You've been watching espn too much.
Matthew wrote:If you need a dvd player, the 360 does have that. But be carefull, it does have region coding, so if you have nba dvd's from overseas, they may not work.
Matthew wrote:If you do decide to wait say 3 months, you might even be able to pick up one second hand in the trading post for $500. Thats purely specualtion of course, but it could happen.
Matthew wrote:I'm assuming your nephew is fairly young? If he is he'll probably love some of the simplier games on xbox marketplace. Last night i downloaded and play UNO and you can even play that against 3 other players. Tell me that isnt cool.

shit, didn't even think of that....I just got a whole bunch of nba dvd's recently (Andrew seemed to edge me towards them in the end Laughing )....
I'll probably trade in PS2, but it'd still be $400 so don't know about that....money isn't the issue, can afford it regardless....mate started working at EB about a month ago, so I'll talk to him & maybe he can hook me up with a good deal once he's been working there a bit longer....staff discount per se....
nephew is almost 6....he's into the Tony Hawk games, Wrestling etc....although I'd like to keep him away from Wrestling for the time being, as he likes to do it on everyone else if he sees or plays it
UNO does sounds awesome....damn, all this talk about it makes me want to go down and get a 360 right now
1. I've heard a bit about XBox Live but really don't know a lot about it....I hear you get Silver edition when you buy console & 1 month worth of Gold....what are subscription/monthly fees like? or can you get Silver free?
2. NBA2k6....no doubt it's a lot better than Live, but it it worth holding out for NBA2k7, or just biting bullet & getting?!?

Matthew wrote:Yeah I didn't think about it either. The following dvd's work:
Lakers, Philly and Bulls dynasty sets(IMPORTED)
All auusie released dvds (dunks and ankle breakers, top 100 plays, nba foundation)
Spurs 2005 championship dvd(IMPORTED)
Ultimate Jordan(IMPORTED)
The ones that dont work:
MJ to the Max
Spurs 2003 championship dvd
NBA @ 50
I have no idea why the 2003 dvd doesnt work and the 2005 does. Maybe they have improved encoding somehow.
Matthew wrote:But if you see a cheap second hand xbox 360, you can trade the ps2 in for some games. EB can very sly in their promotions. For example, alot of people got burnt with their "trade in a ps2 or xbox with games and get a cheaper 360". The 360 was the core version, so no hard drive or remote or wireless controller.
Matthew wrote:Theres a 2 for the price of one deal, tony hawk and gun (an old western style game that got decent reviews) for $100. I've never been a big fan of skateboarding games so i cant tell you if its good.
Matthew wrote:It's such a relaxing game lol. Its like poker for idiots. I love it.
Matthew wrote:Silver is always free, it enables you to do everything but play games online. so you can download games like uno, trailers, roster updates etc. You also get a month free of gold. If you are going to get it, i suggest the starter kit. A year subscription is $80, and that comes in the started kit, but you also get a headset which is invaluable for playing online. But xbox gold is worth it becuase games like halo, and even nba 2k or madden are worth more becuase multiplayer has so much more replay value than single player. But i'll be honest, i dont think $80 a year justifies what it would cost microsoft to run the service, becuase except for ea games its all p2p. With that being said, i'd probably spend $200 a year on it if i had to, becuase it adds so much more to the games.
Matthew wrote:I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the nba 2k always gets released around january here, not early november like nba live. if you get a 360 within the next two months, you'd still have at least 6 months to play it and get your moneys worth. id definately suggest getting nba 2k and halo 2 (i know its an original xbox game, but once you play it on live you'll see how good gaming is) if you do get a 360. Madden is great if you enjoy nfl games, and call of duty 2 is also good.
