Given the way Vince phrased it, specifying that Cena would be fired if Punk walks away with the title rather than if Punk beats Cena, that's what I'd put my money on.

True, though a DQ/countout finish wouldn't be much better than the seemingly obvious outcome. Who knows, an 11th hour contract extension might well change the whole thing.

I've read suggestions that Punk will win the title but then a MITB winner will ultimately end up cashing in the shot and immediately winning it back to end the PPV. Seems a fairly likely swerve, if Punk wins and the PPV is running short I'd say it's almost guaranteed to happen.

Excellent quoting job.

i have no idea why cole still reverts to his heelish tendencies even after losing to King & JR. there is no point to it besides just to be annoying
Sun Jul 10, 2011 7:18 pm
Yeah, I thought that was over and done with. I still say they should've written him off TV for a bit to let the heel run blow over and freshen him up a bit. I guess at the end of the day he'll never be JR no matter what, but I'd prefer if they left his heel run far behind. As you said, it's just annoying; there's a reason they traditionally have face play-by-play guys while the colour commentator works as a heel or tweener.

yeah i thought King had a great run as a heel commentator back when he still wrestled. him teaming with Kane aka Isaac Yankem DDS (lol) against Bret Hart. he was always good for an insult when it came to the Hart Family

Destination X has been an awesome wrestling PPV
Mon Jul 11, 2011 1:08 pm
was there a jay lethal appearance?
Mon Jul 11, 2011 1:13 pm
there was not, but we got Shark Boy
but every match except for the Douglas Williams one is well worth a watch.

Williams-Haskins was a better match than Kendrick-Abyss. But then Kendrick-Abyss was never going to be anything special.
Love that they pumped up Haskins as the big new thing, only for him to literally fall flat on his face. AJ appeared to slip on the springboard elbow, too, so I'm not sure what they did to the ring ropes.

CM punk's last appearance in WWE?
Mon Jul 11, 2011 7:29 pm
At a house show? No. He'll work MITB, then be gone.
Nice job by the sound guy, though.

too slow of a pace for an X division PPV IMO. and who kicks out of an RKO, really...

It looked like they MacGyvered the turnbuckles. They were way too long, loose, and couldn't support any weight.

Orlando Jordan has been released from TNA meaning....
...all of the talents brought in for the Impact Monday launch in the beginning of 2010 as part of the Bischoff-Hogan regime - with the exception of Ric Flair and Jeff Hardy (who's not currently being used) are now all gone from the company.
Personally I don't like Kendrick being the "face" of x-division, and it seems like they've forgotten about Shannon Moore (who's a good fit for TNA imo) and Mr Anderson (who is also really good in TNA)
Wed Jul 13, 2011 5:05 am
^showing that bischoff-hogan still have no idea what they are doing. and in the mean time, they have let a bunch of good talents go or go to waste. the list is pretty long.
and during that first segment with punk & cena, i instantly flashbacked to when the attitude era began. stone cold was supposed to be the heel and bret hart was supposed to be the babyface. all of a sudden they began cheering stone cold and he became the babyface. iff vince were smart, he would turn punk babyface and cena heel but that has 0% chance of happening.

I watched a clip of the new "Joker Sting" gimmick the other day. It seems...unnecessary, and kind of shoddily done to boot.

Exactly what I feel about the promo. I'm guessing Punk will turn face then have a feud with Vince -- of all people.
Wed Jul 13, 2011 6:45 pm
i would be pleasantly surprised if they did that and fired cena "for real", effectively writing him out of the script to film a movie
Wed Jul 13, 2011 7:31 pm
Please. For once they do that to get him off-screen unlike the Nexus feud. That was poorly done (which I believe Punk mentioned that feud in his promo yesterday)
Wed Jul 13, 2011 10:51 pm
That'd be awesome, but all the dirtsheets have CM Punk finishing up with WWE (at least for the time being) this weekend. They could be wrong of course, they certainly have been before, but I have a feeling that the reports are accurate in this case.
