Has anyone else seen the new (possibly fake) SummerSlam poster, with DX over nWo? It looks sick, probably fake though.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 12:32 pm

I haven't seen it but seeing as though there's been no talk of bringing back the nWo I'm guessing it's a fake. They've already released a Summerslam poster with a poolside motif.

Sat Jul 29, 2006 3:49 pm

its for survivor series, not summerslam. dave meltzer has confirmed it as a fake though.

EDIT: lashley's cleared to compete as of the next smackdown taping.

Although Internet wrestling discussion unanimously condemns the WWE Diva Search, the past two installments were television ratings successes. Segments involving the women were often among the most-viewed non-main-event quarter hours of RAW.

Early ratings for this year's competition, however, provide a better window into what fuels the Search's popularity.

The segment on last week's RAW, which featured the first elimination, provided a very nominal ratings increase. Even though it was paired with a Ric Flair angle, it essentially had no net effect on RAW viewership.

The Bikini Bootcamp segment on SmackDown, however, was a colossal success. The segment brought an additional 565,000 viewers to the network and actually performed significantly better than the main-event.

The geographical breakdown told the same story. It was the most popular segment in almost every major region of the country, and drew far better than the show's average.

Although future ratings numbers may contradict these results, the clear implication from the aforementioned numbers is that viewers are primarily interested in the competition for the silly, yet sexy "challenges." The results of the competition itself (eliminations) are not as significant a priority for viewers.

The WWE website is reporting that the main event for this year’s WWE SummerSlam on August 20 at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA will be John Cena challenging Edge for the WWE Championship. It states that the championship belt can change hands on a DQ. The announcement of John Cena facing Edge for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam is featured on both John Cena’s WWE.com profile and Edge’s WWE.com profile.

John Cena’s Profile:
The WWE Championship will be on the line when Cena and Edge meet at SummerSlam. However, this time if Cena wins, even by disqualification, he will win the championship as well. Will Cena finally be able to kill the Rated-R Superstar streak?

Edge’s Profile:
The WWE Championship will be on the line when Edge and Cena meet at SummerSlam. However, this time if Edge looses by disqualification, he will lose the championship as well. Will the Rated-R Superstar still be able to stay one-step ahead of Cena?

Matt Hardy got SQUASHED on Smackdown. Damn, they found someone to replace Henry quickly.

Some quotes from Randy Orton on his suspension, courtesy of Rajah's:

"My problems came to a head when I decided to smoke a joint and someone smelled it and stooged me off. You know who you are, so if you are reading this, thanks. But I've also had a few outbursts of anger on the road. I get loud and verbally abusive. But I've nipped that part of me in the bud."

"I just poured a bunch of ointment and Flexall and tanning lotion in her bag; it was like a Louis Vuitton bag. I was fined $8,000 for destroying the bag. I've been fined many, many times." (Referring to an unnamed Diva).

"The reality is the company brought in this Diva and she couldn't walk without falling over her own two feet. She had no respect for the business. She'd say, "I'm here to help your show, it's not doing too good. She would call people by the wrong name and rub us the wrong way. I took it upon myself to mess with her my own way."

I don't know what to make of him, really. After all, he too has apparently behaved like that towards other wrestlers and rubbed them the wrong way. It doesn't sound like he's learned his lesson.

ugh...that king booker promo made me want to throw up. the sooner they get rid of that gimmick, the sooner i'll watch television featuring booker huffman.

Fri Aug 04, 2006 8:13 pm

I like King Booker. The old gimmick was getting stale. The entrance is annoying though. The one with Regal in it at least. I haven't seen smackdown in a while so I wouldn't know how he's doing his entrance now

JEFF HARDY SIGNS WITH WWE

Courtesy of WWE.com...

His own fate twisted
By Craig Tello
August 4, 2006

After spending three years combating his personal demons, a refocused and rehabilitated Jeff Hardy is prepared to return to the place where he began his career as a teenager.

WWE.com has learned that WWE officials have rehired former Superstar Jeff Hardy, more than three years after his release from the company. WWE.com has tried to contact Jeff about his rehiring for two days, but in typical fashion of the free-spirited Hardy, he has yet to return any of our calls.

For this unique athlete, it has been a turbulent, arduous road back to WWE. In 2003, just as Hardy began to make his ascent to the top of World Wrestling Entertainment, he came crashing down as a result of a poisonous drug dependency. He was plagued by an addiction to pain killers and methamphetamine (crystal meth), a highly addictive stimulant.

After showing up late for several WWE events and demonstrating a deterioration in his in-ring performance, Hardy’s last match in WWE was on March 24, 2003. In May of that year, Hardy failed a drug test and after refusing to go into drug rehabilitation, he was subsequently fired from WWE.

In 1993, at the age of 16, Jeff and his brother Matt, 19, started working for WWE, wrestling against contracted WWE Superstars. It wasn't until 1998 that the brothers were given full-time WWE deals. That year, the Hardy Boyz almost instantly became top-tier contenders in the WWE Tag Team division.

