Quantum of Solace was pretty good, but a little too short I think, it felt like it was almost unfinished. I think Casino Royale was much longer, it didn't feel as rushed.
Superbad was pretty fun, better than other Rogen and co movies that were made afterwards. Without the uber explicit language, there's not much of a story though. It's a little sad that most of those comedies rely and this so much.

A lot of current American movies revolve around bad language.

Saw land of the lost and bruno. both were pretty funny. Will Farrel is like hit and miss for me and this time it was good. And Sasha Cohen is one of the best in messing with people.

I saw quantum too. It felt like they tried to cram a lot of action in there and make it a bit confusing, so that if you seen it in the movies, you would still want to buy to the dvd. Casino royale is one of my all time favorite bond movies.

Wasn't too horrible actually, wouldn't watch it again but wasn't too much of a waste of 2 hours or so.

Also watched a lot of movies this past week with roommate, saw Terminator: Salvation, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, The Hangover, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. All in all pretty good movies all around, though Harry Potter and Transformers were ridiculously long and we got out of the theaters around 1 or 2 AM for a 10:30 PM showing.

Oh I'm all for realism and showing what people would actually say, I'm as liberal as it gets when it comes to that. But to me, some of the latest comedies push it so far that it really just becomes a gimmick at some point, which one could argue is a way to get some cheap laughs when the story itself (or even the characters for that matter) barely has any backbone.
And it's not just comedies I guess: since you're from the Boston area, can you confirm if people actually place a "fuck" every couple of words, as depicted in Gone Baby Gone? It just felt exaggerated at times, and if you're left wondering if this is deliberate or not, it kinda gets your focus away from the story I think.

I agree, actually. I don't find it offensive and profanity can be used quite effectively in movies (and for that matter, stand-up comedy routines) to punctuate a joke and whatnot, but by itself there isn't much inherently funny about it because it loses its impact after a while. The same goes for anything that may be done just for the sake of being "controversial" and "edgy" (Family Guy's unnecessary celebrity potshots come to mind), especially when it's done ad nauseum.

Watched Napoleon Dynamite last night (a friend recommendation). Sadly, wasted an hour and a half of my life on it.... tried hard to enjoy it but it's fruitless. I recall the day when I saw Rob Schneider's Benchwarmers, last night's deja vu.

I don't known what to think of Watchmen. I rented it on blu-ray, it's definitely a visual treat, but the ending seemed to drag on, and while I usually wouldn't mind something that blurs the lines instead of being just straight forward "good vs evil", this one left me unsatisfied at the end. I'm not a fan of comics to begin with, but I did love The Dark Knight for example. This one just left me :|

I actually rewatched the DC just two days ago and completely loved it. For some reason I liked it a lot more than the first viewing. I think I went in expecting something else and got something else.

It's mindblowing take on society in its own way, I liked it.

Favorite line: " Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the comedian is the only thing that makes sense. "

Read?

Come to think of it, now that it's summer I do have more time on hand instead of having to read legal shit all day. I'll see if ABC has it...which I doubt.

Just finished watching it with my roommate, and wow what a long movie. Honestly never been into the whole Watchmen series, or any sorts of American comics, so didn't know what to expect. Agree with you that it really blurs the line between good and evil, like killing millions to save billions thing is just hard to handle. Was pretty nice visually, plenty decent fighting scenes although all the flashbacks in an attempt to try to tell everything did drag it down a bit.

The watermelon. About a guy that gets a trailer from his dead dad.
It's an fresh comedy that manages to keep the feel of the movie light and entertaining, dispite a darker backstory.

Got free Gold Class movie tickets plus $40 bar vouchers from my boss the other day so took my wife to see Ugly Truth. As far as romantic comedies go (although the Scottish actor in it called it more of a sex comedy than a romantic comedy), it was pretty good. Granted majority of rocom's are crap, this one was watchable & had some humorous parts. I'll give it 3 X's out of 5.

You didn't pay for tickets so you escape my wrath here, but how shit is Gold Class for the money it costs? They are like $40 or $50 each and for that you get a big seat and the opportunity to be interrupted repeatedly during the movie by a waiter.

Watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine earlier and thought it's pretty decent compared to those other comic-based films in recent years. Deadpool is a kickarse villain. The only complaint against it is the boss' (Stryker)omnipotence over the mutants.

umm lets see what my movie list is for the summer.
Transformers 2: I love the first one. I think its exactly what a transformers should be: robots killing each other. This one was just stupid. for a movie where optimus is dead the most of it: they have way too much hope and comedy it is also impossible for this movie to get cheesier. Basically Megan Fox being sluttier in it is the reason to see it...and since she had topless pictures come out: there is now no point in the movie.

Coraline: Strange little movie about a girl who finds a parallel universe. Supposedly Neil Gaiman written. I wouldn't call it bad: but it wasnt what it was advertised as. Family movie it aint.

Watchmen: Saw it again on DVD...Fuck this movie. It misses the point. Its so over the top and comedic...thats not the mood the comic has and its not how the idea should be approached. Visually its cool, and the acting is fine...but Zack Snyder destroys this movie.

Bruno: This movie sucked. I love Borat, I love Ali G, hell i even think sacha is hilarious as the lemur king in madagascar. But bruno is a 1 note joke for an hour and a half: "Brunos really gay, it weirds people out...and look...A DICK". Seriously: watch the movie for the pattern. Theres no satire, no substance to this one. Skip it even if you love his other characters.

Public Enemies: not johnny depps best outing. Was I entertained? Sure. Was I wowed by this movie? nope. Pretty predictable and not enough of the 'character' to make for a good flick. Way more drama than action movie.

Taking of Pelham 123: Denzel Washington and John Travolta are badass. Thats about all there is to this movie.

I actually liked that one, I thought it really had that Tim Burton vibe to it, the story was fairly good, and you gotta be amazed at how they create such animation movies, that's beyond hard work and patience...Plus it looked fantastic on blu-ray.

I had never seen Bloodsimple, which is the 1st movie by the Coen brothers, it's old but it was alright. It's no Fargo or No Country For Old Men, but it was fairly entertaining.

That's nothing once you've been to this theatre...

I recently saw Miss March and The Last House on the Left. Miss March was over the top, but it had some very hilarious parts. I'd say check it out. Last House on the Left was just wack.

I've been to Gold Class 3 times, once with work function & twice when given free tickets (once as Xmas gift & this time as gift from boss). As I told my wife, was good to go to it, better than normal cinema experience (marginally though), but I wouldn't pay the very pricey $37 for the tickets. Only way I go is when I get free tickets. The food & drinks are overpriced too. Didn't really get interrupted by waiter, they just bought the drinks once & the food once. So two 5-10 second interruptions in the whole movie. I made sure to sit on opposite side to the one they come in & not close to front, so it was alright.

I don't even like paying $14 for normal cinema, usually $10 is my limit as most movies that come out are crap.
