so tonight was the first night of intramural basketball leagues. I heard the team I normally play on (the Filipino Club) was going to have like 8 guys playing on a co-ed game that allows only 3 guys on the floor at all times and girls score an extra point. so I'm not trying to fight for minutes for co-ed basketball, so I joined a different Filipino team, but unfortunately they are not as good as my regular team.

When I'm the most capable ball handler & scorer, you've got yourself a problem. I expect to be the best defender, but I'm not used to playing so many minutes. I get tired fast due to asthma. I start reaching in when I get tired. but yeah, I feel like I'm carrying the team right now (which is not a good sign) but it'll give me good experience & PT before heading back to my team for men's 5 on 5 in the winter. btw, losing sucks balls. getting blown out sucks even more balls. (N) we got mercy-ruled with 2 mins left in the game.

Maybe his glasses' strength is kind of weak, so perhaps he doesn't see the basketball.

uhhh that's what happens when you go to a school full of Asians.
and the team that I temporarily joined for the co-ed league is primarily engineering students/nerds so yeah I'm probably the only one that played on their high school team. man, I can't wait to go back and play 5 on 5 with the regulars. I hate losing.

Kobe doesn't mind losing as long as he gets his accolades. I mean he was the scoring champ last year in a not-so-successful season. plus, you don't knwo how many times I've seen him force feed his teammates to try to get a triple double. he's a selfish bastard.

I've just got a social team....the guy who'd never played basketball is my fiancee's older brother....we needed an extra body at start of year as we were struggling for numbers....we have more numbers these days, but I can't boot him due to the whole family thing....he's slowly getting better though....we call him "Mad Dog" & he wears Horace Grant-like goggles (that tend to fog up) he's a soccer player & has lockdown defensive potential (ala poor man's Bruce Bowen) if he learnt how to play the game....

I can personally relate to that. I don't know whether to feel happy or sad.

I usually forget to keep my hands up on D. No problem with the footwork for me even when some little punk tries some fancy dribble. My ankles usually get crossed when they do it for the first time against me as I learn how they tend to move, but no Iverson-wannabe ever does fancy dribbles against me for the third time because I force them to lose the ball when they do it for the second time.

I still remember the reaction of that punk who got cocky because I fell down when he crossed me. When he tried to do it again I kept my hands up and blocked his attempt to drive and I didn't even body him yet, as I was toying with the prick to show him I've got 'happy feet'. When I saw that he was getting frustrated going nowhere and was about to drive with vicious intent I bodied him up and he lost control of the ball. The bastard tried it again the third time, no more toying with him so I bodied him up quickly and he was forced to pass the ball. He somewhat 'disappeared' in the game after that as he only took jump shots and rarely drove to score.

As for defending in the post, that's an entirely different story.

end rant.

me thinks this is not basketball you speak of.

but being a huge fan of Gary Payton, I'd be embarrassed if I wasn't a good defender. I love nothing more than getting the satisfaction of frustrating a scorer or stopping a scorer
