The OED dates its first use in literature at 1741 in William Shenstone's Works in Prose and Verse: "I loved him for nothing so much as his flocci-nauci-nihili-pili-fication of money".

Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940) was and is the tallest human recorded in modern times. Wadlow reached 272cm (8 ft 11.1in) in height and 35 stone (490 pounds/222 kg) in weight before his death at the age of 22.

Impressive... but at least it appears his life was good and he was loved, despite it lasting only 22 years.

Wow, that's definitely a "modern day" giant. I'm glad there was a picture included, cuz that's just absolutely stunning. He would've dominated on the hardwood.

Apparentely he hadn't stopped growing either, so had he lived he could've got up near 10ft

KRS-One - The greatest rapper of all time. One of the most versatile rappers and has been going strong since 1987. Consistently making good music while many of his '87 peers fell off into nothing. Sidenote, originally KRS-One was nothing more than a name originating from his name, Kris, yet when he became 'The Teacher' he adapted it to an acronym for Knowledge Rules Supreme Over Nearly Everyone.

I just watched the first BEEFS documentary, and I thought KRS-One was cool. Probably the highlight of the show was everyone's reaction to the Nelly vs. KRS-One beef
