+ 1 to Edward Norton fans. I've only seen two of his movies though (American History X and Fight Club). But those happen to be two of my favorite movies.

You need to see Primal Fear if you're an Ed Norton fan.
WARNING: He's only in the film for about 20 minutes, and the rest of the time you're sitting through a lot of Richard Gere. But Ed Norton is so watchable that you learn to make do.

I had to watch "Freedom Writers" for a class. Terrible. Cliche.
Good teacher/school-related films:
-The History Boys (despite it's gayness)
-Half Nelson (despite the "teaching" shown)

Is that the movie that's basically Dangerous Minds? Only with Hilary Swank.

yup. minus the cool Gangsta's Paradise song.

I just watched Clerks 2. Possibly one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. The whole porchmonkey thing and the "one ring to rule them all" was hilarious.
Pillow Pants LMFFFAAOOO..

Yea the scene in the jail cell was pretty dry, besides that the rest of the movie was great. I'm watching it again tonight and I remember that scene with Jay and Silent Bob in the beginning where Jay's talkin about being an astronaut and fucking a martian. Priceless.

Saw Pan's Labyrinth this past weekend... amazing movie.

^Great movie, Jing. I loved every bit of it.
Did you see it in Spanish, with subtitles or dubbed?
I saw both versions (in its original language and the English-dubbed version) and man, it's a whole different movie, it loses a lot of quality in English.
So if you guys haven't yet seen this movie, and you speak Spanish, watch it in its original language (if you don't, watch it with subtitles).

yeah loved pans labyrinth, saw it subtitled

Saw Find Me Guilty starring Vin Diesel.
It's about the longest trial in U.S. history against a crime syndicate (mafia).
Entertaining, not good but not bad either.
It wasn't Vin Diesel's acting that got me interested of not flicking the channel but the midget (sorry for a lack of appropriate term) that plays the defense's lead attorney that got me glued.

Does the movie show any scenes that Vin is being a badass in? I mean like holding a gun or/and killing someone, getting in a fight or something that could be similar to that.
I got tired of watching 24 all day so I saw Scarface.
I probably watched this movie for the 15th time now and yet still I can't get enough of it. Superb acting by Pacino is a treat for my eyes.

vin in more of a comedian in the movie, not really a bad ass. also he looks like shit with hair. i agree with shadow, the midgit made the movie.
scarface is one of the best movies ever made hands down. it has some of the best one liners ever in it.

^^ None of that Pera. Sauru sums it up. The story about the trial and the midget is what makes the movie watchable.
At least Vin isn't horrible in it, say The Pacifier.
Sauru wrote:scarface is one of the best movies ever made hands down. it has some of the best one liners ever in it.
"Say hello to my little friend!"
And the way Pacino says "cockroach."

my favorite line is
"I kill a communist for fun, but for a green card, I gonna carve him up real nice"
i also really like
"All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break them for no one"
Wed Oct 31, 2007 7:47 am
My favorite one is: "Me I tell the truth.. even when I lie!" or "Make room for the bad guy coming through"
I love Pacino you just can't hate the guy. The fact that he learned the Cuban accent on his own is worth some serious respect. One of the best actors of all time in my opinion.
Also thanks for filling me in on the Find Me Guilty movie.. it seems like its worth taking a look .

Actually, isn't that an actor's job? At least, a good actor's job? I mean, look at Gary Oldman; The man uses a different accent in every movie he makes.
Wed Oct 31, 2007 10:26 am
it may be an actors job but most do not do it, and those who do usually do it poorly. pacino is a rare breed. personally i always liked de Niro more but still, i wish we could have had more movies with these 2 in it on screen together. to date, correct me if i am wrong, there has only been 2 movies with them both in it on screeen together

Gary Oldman is the bomb. One of the great character actors in his time.
Sauru wrote:it may be an actors job but most do not do it, and those who do usually do it poorly
For example: Sean Connery - The Hunt for Red October

^That's exactly why Sean Connery isn't considered to be as great an actor as Pacino, De Niro, etc.

just saw mr brooks. this is a movie i thought i would not like even though everyone i know said it was great, well i was wrong. loved the movie even with the ending(didnt care much for the ending). however i heard rumors that the movie was mad with plans to make a second and third so if thats true then the ending makes perfect sense and i like it lol. anyway if you have not seen i recommend it
Fri Nov 02, 2007 9:21 am
What's the story about?
Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:10 am
without giving away too much, he is addicted to killing. i can go into more detail if you would like but thats the general jist of it. great job by costner but i think william hurt stole the show

Just rented and watched The Hoax, which was pretty cool, and Children Of Men, which is an amazing movie. Completely apocalyptic vision of what's to come, but leaves you thinking, especially after watching the documentary in the special features. Highly recommended.
