Update on the life of a young Doob.

I'm feeling great. I'm sore most days but I'm never tired and always energetic. I feel like I haven't lost a pound, I put the scale down for a month because I became obsessed. I was 218 last time I checked. I did notice I am developing a more muscular body, and my man-boobs are slowly going away. Hard work for me. The diet's going great as well guys, but I'm going to break it April 13 for dinner. That is my birthday and my friends are taking me out, so thats my only exception.

btw thanks for the video Jackie, I watch it a few times. First time I saw it I put my head down in shame, now it's motivation.

In the spirit of some more motivating videos...

phpBB [video]

Look me in the eyes, it's okay if you're scared...so am I.
But we're scared for different reasons...
I'm scared of what I won't become and you're scared of what I could become...
Look at me...
I won't let myself end where I started...
I won't let myself finish where I began...

I know what is within me...
Even if you can't see it yet...
Look me in the eyes...
I have something more important than courage, I have patience.
I will become what I know I am...

phpBB [video]

It's not about the shoes...
It's about knowing where you're going...
Not forgetting where you started...
It's about having the courage to fail...
Not breaking...when you are broken.
Taking everything you've been given...and making something better.
It's about work...before glory.
And what's inside of you...
It's about doing...what they say you can't.
It's not about the shoes...it's about what you do in them.

And a personal favorite because I was a pretty critical person of him as well...

I'd like to announce that I weighed myself today, and for the first time in such a long time I don't fall under the obese category. I am currently 211.6 lbs.I read somewhere that obesity depends on your BMI and for me to not be considered obese I'd have to be 212 or lower. I am very very proud of myself, and will keep updating you guys. I'd also like to add that my stamina and endurance are both so great right now. When I started I had trouble walking on a treadmill, now I can do 10 minutes of a steady jog, and still won't really breathe heavy.

I'm headed back to the court today, playing basketball as much as I can along with my gym workouts. I think this should boost my weight loss too.

Oye Jackal! Ki hal hai? :D I just skimmed over the thread and initial impressions are that you've turned fitness extraordinaire of the NLSC forums. Put up some progress pics if time and self esteem permit :)

I just read that last post while wanting to post a video that's got me back to the gym.

I fell out for three months because of Law school + work on the evenings to save up for my trip to India.

Unfortunately self esteem doesn't permit at the moment, perhaps after I've retained my new old self.

Same here. Too many life changes happening at the moment. My goal is to start again either this Monday or next week Monday and try to seriously commit.

I pity the fool who isn't inspired by Dr Phil and his words of wisdom. :mrt:

On a more serious note, perhaps this:

I already have that Jordan one, the video doesn't make for much of a wallpaper.

On a sidenote, I don't think Andrew meant that seriously, that would sort of be hypocritical.

Yeah I left that post a little short. I meant to include an explanation that a quick search didn't yield a suitable wallpaper based on quotes from that commercial, though I think that would do fairly well as inspirational wallpaper.

Re: The Fitness Guide

Quite likely.

On a more serious note, I've taken a much greater interest in fitness these past few months and feel a lot better and healthier for it. I've also cut out beer for the most part, but that's also due to gout. I don't mind having a drink every now and again but I don't really miss it.

I did some bodybuilding 4 months. Then my motivation went away. (N)
My favourite exercise were barbell curls for biceps and lats pulldown.

Atleast you acknowledge that much. There are people that are under the impression that if you take steroids you'll just become Mr. Olympia without doing anything. He still worked his ass off to achieve his physique.

You sound like me. At first I thought I'd die without the beer. I think it's been a total of almost 1.5 years orso that I haven't had a drop of alcohol. People are stronger than they think. As for feeling better...aren't endorphins just the best thing in the world.

Re: The Fitness Guide

Sun Jul 19, 2009 8:51 am

Can't say enough for endorphins. (Y)

I'd agree it wasn't all that difficult to cut back on beer to the point where I rarely drink. I'm past the whole stage of wanting to go out drinking every week, it's certainly easier on the savings account to not be buying a case every other week (then drinks in town and paying for a taxi home) and my GP certainly advised it in light of my gout. It kind of happened organically anyway, I just started drinking less, putting up my hand to be the designated driver more often and whatnot. If I have a beer these days, it's usually just the one with a meal and even then, weeks go in between that one.

I finally started working out again, I bought a membership to my local YMCA and they have some very decent equipment for that.
I can't really play any sports as I used to because of a bad back injury several years ago, so I lost a couple of pounds of muscle over the last few years (my legs especially became pathetic), and I just could not find any kind willpower or motivation to start getting in shape again. I've been feeling pretty down partly because of that, so I finally took that step and I'm glad I did so far. I've been working out for an hour almost each day of this week, and since I'm feeling more sore than I've ever been, I'm assuming it's working.
I have a really fast metabolism and I can't really gain any weight from eating, so I know I won't become all buff and everything, but at least it's gonna keep me busy and somewhat healthy.
So here, hooray to fitness
