Honestly, I don't know, but if you look at the most expensive signings in the soccer history, you see the 4 most expensive were all players coming to Real: Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Zidane and Figo. Coincidence?

I love how they're signing every great attacker on the planet, it's like they've decided to give up on trying not to concede goals and just guarantee that they score more. Real Madrid has this aura about them, that's why players will just go there blindly regardless of what it does to their careers (Michael Owen, every midfielder they signed last year considering what they're doing now) and non-English speaking football seems to have some very weird ways of coming up with the money to fund transfers. I think a German team is taking donations from fans so they can buy back Lukas Podolski.

As much as I Iike both Ronaldo and Kaka I'm going to have to say Messi is better than both atm.

World record transfer fee fo Ronaldo, 80 million pounds. Let's hope Man Utd can get either Benzema or Ribery with that cash. Personally I think they should concentrate on getting Ribery because he would be more suited for the squad right now than Benzema especially with the likes of Rooney, Tevez (who is surely going to stay right now) and that deadly, yet the laziest foward I've ever seen, Berbatov.

It's going to be a very interesting La Liga next season, but Real need to buy a good defender, that's been their weak point all season long and no matter how good your attack is, if your defense is weak your fucked.

Yeah, FC Cologne, Podolski's first team, after Podolski doesn't have a regular place at Bayern. He already signed with them for 09/10.

Bayern president said a couple of days ago that Ribery either stays at Bayern or goes to Real. About Tevez, Tevez himself said he will leave, but with the Ronaldo sell, there's a little possibility he may stay. Berbatov, never liked him :P Real need a defender right now after Cannavero left to return to Juventus.

I'm not sure about the transfer rumours I'm hearing about United. Obviously they are just rumours, but replacing Ronaldo is probably going to be the biggest and most important transfer they'll have made in a long, long time. Beckham was the last ultra high profile departure but his productivity wasn't even in the same silicon breast implant compared to Ronaldo. I'm reading Vucinic, David Villa, David Silva, Valencia (bleh) and Nani says he can fill the void... yeah, you do that.

Or maybe...

Michael Owen is bidding to secure a Premier League contract after his management company compiled a brochure on the striker.

Wasserman Media Group has sent the document, which highlights the strengths of the former Liverpool man over a reported 34 pages, to a select group of top-flight clubs.

They sent out a brochure  what team in England would look at that and say "hey wow who is this guy he looks great!".

Ribery to Real aswell? whats their squad going to look like, where are they going to fit all the players, theres going to be angry "stars" on the bench when normally they would have been the main player at their previous club. Players get sucked into Real so easily then when they come they want to leave because they're not playing. Real needs to stop worrying about their attack and buy a good defender, what's wrong with them don't they know common sense.

I have a feeling if Utd don't get Benzema or Ribery then the long awaited Antonio Valencia will be coming to Old Trafford. Fast, good technically, decent crossing, rocket of a shot when he gets onto it, would be good to see him Utd colours.

34 page brochure? That's a lot of folds. One can never go wrong with a brochure resume though.

I'm not a big Valencia to Man U fan personally. I mean they've got Fletcher, Carrick, Hargreaves, Nani, Scholes, Giggs, Anderson etc, it'd be a sideways move IMO. I can't see him having any more of an impact than Nani did.

I doubt it'll happen but Real has a bunch of top quality midfielders now who'd have to be pretty upset. Van der vaart, Sneijder, Robben, Gago, de la Red... I don't think they'd look too much into the last three but VDV and Sneijder haven't done anything wrong at Real, just been screwed around by the constant coaching changes and such. One of those guys wouldn't be a bad pick-up for United.

Nani and Giggs are the only wide players you mentioned. Giggs = too old, has been a great player for Utd but it's time to let the younger players have a go. So that pretty much leaves Nani (btw I thought he had a great first season at Manchester especially since he had alot of pressure being dubbed the next Ronaldo) and Park, who is a hard worker but pretty much nothing more than that. I just think it would be logical for them to sign a good young winger to be there for years to come

True but they are both central or attacking midfielders, and with list you just mentioned (Fletcher, Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes, Anderson) where are they going to fit in? it would be a waste to spend money on a player (and it would be big money for any of them two) that has another 4-5 players competing for the same position, that's why like I said before, it would be best bet to go for a good winger because that's where they will be lacking in depth this coming season.

fuck this post was a bitch writing it on the ps3.

Giggs had one of his best seasons ever last season, and Valencia plays alot centrally as well. One thing I've learned about Sir Alex is that it's really irrelevant where a player plays in the midfield when he comes to the club, look at Anderson. That guy was a flat out attacker at Porto, at Man U he's playing like a defensive midfielder and hasn't scored a goal yet. I'm not keen on Nani, I liked him at Sporting but I can't see him filling Ronaldo's shoes at all. I just think if you sell the World's best winger then you'd want to at least sign someone within the same galaxy as him to replace him, Valencia isn't that guy.

That's true, though Scholes is getting old and not playing well, Fletcher is a bench guy generally, Anderson plays more defensive than either of those two and Hargreaves is apparently out the door.

From Sky Sports:

United target Van Persie - The Sun

Manchester United are keeping close tabs on Robin van Persie's contract talks at Arsenal and will make a move if they stall. Could United get van Persie?

Aguero wants more - The Sun

Chelsea target Sergio Aguero is demanding close to £200,000-a-week to leave Atletico Madrid. Would Chelsea pay that?

Ronaldo yet to agree terms - Various

Cristiano Ronaldo has still not agreed terms with Real Madrid over his world record transfer as he looks for image rights money on top of his wages. What is Ronaldo worth?

Spanish raid on Liverpool - Various

Barcelona and Real Madrid are ready to raid Anfield. Barca want Jose Reina and Javier Mascherano, whilst Real are looking at Alvaro Arbeloa. Will Liverpool lose all three?

United consider Roma deal - Daily Mail

Manchester United are ready to make a move for Roma striker Mirko Vucinic after the Italians made it clear he could leave. Would Vucinic be a good signing?

Vucinic and van Persie? That's more like it.

so Tevez is gone after rejecting Utd's offer of 25 million pounds over 5 years, where do you think he will end up?

Utd is so fucking dumb. 2 seasons ago when Tevez first came to Utd him and Rooney were gun up front 2 of the hardest working fowards in the world, then comes Berbatov, the laziest striker I've ever seen, and his tossed into the starting line up straight away and Tevez hardly plays after that. Berbatov is a waste of money, would have Tevez over him anyday.

btw, anyone see USA - Spain. Damn, what an upset.

Looks like Manchester City is the most probable destination for him; Liverpool and Chelsea are still fighting for his signature. Ribery said that he wants to go to Real Madrid :shake:

One of Benzema's teammates thinks the Man U deal is virtually guaranteed. Eto'o might turn down City (poor City), and it's just dawned on me how fucking insane the combination of Ronaldo and Kaka on one team is.

Re: General Football/Soccer Talk

Yeah, I heard something bout it on Eurosport News that "Lyon are prepared to let Benzema go". Should be good if he comes to Utd, but it's going to be interesting what their lineup will be with Rooney, Berbatov & Benzema there, knowing that each of them "deserve" a starting spot, hopefully it will be Rooney & Benzema the two fowards cause I'm sick of Berbatov and him being a lazy fuck.
