So far best game imo just ended, Holland-Italy. All great goals, although 1st one was clear offside. If they continue to play like this, they have a very good shot at the champs. Good to see van Bronckhorst having a good game

Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:43 am

Nice 3-0 against the champs, not too shabby if I do say so myself. :D

Tue Jun 10, 2008 7:17 am

Best thing about the game was the Italian announcers completely shutting up for the rest of the game after Sneijder's goal. Total satisfaction. Only good thing that happened to me today.

Tue Jun 10, 2008 8:14 am

Ratrac No, it was no offside. It is a very rare rule...even an Italian player lying behind the line (he had collided with the goalkeeper) counts as a defender...and therefore it was no offside and a legal goal. The German expert on TV did not know it either...it is a rule that hardly ever applies.

Agree. I saw that rule being applied in a game too.
Argentina vs Colombia I think.

Anyway, 2-0 or 3-0 Italy lost. Very nice game.
I don't like Holand very much, but I hate Italy (probably because they're
the champions and they got help from the referees in the World Cup)

Sweet game by the Dutch guys (Y)
Feel bad for Romania though, Italy is going to take out all its anger on them.

After I rewatch it, I notice that. I didn´t see him there before, that´s why I thought it was offside. Then it isn´t offside yeah

Tue Jun 10, 2008 11:29 am

yeah, amazing game by the Oranjes (Y)

i have Ruud and Bronkhorst on my fantasy team, so im :D

now i need a good showing from Espana tmw...

edit: is anyone else here playing the ESPNsoccernet fantasy challenge for EURO08? i'd like to know so we can compare scores and stuff as this rolls on :chug:

Tue Jun 10, 2008 2:52 pm

The best thing was that Holland won Italy-style (Y). And if it wasn't for Buffon it could've been 4 or even 5-0

Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:55 pm

That game was really nice, yeah.. Italy like, underrated their opponents imo, but then fell behind and couldn't find a way back up. Nice game by Holland.

Damn Greece :-x 0-0 at halftime.
Kicking Zlatan in the balls and Wilhelmsson in the ass, and the constant grabbing and holding. Plus I'm sure they've spent a good 10 minutes just passing the ball between their three central defenders. They're aiming for 0-0 it seems like..
(Yes, yes, very biased (y))

Spain played excellent earlier today in their 4-1 win against Russia (4th goal was offside, but doesn't really matter). They are certainly going to go far if they play like that. I'd say they played better than Holland (Or is it Netherlands?) even..
Russia did play well too, but their defense was severely lacking. Then again, what do you expect when you're constantly having just one player back against Torres/Villa..

Well, I think your happy now :P

EDIT: Wow, another one, Larsson didn´t use the opportunity, but Hanssen was able to score anyway

Wed Jun 11, 2008 7:15 am

Awwwww, damn Sweden...

Hellas sucked monkey balls.

FUCK!

Holy motherfuck, that was so fucking boring. I was eating lunch with my mom and I started cussing at the TV  Damn you Dweaver, damn you to hell.

Switzerland - Turkey is a joke. The pitch is soaked. It is raining cats and dogs. The ball stops after some meters when a player passes. You can hardly dribble and run with the ball.

An indoor pitch would be much better.
What if the rain does not stop? Can the match be postponed?

Who would've thought? Croatia up 1-0 over Germany approaching halftime. The Germans could do almost nothing in the early stages, at least now they are getting a little bit of pressure on Pleitkosa.

I'm cheering for Croatia, so...(Y)

EDIT: Well, well, well. It was a pretty good game, until after the 80th minute. I think Bastian's red was a bit harsh, I've seen people get away with a lot worse than that. Leko (like many others) had the wonderful ability to get hurt in the face when he was shoved in the chest. Not that it would've made much difference to the game anyway.

Fri Jun 13, 2008 3:55 pm

That was probably the worst game that I've seen Ballack, Frings and Germany play. A lot of that goes to the Croatians defense, they just closed down and didn't let them do anything (Y)

Austria-Poland was very entertaining. IMO, they sucked so much that it was even and with a lot of chances to score.

Fri Jun 13, 2008 9:39 pm

Still can't believe wtf happened. Penalty in 93rd minute!! I know the team sucked & if it wasn't for Boruc we'd lose 5-0, but that penalty was just so f***ing unfair.

Sat Jun 14, 2008 6:30 am

Just finished watching Holland-France. Really game by the Dutch. Holland is the real fucking deal in this Euro.

Sat Jun 14, 2008 7:19 am

That was impressive, to say the least. Awesome goals by Van Persie, Robben & Sneijder (Y)

Sat Jun 14, 2008 10:47 am

Happy Holland won but despite the win...I'm going to be in an uber bad mood tomorrow. I can just feel it.

3-1? 3 fucking 1?!?! :? HOW?!

Sat Jun 14, 2008 4:56 pm

Actually it was 4-1 but I am as shocked as you are Jackal! I knew Holand was better and I expected them to have the upper edge over France but even this final score caught me by surprise!

I'm looking forward for a possible Portugal-Holland match.

Sat Jun 14, 2008 8:14 pm

Yunner The penalty against Poland was justified. It was not a hard foul but the decision was still ok. You must not forget that your goal was a clear offside and Austria did not get a penalty at the start of the second half when an Austrian player was held and the referee did not see it.

We should have won 2-0...BUT football is not just about passing and getting chances but also making shots...and Austria missed 3 100% shots...what a shame. It seemed as if we were too afraid to score. You can't win if you can't score.

We played so well in the first 30 minutes, but hell we just couldn't get the ball into the goal.
I was on a school trip the last week, I watched the game with my friends, it was so exciting when we got the penalty in the extra minutes. The whole house went mad.
That tie against Poland was Austria's first point ever in a European Cup.

Now let's finish off the Germans 3-0 and advance to the quarters
