Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

yeah tag team wrestling is a lost art along with the submission wrestler (though Bryan seems to be bringing it back)
nowadays, it's a silly attempt to hide injured wrestlers or book wrestlers they don't have a storyline for. the recent 7 on 7 tags have been the worst of these recently.
i remember when tag teama wrestling used to mean something. i remember the crazy steel cage match with the Steiner Brothers and IRS/DiBiase, The Smoking Guns, H.O.G. and P.I.G., Men on A Mission, LOD, Headshrinkers, Bushwhackers, etc. I liked the Smoking Guns' tag team finishing move, "The Sidewinder"

At least they unified the tag belts, having a set for each brand was overkill. For whatever reason they decided to keep the history of the new belts introduced at the time of the brand split though, discarding the lineage that went all the way back to those great tag teams of the WWF era.

HA, THE FUCKING MIZ

damn, that had me standing when it happened

Oh god no. How did it happen? Just Nexus beating up Orton and you rusual cash-in?

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Tue Nov 23, 2010 2:26 pm

pretty much, nexus beat down Orton's knee, Orton beat Wade with a Cena pulling the ref interference, Miz cashes in on Orton's knee, shots at the knee, Orton comeback, RKO reversal into the faceplant thing, uno, dos tres.

If looks could kill

Although I'm not the biggest fan of Miz, it's something different for a change.
Also good to see that Super Orton wouldn't win that match.

Still, not sold on Miz being a world champ.
Any predictions on how long his reign's gonna last?

although i don't like his character, i gotta say he is one of the better in-ring performers of all the young guys in the WWE. i actually enjoy watching his matches

Meh, figured it would be happening sooner or later but I still don't much care for The Miz. Though it does make me chuckle to see a lot of people marking out over it over in the WNW comments and voting down any comments that aren't fawning over him. Good for him I suppose, he's obviously worked hard to get better in the ring and impress people backstage.

I think the biggest problem I have with Money In The Bank is that it's become way too predictable. Every MITB winner has gone on to win the championship and in many cases by cashing in after the champion has just gone through a tough match. It was great when it was done the first time with Edge cashing in on Cena and then it was kind of cool when they had Punk cash in on Edge to make things come full circle, but it's a bit stale now. It kind of undermines the championship too, suggesting the only way the person can win the belt is to take advantage of someone who's just been beaten down. They can keep us guessing to a certain extent with the timing of cashing in, but to keep things surprising a MITB winner has to fail to win the championship (at least upon cashing in) one of these days.

Feel kind of sorry for anyone who ordered Survivor Series. Same main event the next night on RAW plus a huge swerve.

MIZ?!? :lame: Oh hell naw, now more reasons not to watch Raw. I like how he pisses off people with his mic skills but his wrestling style is still very lame to me. For a change though, this is good. No Cena, no Orton, nor a Triple H. This is also a great time for Miz to prove himself more after all the work he did.

But still. :lame:

We're treating that kid as a disappointed mark, but maybe she's a smark that sees this as a terrible move for business. Guess we'll have to keep an eye on the ratings and buyrates.

Yeah. I'm still up for the heel Cena idea though. More kids like that will have that look of disbelief/anger on their faces.

I like the Miz, they can only keep alternating the title between Orton and Cena for so long. He's better on the mic than those two and not really fussed what they're like in the ring, Stone Cold was terrible, HHH has 2 moves etc.

I'm sure I've said it before but it's amazing what gets over as a catchphrase. "I'm the Miz and I'm awesome!" always strikes me as being somewhat uncreative, kind of a generic midcard heel sort of line. I suppose it's better than Ken Anderson/Kennedy saying his name twice and even the most famous catchphrases are pretty simple when you really think about it but it still surprises me how over that line is with a lot of smarks.

I think "awesome" in general is a pretty corny. Really these days all I look for mic-wise is the ability to speak confidently without repeating yourself a hundred times (Jericho calling people sycophants) or relying entirely on your catchphrase (Mr Kennedy.. if you can call that a catchphrase). The days of watching RAW waiting and hoping to see The Rock/Austin etc on the mic are very very much over

Yeah good point, though I liked Jericho's most recent heel gimmick at first. He was getting a bit repetitive by the end though.

for the record, I was only using spoiler tags because I didn't know when Andrew got to see Raw, I think we can drop 'em now.

Temporarily, while he's recovering from a hip injury.

John Cena just wrote on twitter that he "bought tickets" for this Monday's Raw in Philadelphia, so there's your next twist in the Cena is "fired" storyline.

A number of WWE live event cards have been updated to reflect that "John Cena's Mexican Cousin", Juan Cena, will be replacing John Cena. So, that's how they will get around Cena being "fired" but still working house shows. You have to wonder if he'll be wearing a Lucha mask.

Same way Miz returned a week later after getting "fired" a while back, as The Calgary Kid.
