Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

So much for separation of politics and grappling.

Val Venis is back with WWE. Might be a backstage/road agent kind of role unless they're repackaging him, since his gimmick doesn't real gel with WWE PG.

Maybe this is the first step of the WWE returning to not PG.

Unlikely, the PG initiative has allowed them land some huge sponsorship deals which keeps the money rolling in. At best, they might be looking to push the limits of PG at times, which I think they should be doing for the older audience anyway.

he might just return as the "big valbowski" character that doesn't come out in a towel or gyrate or dance at all. imo at best he will be a guy to put over younger guys on Superstars.

did anyone see a picture of Triple H's appearance? his body looks like he's been off the roids and more like 1997 HHH

True, they could tone it down as need be and you're right, he's not going to be a prominent midcarder like he was from around 98-2001 or so.

Haven't seen that photo but I did read on WNW that he's significantly slimmer and less muscular following his time off.

Well HHH being a cameo in a voiceover still got the pop from the crowd.

And double-lol on the shaved HHH. Haven't seen clear photos of the recent "Supershow" event, but HHH wrestled with a shirt on? A la Ultimate Warrior with a leather jacket?

EDIT:

Bring out HBK, Chyna, and (the ghost of) Rick Rude, and we have 1997 all over again.

TNA is now banning all unprotected chair shots to the head. Just like the WWE I dont know why they have to announce this, but w/e. Looks like EV 2.0 can finally be over with.

and they are doing some anti-bullying compaign

Smart move by TNA, though banning shots to the head altogether would be in the best interests of all the workers. Good on them for the anti-bullying campaign, too.

it's dumb because in the wwe whenever someone threatens someone else with a chair, i know they're not gonna get hit with the chair unless a) they were already bent over in the first place, or b) they get hit in the gut first.
they should bring back the conchairto, it's pretty much the only way you can safely take a head shot from a chair

I don't know about that. I'd suggest there's no true safe way to take a chairshot to the head, any time you do that spot there's the risk of getting blasted in the head with it. Much as it's been a staple of wrestling over the years and you're right, the avoidance of chairshots to the head does stretch suspension of disbelief when getting people into a position where they can be hit on the bank instead, I think it's a good call by WWE for the well-being of their wrestlers.

bleh, finally getting sick of TNA

they pushed the jersey shore character to the x-division title and ended a PPV match in a no-contest (which I hate).

Announcers claim that Sabu is fired after losing the match.......but then we get a promo with Flair choosing to fire Sabu

Was only a matter before Sabu got canned. After the ECW nostalgia wears off, you're just left with a worker who pulls a lot of no-shows.

to be honest i haven't really watched tna since i moved back from vegas. i watched it with my roommate then and i don't have any desire to watch it anymore. sometihng about their shows that don't appeal to me. too much time with someone in the middle of the ring talking your ear off or in the locker room haveing a reflective moment. what a snoozefest. plus they got rid of the old wcw ring announcer and JB sucks so bad at it. i hate the raw ring announcer a lot and i would even prefer him over JB. i was never a huge fan of ecw so the only draws for me are individual wrestlers that i like. but the shows are still so boring i don't even watch it for my favorite wrestlers like angle, tara, kevin nash (who's gone now), jay lethal, rvd. they've even made jeff hardy not exciting to me

Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam and opens the casket, but there's the Pope inside (apparently he has supernatural pimpin' powers) and attacks Abyss. The referee calls for the bell (in a casket match?) and Abyss escaped.

That's disturbingly WCW-like. No matter what his fans and apologists might claim, I don't think Bischoff's learned a damn thing.

A lot of people have made that comparison to the Divas belt and I see it too. Even if it's just a custom belt for Jeff Hardy's reign, it's not a good design for the major championship in the company.

I wouldn't count on it, knowing Dixie Carter they'll be back even if it was just a one year deal. Russo is still around, after all.

Russo wasn't nearly as much of a disaster as Hogan and Bischoff have been.

Remember how Hogan claimed he was going to be the Vince McMahon of TNA and mostly stick to a backstage role? I wonder if anyone truly believed that.
