Online is definitely super dependent on who you're joined with. Freeroam is a decent time killer, but when you get a good team together and play with them for more than one match, God this mode shines.

Survived up to Wave 10 in a Survival for $20000, won a couple races in a row for ~$5000 each, and then we got our asses kicked by another team in some search and retrieve team game.

Both teams had to retrieve the drugs, I think teams of 8, and at one point there were about 15 cop cars, and all 16 of us all on an overpass driving around like a frickin derby while shooting helplesssly at everything. It was beautiful. This mode lasted about 25 minutes as noone could ever break free from the cluster fuck of cars or cops. We ended up loosing and I couldn't have cared less, it was chaotic, unscripted joy.

Many X360 users here? Would love to rank up alongside someone.

So I finally finished the story. I picked the best ending, the one where all three characters stay alive. Now I will shift my focus to GTA Online. I will be online Thursday and possibly Friday at midnight, Central Time Zone if anyone would like to join.

My PSN is Lamrock93 - I don't have a mic and haven't been terribly impressed with the online mode, but hit me up. I still fuck around in Single Player but all I have left to do is a couple races and the letter scraps - so it's only fun when I'm stoned. :P

Finally tried out online, only to find that the game keeps freezing on the second mission. Not impressed with that, looks like I'll be giving it a miss.

Your not the first. Both consoles have uses with those issues. I think I got a freeze once, but it wasn't in the same place.

Shows it could be the latest update.

Some solutions state to install the "play disc" to a flash drive or any drive that the install disc is not on.

Hopefully it'll be resolved with the next update then, but for now I guess I'll be sticking with story mode.

I second that. My connection broke off as I was about to do a Last Team Standing. Either way, I don't think I'll be too fond of this mode. On a couple of occasions I was killed by another user, once after I completed a mission and another during a mission. It's very annoying.

The thing is, it is obviously an amazing mode, far beyond the usual online fare. Even though I'm not a big online gamer, it's something I'm inclined to check out and will probably give a few more chances, especially if they keep pushing through updates. However, after it happened to me a couple of times yesterday, I'd had enough for the moment.

My other gripe is that I started a solo session, so naturally I had to be matched up with random people for the introductory race. When the race finished and the game progressed to the second mission - the one that keeps freezing - I was kicked from the game by the other players, back to story mode. That meant a fair bit of loading before I could jump into another solo session.

I understand being matched up with other people for that initial race to get you acquainted with the concept, but I should've been able to go about my business by myself immediately after that. Instead, it dampened my enthusiasm having to go back into online and endure all the loading, only to run into the freezing issues.

Joined Pdub in a race, only to see him sitting on his bike on an empty track, doing nothing.

Saddest thing I've ever seen.

Hahaha hah I didn't want to get kicked. I took a break and put something on the right stick to constantly rotate the camera while on a mission. Came back and looked for you, but you logged off.

I wish I knew what to do in online free roam, I really do.

But it's almost pointless to me.

Some guy was trying to kill me just now because I had a $3000 bounty on me (I stole some random AI guys car and he wanted me dead), but he couldn't hurt me because I was in the middle of a gang attack mission.

He soon realised that if he helped me complete the mission, he could then kill me. So, when there was only 1 guy left to kill, I ran off to my car and planted a sticky bomb on his car (an expensive Bugatti, no less) and after he killed the last gang member I drove off and blew up his car.

It cost me $12k because it was insured, but I completed the mission and he got nothing.

Currently sitting in my safe house with the curtains drawn. :proud:

Edit:

I drove up to the top of Mt Chiliad and then took the quick way down for fun. Glad I installed that roll cage in my car. (Y)

Has everybody received Rockstar's promised $500,000 deposit for GTA Online yet? I played online a few days ago and I didn't have it yet, but maybe I will have it next time I play.
