained interest and I'm trying to get better. Also I never played organized basketball..
Favourite NBA Player: Kobe Bryant
Realistic NBA Comparison (And Why): Umm.... Shaun Livingston, guy that has high hopes for the future, down a few notches in each category.

Strengths: speed, jumpshot, willpower!
Weaknesses: quickness, conditioning, strength

Favourite move you can do: reverse layup (I've been practicing it :D )

Favourite move you've done once: simple ball in front crossover against a guy maybe 6'1" or 2

Favourite place to shoot: mid range, 45 degree angle

Biggest shot you've made: none really

Best game you've played: don't know

Most satisfying moment: crossing over mentioned above

Most shameful moment: AIRBALLING A FREETHROW

Most regretted moment: If only I played basketball all through those years (in middle school) I can only imagine how much better I'd be right now...

Most painful moment: grabbing a rebound and landing on someones foot (like Kobe did, but I didn't jump 10 feet off the guys foot when I landed)

Basketball Goals for the future: get in better shape, get stronger, improved ball handling, MAKE THE BASKETBALL TEAM!

Wed Mar 23, 2005 5:16 am

Name: Jesse
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 161
Age: 18
Location: Chicago suburbs

Preferred Position: PG/SG
Playing Position: whatever the team needs
Experience: Been playing since I was 5- never organized, though (gyms, parks)
Favourite NBA Player: Dwyane Wade
Realistic NBA Comparison (And Why): A quicker version of Andres Nocioni

Strengths: Post-up (even though I'm short- you can't block my hook shot  which I get off with either hand), speed, quickness, strength (I'm an animal on defense  ), defense, rebounding, passing
Weaknesses: Shooting is too streaky, get complacent at times, overall too inconsistent

Favourite move you can do: Spin move, AI-move (left-to-right hand in front of your body, jab-step to the right, then behind-the-back to the left hand and go left all the way 8-) ), reverse layups with either hand on either side of the backboard- there are 4 different ones, you know- just always have your wrist spin towards the basket and you're good-

Favourite move you've done once: cut hard right to the hole, jumped straight up in the air on a big guy who was going for the block, and used my left hand to wrap the ball around his body and scoop it up & in. I thought it was going to be an airball

Favourite place to shoot: I like to shoot mid-range shots from the free-throw line like C-Webb

Biggest shot you've made: any game-winner in pick up games or 21- I haven't had a memorable or really big-time one

Best game you've played: One time, playing 2-on-2, and I got hot from three-point line (and everywhere else). I scored just about all the points for our team. I wish that would happen more often

Most satisfying moment: any blocked shot

Most shameful moment: Missing layups, I do this a lot for some reason. I work my butt off to get to the hole, and then blow the layup!

Most regretted moment: Sometimes I play too physically, need to take it easier. Other times, I'm too passive and need to step it up.

Most painful moment: Never broken anything, or had stitches, but many times someone's thrown a bullet-pass that my head intercepted. Now that HURTS. Or, elbows to the mouth-area, I've had many bloodied/swollen lips.

Basketball Goals for the future: Be more consistent, get a better jumper, have more confidence on the court.

Tell me this is a mistake,please... I can't imagine anyone that thin...

Wed Mar 23, 2005 5:35 am

oops Fixed it I couldn't image myself that thin(I wrote my girfriends weight)

Wed Mar 23, 2005 5:47 am

Well, better, but 2.06m and 70 kgr is still far from ideal... I think you should hit the weights and some more food, friend. I was once 6' 0" and 70 kgr and I looked like a street pole...

6' 9" at 15 years old? Man, you'll get taller than Stojko Vrankovic if you keep this up... And you play PG???  At your age you should be dominating the lother kids in the basket, and if you're going to reach 7' 0" or more eventually, playing the point will be out of the question... Try playing PF/C is my advice...

Wed Mar 23, 2005 10:54 am

Don't listen to him, he's evil!
You should play in the position you're most comfortable. Doesn't matter if it's the PG or C

Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:01 am

Yeah take the KG path and play your natural position

Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:06 am

Have you ever seen a 7' 0" point guard?

