It's a PSP exclusive, as with Texas Hold Em Poker(The only meaningful mini-game) and Game Show. Eugene Airplane race is pretty much the most wasted addition to the PSP version.

Another thing Yuke's could improve on is previews for the entrance.. Even using the entrance guide from the CAW sites making CAE a chore, especially on the PSP when the load times are just insane.

yeh, DoR2 had zero loading time for that, altho CAW loading times were rediculous. you had to wait at least 20 seconds per menu movement, regardless of if you changed anything.

and while on the subject of load times, what about the CAWs on the pregame screen in exhibition, where they do that little animation and you select "play" or "match rules" down the bottom, CAW wrestlers take at least an extra 30 seconds to load. ability to customise theyre animation would also be nice.

the other thing, with the 3D locker room, i dont particularly like the idea. its just a whole pile of extra loading times for practically nothing at the other end. if theyre going to keep it in next year, how about having it replace the main menu, and keeping everything in the locker room. so after you press start at the opening screen, it takes you to the locker room, which you can still customise and everything, but it actually serves a purpose. it would also be cool if the locker room cutscenes in story mode took place in your customised locker room.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the 3D lockerroom. Like the 3D NBA Store in NBA Live 2005 it was nice and all, but as you said it increases the loading times which is frustrating if you select it by accident.

Thu Dec 22, 2005 8:06 pm

Yes, it is frustrating when you select it by accident :x :x :x :x

And why poker game in a wrestling video match, what happens if you lose, do you get to do suplex your opponent through the table?

Lol, nope. The players just pound the table, show out of character emotions. Before you bet money, call, fold, or check, you could press any directional button to show the players emotions. I did that with Undertaker, and it just looks weird seeing the Deadman flashing a toothy smile like a little kid with a weird glee in his eyes and both fists on the table. :P

That's a problem with the storylines in Season mode as well though. THQ mentioned character specific storylines but that's not exactly true. There are some storylines you won't see if you pick certain characters and other storylines that only feature some wrestlers so the dialogue is in character but usually when you're in control of a character it doesn't always fit...especially if you've got someone like Undertaker or Kane.

Fri Dec 23, 2005 2:16 pm

yeh, undertaker running after torrie's contract... :shake:

another thing would be to put create a moveset and create an entrance inside the CAW menu...so u select to create a wrestler, then you set up the profile, head, body, attire, layers, signs, then do the moveset and entrance as part of those tabs up the top. that way its more self-contained. thats how it was done in DoR2, and i kind of got used to it, so i often forget to give CAWs an entrance or moveset.

there are a lot of people saying that since the ps3 discs are bigger, thq should put more wrestlers in the roster, but i would say that they could use the space for more storyline cutscenes and dialogue, to make sure everything fits each character. when wrestling as the undertaker in season mode, you should get an undertaker storyline, not the CAW one. not every superstar needs their own, but some do. the ones that spring to mind would be boogeyman, undertaker, kane, and eugene. they didnt even have him at all in season this year, it would be good if they made a few extra storylines with the extra disc space.

and andrew, it would appear that that jake roberts cheat (gm mode glitch) is fake...i havent tried it yet but there have been quite a few posts on forums saying it doesnt work, so you'll have to get a psp, or alternatively an action replay disc

another good website is http://smacktalks.org. they have lots of good CAW formulas, as well as an entire section devoted to hacking SDvR06, including replacing the background music with your own, as well as a ton of AR codes not on the codejunkies site

Fri Dec 23, 2005 2:33 pm

Figures. Ah well, I'll have to go without him because I'm not buying a PSP when I don't want or need one (not to mention another copy of the game on another platform) just to unlock one feature.

I reckon they should do both. And you're right. It's often more fun to do a Season Mode with a CAW and usually has been because of the generic dialogue. I noticed a couple of exceptions where wrestlers toss in their catchphrases or whatever at parts of the storyline but generally speaking they're still too generic. But what they've done with the CPU-controlled wrestlers in story mode is an improvement as far as their role in the story and the dialogue is concerned.

The season mode storyline is too much based on ECW (for smackdown) and WCW (or whatever bischoff was planning for Raw) I Think it was stupid to include them, :? meh... I still passed both season modes and won GM of the year so I'm basically finished with the game, I'm too lazy to try and win those other cups where you have to do specific things..

But I did enjoy the Undertaker's Urn thing with Eddie during Season mode, that was good. But I agree with koberulz, more variety of storylines..

That would be a waste just to unlock Jake. Especially with the In-Depth CAW mode this year, you could just make a Jake The Snake Roberts. :)

I doubt Mr. Warrior (which is his real name btw) would want to be in a WWE game

Tue Dec 27, 2005 5:49 am

Yeah, those CAWs look damn great... too bad the PSP has only 16 layers. :x

Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:41 am

Nice CAW's.. Brock Lesnar!!

Tue Dec 27, 2005 11:20 pm

Agreed, some fine work on the CAWs there. (Y) There's some folks that year after year always produce very lifelike CAWs especially as the games have improved. Just goes to show how in-depth THQ's creation engine is already.

Wed Dec 28, 2005 4:10 am

What happened to Brock Lesnar?
I remember 4 and a half years ago I was watching him on Raw with that long-haired dude as his manager or watever...

I started watching wrestling again and he's disappeared :|

Wed Dec 28, 2005 4:41 am

Yeah, he retired to go play football in the NFL...

Wed Dec 28, 2005 6:42 am

Then he came back since he realised he sucks at football, only to have a dispute with the WWE over contract issues, and now he's with New Japan Pro Wrestling. (Y)

Wed Dec 28, 2005 6:45 pm

>Went to NFL> Stuck in practice team or something> Didn't want to go to CFL so he goes back to wrestling> Went to contract negotiations with WWE again but didn't finalize it> Went to NJPW and became the IWGP heavyweight champ> WWE gets pissed and tries to sue the hell out of him since he had a certain amount of time to not be able to wrestle in other feds that was agreed upon when he bought out his contract

P.S. I think he broke up with Sable as well but there are rumors that they were back again

Picked this up again the other day, hadn't played it for a while but haven't really finished with it either. Took a couple of different routes through story mode which was cool, but it's still a bit too linear. Once you've played it a few times you've definitely seen all the twists and turns you're going to see. No Mercy on the N64 had a huge storyline web, as did Shut Your Mouth! and Heres Comes the Pain on PS2. Still a great game though. (Y)

I wonder how many storylines are in the game... I've only played 1 RAW season and 1 SD season. Too lazy to play more :P But so far, SDvR2006 is just too easy. Normal and Hard are both easy, even with adjusted sliders. Legend mode doesn't add smarter AI wrestling, it just basically turns wrestling into a reversal fest. Similiar problems to NBA Live

BTW, does anybody know a site where I can offer suggestions on how to improve/add features to the next version? If only SDvR series had a religious following equivalent to NBA Live's.