Both talented risk-takers with dynamic in-ring chemistry, the Hardyz revolutionized sports-entertainment, employing wild aerial maneuvers that did damage to both their opponents and themselves. Capturing both the WWE and WCW Tag Team Championships, the Hardyz made their strongest impact in their epic Tables, Ladders and Chairs Matches with the Dudley Boyz and Edge and Christian.

Shortly after the WWE brand extension in 2002, Matt and Jeff were split apart and Jeff found success as a singles star on RAW. After the split, Hardy began to display his most unorthodox side, adding uniquely colored body paint to his ever-changing hair color.

Perhaps the highlight of his singles career was his Ladder Match with Undertaker for the WWE Championship in July 2002. In a match that no one believed Hardy could win, Jeff brought his abilities to a higher level unlike anyone had ever seen in him before. That night, Jeff did not walk out as WWE Champion, but he earned the respect of not only The Phenom, but of all who watched the contest. People started to acknowledge Hardy’s true talent – a talent that was curtailed and snuffed out due to his addiction.
Holding a number of championships, Hardy was en route to reaching the summit of his sports-entertainment career until it all came to an abrupt end due to his erratic behavior and drug use.

Overcoming addiction is arguably the greatest victory of Hardy’s life. And as a renewed Jeff Hardy prepares to reintroduce himself to WWE fans, one can only expect Hardy to earn his greatest career victories and even larger triumphs when he makes his long-awaited return home.

Sat Aug 05, 2006 12:55 pm

It's expected. Jeff hasn't been used in TNA for a long time. They were just keeping him because he sells merchandise to kids. TNA can't handle his work ethic. Maybe he can team up with Matt again, revive both their careers and revive the dying tag team division in the WWE.

I think they will reunite..but I don't think theyll have the level of popularity they once did...and i dont think they can form Team Xtreme anymore, with the Lita-Matt situation and all...just the Hardy Boyz

Driven and (especially) the ambitious part. Check.
It's to the point where people call me crazy.

Sometimes viewed as arrogant. Check.

Want to be the best part. Maybe.
I want to be the best based in my own standards and not to compare myself to others. Even if they are better than me, they do know not to mess with me.

Sometimes lose sight what is enjoyable in life. So true :( . Check.

Determined to succeed. In my own way. Hell yeah.

The description with mine was pretty accurate. I just don't want to be compared to Jeff Hardy. His full name is Jeffrey Nero Hardy for pete's sake.

They still could add Shannon Moore, and then maybe if they traded the new age Xtreme Team to ECW for Kurt Angle and iunno, someone else that fits SD more than ECW, it'd work well.

But yeah, personally, I think wrestling sucks these days because there's no sense of kayfabe. WWE website reveals all their moves and everything, and the internet contributes to it... back then when everyone would watch the shows just to see what happens, now they can guess what's gonna happen. Like the Jeff Hardy signing... if a limited amount of fans knew that, and Jeff Hardy appeared, that'd be pretty surprising and awesome. Also, the fact that there's very few fueds going on is another reason why. I remember before, every belt, there would be multiple feuds for that belt, or one blown out feud. Now, it's just random wrestling, or none at all, anyone remember Orlando Jordan's U.S Title run? But it's nice to see WWE is making an effort to revive their tag team divisions.

You're right, that is something definitely lacking these days. The DX return was spoiled by the WWE weeks in advance, I think it'd have more of an impact if it just happened without any pre-warning. Exact same thing happened with Goldberg's arrival, and the nWo which was doomed from the start.

Thu Aug 10, 2006 5:15 am

Hey people, I'm not a big WWE fan, and I don't watch it very often, but in the past days I started looking at the history of WWE...

And I saw some people using words RIP with Big Boss Man...

Umm... Is he really dead?

And has it something to do with his match with the Undertaker?

Edit. I mean the Wrestlemania 15, Hell in a cell match...

Thu Aug 10, 2006 1:30 pm

Big Boss Man (Ray Traylor) died from a heart attack a couple years ago...

The matched where he was hanged had nothing to do with his death. lol. If it was, it would've been all over the news.

Sat Aug 12, 2006 5:22 pm

shawn michaels has just signed a 5 year, $7.5M contract.

Trish Stratus is in the process of being writter off TV. her last match for WWE will be at unforgiven.

*SPOILER*Cena will win at summerslam in his hometown, with edge regaining the title at unforgiven. the feud is expected to go till survivor series, with edge the eventual winner.

I'd agree with that, I know I'm definitely guilty of doing it. I guess I could just refuse to read news and spoilers but on the other hand its human nature to be curious and when it comes to information like that it's a matter of a few mouse clicks on the Internet to find it. It's a hard habit to break because the inside scoop is always interesting.

 I used to do that too, constantly check prowrestling.com and their forums, but then realised I was cheating myself since it was pretty much similiar to watching reruns after reading about everything on that site. Then WWE started leaking their news I just stopped watching all together. (N)

Even if I avoided spoilers and insider info, I'd still be inclined to check out the TV recaps to see if it was worth watching, at least with the quality of the current product.
