Thanks dogs, and what makes it even worse is the fact that he's decided to use the word "nigga" over and over in the thread. That's something I have mixed feelings about personally but I really didin't want to put him or the issue itself on blast like that.

Have I ever used the word in casual conversation? Of course. Do I use it currently? Yes, in the appropriate setting. But admittedly, I feel that word is something that should be eliminated from the African-American lexicon altogether to tell you the truth.

For one, it's ignorant even if we know the intentions behind it aren't negative when we refer to each other as that. Secondly, with the ever growing popularity of Hip Hop amongst caucasians the danger lies in the fact that they too will feel they have the right to use that word. They do NOT. To offense to my caucasian brothers, but call me a nigga and it's ON. I've been places where I've heard white boys refer to each other and themselves as "niggas" and even some of their black friends.

Sh-e-e-e-e-t! Look, it's not to say if a white guy who's immersed in Hip Hop culture uses the word with his friends is automatically a racist. I understand that on the average rap album you'll hear more "niggas" than probably a KKK member has ever used in their whole entire lives. But I'll be damned if I let a white guy refer to me as a nigga and act like the shit's cool, because it's not.

Back to this clown now, it embarrassed me a bit to see him use the word so freely knowing full well that the majority of members here are caucasian. I feel the same way when I'm on the train and I hear high school kids yelling things like: "Nigga please!" "Y'all niggas are crazy man, I never...." "Man, fuck y'all niggas..." and there is MAD white people on the train. I always feel my face get flushed and can't help but to look at the whites to try and read their facial expressions. Are they laughing at us inside? What are they thinking?

Same applies here, he made himself look totally ignorant and it goes beyond the wack rappers he chooses to represent. What's even more alarming about the situation is how he saw fit to call me out on some unnecessary bullshit, likening himself to some sort of judge of what's real and what's fake. I echo that kid's sentiments, though I think I have a better understanding of the issue. When it boils right down to it there are only two standards of beauty in this world, afrocentric and eurocentric and everybody adheres to one of the two. One might retort, what about Asians? Hispanics? Native Americans? etc., etc. etc. They too prescribe to one of those ideals.
