Could anyone get it under 50 kB?
Ahhh man, dont bite the style. You even took the shape of the Yao one.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 5:59 am
Im sorry but you did not invent this banner style, and he made it for someone who requested it after no one said anything in this thread in 2 days.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 6:31 am
Didnt ask for your opinion. Its obviously a copy.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 6:40 am
What? You think youre a king or something? This is a open forum, I can give my opinion on anything I want.
Ive seen Cklitsie have that banner shape like 2 months ago when he had a Trevor Ariza banner so its not a copy from your Yao Ming one, I can also say that you stole that shape from him.
And maybe if he did use some parts for that sig from you....SO WHAT? Dont tell me you made up this style on your own, you also used stuff from other people.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 6:46 am
Please, I made that sig the day I came to this forum. Never seen another like it. Ive been doing graphics since 96, I dont need to copy anyone else, thats what imagination is for, to be creative.
Simply put, Im not trying to be mean here, but I made the sig to be different. Then when other people come around and take the idea, its an insult from an artists perspective. If you cant understand that, then your prolly not an artist. Im not gonna argue about this, if you believe he didnt copy my work, then thats your opinion but anyone who sees what he made and has seen my work will know what really happened. You should let him speak for himself anyway, he even compared it to my work in his post.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 8:34 am
Oh, I didn't know you were such a loser...
Thanks K0be4mvp for having my back.
dsigns please take a look at my former sig, before you were here (made 1/2 by Alex, 1/2 by me)
Please tell how your idea is completely new, I have seen such sig's before, even way before my sig was made
Tue Jan 25, 2005 8:45 am
Aw c'mon dogg, don't be pissin on da man's style. He be getting treated all good 'n' stuff, don't be givin him no competition.
On a sidenote, Dsigns, nevermind my request. I think I'm better off without it.
Specially not if it comes with so much arrogance, that's my department.

Same here, I will steal "your" style and make my own one.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 10:23 am
Sorry man, if you steal anyones work its disrespectful. I would never do the same, if you disagree, oh well. If you lack creative talent, thats your fault. Funny thing is that this site even has a rule that says if you use someones texture or artwork for anything you get permission and give them their credit, but something like this is different?
What worse is to call me arogant when my goal of this post was to make others sigs without asking anything in return.

didn't he already given you enough achknowledgement up there...? sigs with rounded/cutoff corners aren't anything new anyways...
lol i mean, would you really want to see something like this?
rounded/cutoff corners idea by dsigns
ck didn't steal anything... okay maybe josh smith's pic and the vid, but that's
Tue Jan 25, 2005 12:56 pm
Yes he did give me credit, and all I asked for is for him to create something that looks different from the sigs I posted. It looks exactly the same, just a different player. I dont think thats to much to ask.
Go reread what I said, "Dont bite the style". Thats simply advice. Ill put it a different way for you guys: cklitsie it looks nice (i really like the second sig you posted) but try to come up with something different so there arent a bunch of similar sigs floating around.
That better?
Tue Jan 25, 2005 5:25 pm

this is great.
The way I see it... animated sigs aren't anything new, they've been around a while and I've seen some pretty spectacular ones in my time. As far as what ck did, why do you care? It's an internet forum full of teenagers... he's not exactly selling it or anything. I could definitely understand you getting pissed off if he just blatantly stole your style and claimed it as his own, but he even mentioned you in the post.... what else did you want? I guess he could've put "dsigns" on the side of the sig, but I've got my own opinions about that sort of thing
in my opinion... asking for credit for an internet sig or whatever is anal. Ego trip, ][]]ragon style.. except not as bad.
but try to come up with something different so there arent a bunch of similar sigs floating around.
Lol that's exactly what I said, if people are going to be posting with all of these sigs you make then it's going to detract from the individuality. Personally if I had made something as cool as the J-Rich sig, I wouldn't be giving out more of the same... keep it for yourself and let other people admire it, as opposed to trying to get one of their own.
I think calling dsigns arrogant or whatever is a bit harsh, but I can see where you guys are coming from... I know as a graphic designer or whatever you're going to have pride in your work, and you won't want other people doing similar things after they've seen yours and I can understand it... but in this sort of environment, unless it's a Mazzocchi style steal no one's going to think any less of your ability or creativity just based on the fact that ck did something similar.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 5:58 pm
ditto on what Jae posted.
it's just a sig. besides, animated sigs aren't new. cut off sides aren't new. i've even seen flash sigs with sound clips and stuff. don't take it too seriously. he's not even earning anything from it.
i even thought of making one of those even before i saw any of your stuff. i kinda got the idea from some wrestling forums i've been to where almost all of them had animated sigs with sound. but then i never had the time nor have i tried making one of those, i got an idea on how to make them but never attempted to.
Tue Jan 25, 2005 7:36 pm
If you lack creative talent, thats your fault
Damn thats harsh
I blame my parents for that, specially my mother...she is not a creative person at all
What worse is to call me arogant when my goal of this post was to make others sigs without asking anything in return.
+Didnt ask for your opinion. Its obviously a copy.
= Arrogance (Imo)
I still dont see how he is stealing something from you. Your work might inspired him to do something similair to that like you have been inspired by other sigs on other forums(I refuse to believe that you are the first one with this sig style since Ive seen this way before). Stealing Imo is to take a sig made by you, and then erase your name and put another one on it which isnt the case. If I were you I would feel honored that people like your work and want to make something similair to that.

I'll assume you're talking about the Alex/CK made one. That one was made before yours I thinks so shouldn't you be trying something different? The edges look alot a like.
Seriously, who gives a flying eff? The guy just made one similiar to yours since someone requested it in the thread and you happened to ignore the requester. He's helping you out and you take as an insult since he's biting your style. No, he's not biting your style, he was taking care of a request. Biting your style would entail that he made a sig for his own use with the same characteristics as your sig. He didn't do so, he gave a sig to the person that wanted a sig made from you.

I can see how dsigns thought I was biting his sigs, maybe I should have posted something more along with it, like my actual idea behind making it.
I aboslutely love those kind of sigs, but this topic was kind of dead for a couple days already. By filling a request I thought it could become more popular, which means more nice sig's on this forum.
Furthermore I could've came up with my own design, but he requested it from you so I tried to make one resembling yours abit.
I hope this problem is out of the world now, let's all continue to make and use sig's like these.

Like I said man, my post was taken outta context. It wasnt anything personal against you, I really admire the work you & alex did. But as a designer you never take another designers work (i never said I made the first animated sig, it was the similarities in the look). Its an industry thing, because thats how we make money (kinda like using someones lyrics in the music industry), but this isnt the industry so I understand how others could have seen my actions as uptight or outta line. In the end my only point was trying to ask that others come up with something different before others jumped in trying to back you up.
Ive had problems in the past where I find my graphics on others peoples websites. These are websites that were built for money, so its a sensitive issue with me. But these are free sigs so no hard feelings...

Damn, the pack turned really fast on ya.
dsigns, why do you not feel honoured that others want to emulate your style. Get over the "Style biting" and embrace the respect that other people have given you. It doesnt come easy around here, and quite frankly im disappointed in you.
cklitsie, your's is nice. Try adding a another layer to it, maybe some kind of action scene.
I would do it like this.

Main video layer.

Static pic of the player.

Action pic of the player.

Team Logo & player name.

Some kind of texture or effect layer.
