Re: The "Last Movie You Watched" thread

Finally got to watch Seven Pounds last night (I know I'm late...). I'm still not too sure what to think of this movie.

At first the story was confusing as fuck but it all started to make sense in the end. I'm not a big fan of that type of scheme where you're like wtf?! for like one and a half hours and then you're supposed to be somewhat happy when they finally clear things up. Also the wtf?!-phase was unusually long. They tried too hard to make things seem all mysterious for my liking.

The story itself is beautifully sad and I really liked it. Smith's acting reaches the levels of his usual awesomeness and the rest of the cast was solid as well.

Overall I think this is a nice, entertaining movie with a deep and beautiful story that makes you think about a couple of things in life. But it's really nothing that's gonna blow you away. I'd say it's a perfect movie to watch late at night at home with your girl. But it's not gonna come anywhere near the list of my favorite movies.

I cant believe i forgot (was reminded by trivia night tonight) one of the most epically bad (yet awesome movies i saw this summer). The Spirit.
All I can say...eva mendes and scarlett are hot as shit...and actions so cheesy and corny with so many cliches spewing out: this movies hysterical. Samuel L Jackson is the god of cult movies.

Revanche, an Austrian revenge thriller. Pretty good, but a little plodding and the ending was a cop-out. Lots of nudity though.

It's only the second Asian (Japanese, Korean, Chinese) movie I've seen, the first being Ichi - The Killer.

There are only few words to describe my experience as a 16-17 year old watching Ichi. Holy. Shit.

I was thirteen when i first watched Oldboy. With my mom, no less. Family tradition though, since her mom took her to see Taxi Driver when she was 12.

I agree with you on this one. Probably the greatest spy movies of all time. (Sorry 007) Imagine toying with the CIA who signed you, damn. For me, Bourne is better than Bond and Xander. ( Sorry again, 007).

Okay, so I've been thinking for some time if I should make this thread or not. So now that I made it I'm hoping to get some attention back from the movie guys like Jackal and others. This thread is to discus only movies that you have watched and not the ones that you plan to watch.. I don't want this thread to take the Movies thread route. If Jae or any other NLSC Team Member thinks this is just like the old movie thread feel free to lock it.

To kick it of then:

I finished watching the Bourne Trilogy this week.

I must say one of the best movies ever made are the Bourne's. Simply amazing, they always leave you on the edge of your seat. You can NOT plan out the ending or the things in between. Matt Damon does one hell of an acting job . He quickly became one of my favorite actors .

I'm currently on a streak of watching sports movies. Coach Carter, Miracle and Any Given Sunday. I'm done also with Goal 1 and 2. Even old kiddie movies, Mighty Ducks Trilogy and Little Giants.
I'm waiting for the copy of Blue Chips, Remember the titans and We are marshall.

Just like with Andrew and his post count?

Watched Ong-Bak 2, shown in the bus while on the way home. A bit boring, except for the weapons part. Still a disappointment compared to the first even though it was intended to be a sort of prequel or backstory to the first film.. I hope the final (I think Tony Jaa intends it to be a trilogy) will be more kickass than the first two.

I thought it was alright, but once again, it's one of those modern comedies that rely 99% on the random swearing. You could see how the story would end after just watching the first 5 minutes...

District 9. It kicked all kinds of ass. Not only because it's a movie with aliens in it, but the underlaying storyline about different races coming together through adversity was quite moving. And there was stuff being blown up in it as well.

Zack and Miri was pretty funny, not the best Seth Rogan's done though. I watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall last night, Russell Brand is amazing in it... admittedly he's essentially just playing himself, but that's besides the point.

I probably would have found that movie somewhat funny if my testicles didn't drop yet, but I fail to see how anyone over the age of 12 will find that brand of humour remotely close to being funny.

Let me post the review I wrote for it at rotten tomatoes.

So refreshing seeing an actually funny movie, instead of a bunch of overpayed hollywood big names trying to force comedy. This movie is making fun of things that are stupid. If you think it's a stupid movie, your skill in life might be missing the point. People that don't like this movie have either not seen the movies it's spoofing or can't laugh about themselves.

I know you're trying to sound witty and all, but the impression falls kind of short if you're an advocate of spoof movies like these.

Don't get me wrong, Scary Movie was a pretty good movie at the time... But the novelty of spoofing different movies has worn thin pretty quickly over the years.

Wow, you just told me so many things about you. And I wasn't even asking. That's funny.
My advice would be to get someone to hug you.
