Been a while since SP has stringed together this many good episodes in a row. There hasn't been a bad episode since Funny-Bot.

The clever commentary on college "student athletes" in this episode is hilarious. Lot of exploitation going on, although I would say it's not entirely true, as the "student athletes" receive scholarships.

We weren't subject to the NCAA rules ourselves but I had alot of friends in college put up with this bullshit. (Wheelchair sports apparently aren't "real" sports)

Pretty good episode. And I have to admit in a going to hell for this moment, i cackled when the video of what the CBAA was doing was shown.

It wasn't that funny, but Cartman exploiting it and abusing profits to create a hot tub full of gravy and McDonalds fries was.

Also love the Denny's table. Everything here is made with bacon!

I have to admit I was about ready to write the episode off in the first couple of minutes. I feared it would be another standard Kyle vs Cartman plot which has absolutely been done to death at this point, but I liked that they went in a different direction and had them on the same side for once, with Kyle struggling with his conscience instead. Pretty funny throughout and I too enjoyed the commentary on exploiting college athletes.

I wasn't a big fan of the premise itself, as it was too absurd even by SP standards, but I gotta admit that they did something quite good with it, and the episode had some pretty epic moments.

What "premise" are your considering? I view this type of stuff as a reductio ad absurdum. All the way back to Gnomes and episodes like that.

I piss in your face.

The whole crack baby basketball thing. I was waiting to see what they were gonna do with crack babies, but I didn't think this was the funniest choice.

Crack babies = "student" athletes.

It was criticism of the college recruiters that take the inner city kids (crack babies) and exploit them for their own gain.

I guess I hadn't thought this through then, but yeah the rest of the story wouldn't have been possible without this premise...

It was an instance of them taking something absurd but comparable to better illustrate the point. People are fine if they're "student" athletes but when you start doing it to "crack babies" people are all of the sudden upset!

Reductio ad absurdum.

Butters episode was meh. He should be more of a support character because he can't carry an episode by himself.

There are a few episodes where Butters played a major part where he was hilarious, like the tap dancing episode. But I didn't really like this one. Seemed like a letdown after TMI, Royal Pudding, and CBAA.

I like Butters but in small doses. Like the intro to TMI where he was referencing the Terminator "movie"

"That's not a movie, Butters"

I would agree with Jao and benji, this was freaking epic, much much better than the previous episodes this season.
Butters is awesome.

Yeah, I thought it was a great episode. I don't know that I'd put it ahead of TMI or CBAA myself but it was right up there.

Wow.

I hope this isn't the end of a comedic institution. Some of the episodes have not been quality this year, and SP is declining compared to prior days. And TV shows have to end sometime. But I don't think SP is ending with that episode.

If SP was ending, there'd be more fanfare about it than this. The preview for this episode gave no indication of a series finale. The episode may be a harbinger of SP's impending end, though. I think this episode ends up being a two-parter, or even funnier, it's completely ignored and next season, Stan and company are friends, providing clever parodies of recent news stories, like this episode never happened.