Further more, have you seen how much time it takes for the ball to come back in his hands after a bounce. A 7' 0" PG has 'steal' written all over the ball every time he dribbles it...

Sometimes you have to adjust to real life conditions if you want to excel at what you do. A SF for him, I understand, but a PG.. Not even Magic Johnson would agree...

Wed Mar 23, 2005 12:07 pm

If he's really strong and bounces the ball really hard it should be no problem.

It's in my genes. My father was 6'9 when he was 15 too.I like to play as PG becouse it is my most comfortable place.
Today our class is going to measuring(i hope i spelled it right) and then i will tell you my exact weight and height (maybe i growing or maybe i shrinking)

Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:44 pm

How tall did your father grow up to be eventually. If you actually play PG at a professional level being 7' 0", you'll probably be the first person worldwide to do so...

I think your coaches will move you out of the PG posision eventually, sorry. Every coach wants to win, and having a 7' 0" kid playing perimeter would seem like a waste to them. Just to get you prepared for what is to come, friend...

Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:47 pm

2.06m and only 70kg... Damn, that have to dangerously unhealthy

Wed Mar 23, 2005 8:53 pm

I think bones must pop out at that ratio. It's better than being 2.06m and 150 kgr , though, trust me. I had a friend that size, died at 17 of a heart attack...

Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:22 pm

I was 6'0" and 130lbs at 14....now I'm 6'2" and 220lbs at 24....10 years makes a bit of difference....if you wanna fill out, once you're finished high school, stop playing competitive sports every day, drink at least 4 nights a week, move out of home and not know how to cook so always eat takeaways....

Heh, sounds very familiar to me. Luckily, I was a gym rat since my early teens so I managed to avoid some of those sidesteps... And I still have no idea on how to cook anything other than a black omelette...

Name: Tyler
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 100 lbs. (maybe a little more
Age: 13
Location: Pennsylvania

Preferred Position: SG/SF (hoping to get taller and be a PF next year)
Playing Position: SG/SF (wing)
Experience: 6 years (intermural and school teams)
Favorite NBA Player: Allen Iverson
Realistic NBA Comparison: Not sure, it would be someone who can shoot well but can also drive on occassion and plays good D

Strengths: Shooting and getting into the lane, making the extra pass, tough D
Weaknesses: Not aggressive enough (once in paint), sometimes make too many passes, can give up turnover's against double teams

Favorite Move You Can Do: Manu's one-handed crossover

Favorite Move You've Done: Got the ball on the left wing, drove baseline, cut into the paint and went for the layup when a big man hit me hard, I'm under the backboard facing the opposite basket (and falling out of bounds) and I just throw one up that goes in and the foul :D

Favorite place to shoot: Near the baseline and the extended elbow

Biggest shot you've made: Went up for the 3, got shoved to the right and I throw up a pathetic sort of hook shot and it goes in, plus the foul

Best Game You've Played: Scored 18 on 3 3's and made the shot to force OT (same game as above)

Most Satisfying Moment: The game above

Most Shameful Moment: I'm running point, I lose the ball to the other teams terrible player when I mishandle it and the other team gets the easy 2, they get momentum, we lose

Most Regretted Moment: Not boxing out someone on the other team because I thought the game was over and they get the rebound and score to win the game

Goals for the Future: Get taller and become a force in the post (all the big men at my school can't score in the post when we need it for some reason), or if I don't get much taller become a better ballhandler and drive the lane more

Thu Mar 24, 2005 3:00 am

Check the updates. Now i have 210 LBS (i haven't measured my weight since 7th grade but i check my height every month). A new coach gave me the PF position (he says it is temporary until he sees what i can do)

Thu Mar 24, 2005 3:05 am

2.06m and 95 kgr. Far better, just a bit underweight...

Thu Mar 24, 2005 7:46 am

Have you ever seen a 7' 0" point guard

Back in the 70's, did you ever saw a 6'9 PG? Times change, man.
But I have to agree wth the part about playing in the post. The coach (and you) culd take advantage of your height

Thu Mar 24, 2005 7:57 am

well if you can shoot the three and dribble, then there's an advantage there...
no other guard will be able to stop you! and if they'll put a tall man on you, he'll probably be so slow you can go past him...
