Yep, I'm fluent in ASL (American Sign Language). Thanks to that, I don't need to take French.

Not to mention you are already in a position to communicate with most Italians and Greeks.

Nice thread. i lrnt inglish wen i waz lil', yo. My dad went to Milwaukee when I was like 8 years old. He knew some english but not too much, so when he came back I started to ask him whatever came to my mind. When he couldn't translate things anymore, I started to read & read things in english, with a dictionary always near me, so that's how I learnt.

Let me tell you a brief history of English in our country.

Philippines was discovered by Spaniards headed by Ferdinand Magellan on 1521 with the virtue of the quenn of spain. we were Conquered for hundred of years then we were sold to americans around year 1900. from that year upto 1943 when the japanese attacked and conquered Philippines we were colonized by american. after 3years the americans came and liberate the Philippines from japanese forces. From that we were again colonized by americans until we were Liberated by them around 1950s to start a new Filipino govt.

So aside from being the universal language, its also thought in here and i think thats how English became is our second language aside having 70+ Dialects.

:D
