What's the deal with all these people suddenly popping out of caskets? First Pope, now Angle. And neither time did the casket ever actually have to be open, so there was no need for them to appear magically, simply have them hide in there the entire time. But no, that would make sense and this is TNA.
Wed Dec 08, 2010 6:46 pm
Guess they figure it's worked for the Undertaker for 20 years.
Wed Dec 08, 2010 7:07 pm
Sure, but Undertaker's at least supposed to have some sort of supernatural power or something. Angle and Pope, not so much.
Wed Dec 08, 2010 7:12 pm
True, but that's bringing the concept of logic and established characters into the equation. Madness.

SmackDown! would make a brilliant sketch comedy show, but as a wrestling show it's just pathetic.
Sun Dec 12, 2010 8:30 pm
This episode of SmackDown is totally dumbed down. The only decent part was with the IC angle.
And Paul Bearer is done with the WWE -- again.
Sun Dec 12, 2010 10:14 pm
I put it on for about 5 minutes. I saw Hornswoggle fight an eagle
Sun Dec 12, 2010 10:42 pm
That too. It's ridiculous.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:16 am
The creatives took Edge's crusade against stupidity storyline out, maybe that's why we are witnessing a leprichaun vs eagle match.
I will miss Paul screaming Kane's name. KAANEEE! KAAANEEE!
Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:52 am
It's a shame they dropped that, that was one of their better ideas.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:55 am
Good. Main Event. Knockouts. and TNA. in the same sentence? naww...
Nice bump for the finish too.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:58 am
oh damn i was gonna watch that just for the cage match. haven't gotten around to it yet.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:04 pm
Heard that was an awesome match, amazing finish for a women's match. You certainly don't see that in WWE.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:16 pm
so i just finished watching it. great match, crazy finish. props to Tara (I'm a fan of hers going back to WWE) for working through a legitimate elbow injury. but i really haven't been a big fan of "steel cage" matches since WWE went to the WCW style chain link fence back in the day.
when you say "steel cage match", i think of this:
no referees needed inside the cage. you win by leaving the cage first.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:22 pm
Those cages were notoriously unsafe though. Like banning chairshots to the head, it may take the edge of the product but it's the right move for the welfare of the wrestlers.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 4:46 pm
that said I thought it was interesting TNA was using that design for the Steel Asylum. Granted it was usually for the X-Division but I love the black cage they've been using since the switch to the 4 sided ring

Given the point of a cage is 'nobody in, nobody out', I've never understood that win condition.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 5:44 pm
In kayfabe, it's harder for people to interfere (cue coming through the mat spot) and heels can't take the cowardly way out, bailing to the outside when the face is bringing the fight to them, so in that respect the concept is solid. I suppose I've never really given it much thought but the win condition of being the first to escape the cage is a little weird, but it does create suspense.
Mon Dec 13, 2010 10:45 pm
Oh, I fully understand the way the 'nobody in, nobody out' thing is meant to work, and have no problem with that in and of itself. It just seems silly that the whole point of the cage match is to stop anyone running away, and you win by running away. It's not exactly decisive the way a pin or submission is, either, and is particularly retarded in tag matches, when being closer to victory than the other team leaves you at a disadvantage.

WWE Suck big time now!
Since Shawn Michaels Retired and Triple H got injured i haven't watch it lately unless something good happen.
I hope in Slammy Award The Moment Of The year goes to Michaels FInal Match then The Undertaker rose from the dead and return to his ABA persona and accept the award only to be sweet chin music by Shawn Michaels and issues a Wrestlemania Challenge:HBK vs.The Undertaker One Last Time, that would be cool but i know it won't happen
Mon Dec 13, 2010 11:13 pm
Honestly, I'm glad there's no chance of anything like that happening. There's absolutely no reason for Undertaker to change his gimmick, HBK is retired and deserves to enjoy spending time with his family, and I don't think any encores of Taker vs HBK would do the first two matches or the moments created by HBK's send-off any justice.

I Think The Undertaker needs a new persona because i think his image are broken losing 2 or 3 consecutive ppv's to Kane.Yeah, you're right HBK deserves enjoying time with his family, but you know as a fan you'll always love him you'll think that WWE is HBK because you grew up idolizing someone and look at WWE right now.

as a heads up, during the tribute to the troops that will be on NBC Saturday DX makes an appearance, HBK and HHH

His image is broken? Not in the slightest. The current incarnation of his Deadman gimmick is still way over and at this point of his career, the consecutive losses on PPV aren't going to damage his standing at all, he's well established as a legend in the company and business at large; not to mention interference contributed to a couple of those losses. The American Badass character has been done, it was great for its time but there's no need to go back to it.

yeah i gotta say that cage wasn't very safe, and there was no way you could ever safely throw someone into it the way they throw people into the chain link fence ones. i think being able to escape gives it more excitement, otherwise it would be a standard match with a cage around it for show. i hate it when cage matches end in the ring by pinfall or submission... it leaves me to wonder why they even put the cage there in the first place.
i do like the way tna's black one looks though.
