I think most of us are aware of that, but as you said the design is basically the same so it's an easy enough way to refer to the design. Kind of like how 3.5" floppy disks weren't actually floppy.

Well, given that, this comment seems a little odd:

And really, the design is hardly horrible. The spinner itself is stupid, but it works alright as a belt. Better than any belt they've introduced since.

Again, I'm referring to the basic design but if clarification will help move the discussion forward, I would prefer they adopt a more traditional design rather than the "pimped out" concept used with the original spinner belt and most recent design.

The only design aspect that's indicated by the term 'spinner belt', particularly concerning possible future designs, is that it spins. Given that this one no longer does, I see no reason any future one would, and thus that sentiment seems entirely unnecessary.

I really don't mind the design, to be honest. Though if they're not spinning it anymore, the could at least curve the faceplate, not that anyone wears the belts properly these days.

I assume from Daniel Bryan's promo that RVD and Ken Kennedy officially never existed?

As I said I'd rather they went more traditional with a new belt, like the eagle belt or the design they were using immediately prior to the current base design, since it's more appropriate for a gimmick that Cena himself isn't even using anymore. Their recent track record with new belts is spotty but hopefully they'll put a bit more thought into this one being a major title (for whatever it's worth these days) as opposed to complete afterthought titles like the tag champs and Divas belt. Guess we'll see what they're going to do next week when they complete the title tournament. I'm picking Miz to go over.

Of course RVD and Mr Kennedy never existed. There is nothing outside the WWE Universe.

You only noticed that now? You can even see it during the replays while the match was ongoing (assuming that you saw MitB).

The hilarious part about that was that he went from selling a beating from Kane, to popping up and doing the whole 'That didn't happen, I'm okay, I'm okay' thing.

ugh, the new WWE belt looks like someone went to town with a bedazzler, it looks so cheap and fake...... but at least it's not a spinner

So essentially another "pimped out" design in the vein of the most recent belt concept?

it looks like the same design as the spinner belt, but flatter (no spinning area), and cheaper.

Awwwww snap, Punk's back, new theme music "Cult of Personality" fuckin' a :headbang: :headbang:

JR is back too

aaaand a double WWE championship change up, first Rey wins, then Cena later, then a stare down between him and Punk (too soon IMO)

I'll definitely have to catch RAW when it airs here tomorrow.

:lame:

One can hope too much I guess.

EDIT: Also giving Rey an unnecessary title reign is :lame: I can understand if Miz won the tournament and have Cena beat him afterwards. And I also feel Punk's return is a bit too early.

Was about to post some sort of facepalm gif if it weren't for the last two minutes.

One could hope they'll introduce a new Undisputed Championship belt at Summerslam or something.

As far as giving Rey another title reign, I don't think it really matters. In the long run it remains to be seen how they're going to handle the reigns in the title history with two belts basically representing the same title and the unification/undisputed championship angle they've set up here. Hopefully they avoid overbooking the angle, so far they've done a pretty good job following the initial promo and Punk winning and leaving with the belt but they could easily kill all the heat on it with needless swerves and complications.

I remembered Punk also mentioned in that promo before MITB that "the first thing I'll do is to change that title because it's been far too ugly for far too long."

I'm still hoping though. I think the only good-looking belts they made the past few years were the Undisputed belt, the silver ECW one, and the current tag team titles (though I can't find the connection between the Spartan helmets and being tag team titles).

WHAT? The tag titles have to be by the far WORST belts in wrestling history. even the hardcore belt was better looking than those eyesores.

yeahpunk came back a lot earlier than expected, but they have to capitalize on the story while it's hot. and JR/King only team was great. it made the rey/cena match tolerable. it's nice to hear actual moves being called again

Well the tag belts look better than the flagship belt -- to me at least.
