Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

I finally got around to reading Bret Hart's book, my real life in the cartoon World or wrestling or whatever it was. It's brilliant, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Especially cool reading stuff from his early days where he'd write about wrestling at small events in Hawaii and nonchalantly mention meeting a giant muscular blonde guy called Sterling Golden, then he's like "he would later become known as Hulk Hogan" or talk about The Rock as a kid hanging around outside of the locker rooms while Hart was wrestling for his grandfather's promotion. Definitely worth a read if anyone hasn't checked it out yet. I also watched the Bret vs Shawn dvd which was a bit less interesting but still good

Oh I read The Death Of WCW as well which is simultaneously hilarious and sad. It really boggles the mind how they could have been so clueless at times, like Sid Vicious suddenly claiming to have gone undefeated in WCW (despite there being footage of him losing) and his number of wins somehow jumping by 10 after losing three house shows, guys losing No-DQ matches by DQ, falls count anywhere matches by count out etc

Both fantastic books, a must-read for wrestling fans. Hart's book is an awesome look behind the scenes and The Death of WCW really makes you wonder how they managed to survive as long as they did with all the backstage chaos. Speaking of books by R.D. Reynolds, the two Wrestlecrap books are also a fun read.

I picked up the Bret vs Shawn DVD as well. I enjoyed it, it was a pretty candid interview though they perhaps could've spent a little less time on the early years and covered a few more of the more contentious and controversial moments leading up to the Montreal Screwjob.

Orton would be watchable to both grown ups and kids if his character was like that. Unlike Cena.

orton was such an amazing heel. it's a shame they've turned him into a mini-Cena

Orton's character still has a bit more of an edge, but he has suffered a little from his own Superman booking since the face turn, no question. That's been scaled back a bit though with Mark Henry's title reign and the current program with Wade Barrett.

yeah Cena would never get is relegated to putting a heel over or being taken out of the main event picture. his heel character was so badass though, i miss it.

I've read that Cena himself was keen to take a break from the main event scene, change up his character/turn heel and has even agreed with the suggestion to go back to a more traditional design for the WWE Championship. Unfortunately, the man making the final decisions has other ideas.

Masked Kane returned.

I guess it's good because a lot of fans have wanted to see that happen, but for my part I find that a bit puzzling. We've seen him unmasked for almost a decade now, the mystery and mystique of the mask is long gone.

Plus seeing people that think that the Kane who chokeslammed Cena is actually Undertaker. :shake:

Tell me how that guy is fucking Undertaker. If it is otherwise, I will never post again.

You'd think the lack of tattoos would be a dead giveaway.

Their main argument is the hair. Obvious that they didn't know how the old Kane's mask worked before he revealed his face back in the day.

There's also that but the tattoos really are the main argument against it being Taker. His arms are covered in them, as I said it'd be a dead giveaway.

 I also read somewhere that "That's not 'Taker, he doesn't have the 'Sara' tattoo on his neck." :shake:

I guess these rumours and pro wrestling go hand in hand. I'm sure there's still people out there who believe that two different men portrayed the Ultimate Warrior when it's always been the man formerly known as Jim Hellwig.

So it seems the cryptic videos that have been appearing for a while would be The Undertaker again. Yeah like they haven't use it a million times for Taker

I kept clicking the playback and it doesn't. Damn you Lean! :cussing:

Those are the current rumours and since he's actually under contract while Jericho isn't, it seems likely. At least these ones have been a little different.

John Cena is not book in any match at TLC?

Yeah, that's certainly unusual. I'd suggest there'll be some swerve or circumstances that allow him to make an appearance.

The time he unmasked was the only time the mask had hair on it, to be fair.

I'm interested to hear the official explanation in storyline as to why he's wearing the mask again.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:05 am

And how he grew his hair in-storyline too.

I guess that's one of the things we're not supposed to think about, but the decision to wear the mask again is relevant and important to the character and return angle.
