Free Kick count:
Brazil: 27
Australia: 6

Refereeinho is pissing me off.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:46 am

The Aussies are playing pretty rough though and the Brazilians are having alot of possession even though Australia is the one needing the goal. They actually are fouling alot (all their players are running for the ball as opposed to Brazil who are just chillaxing around like assholes) and Brazil isnt really going in as hard but when they do they get called.

Maybe another miracle is waiting similar to the Japan game.

I would cry though.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:48 am

Awell, it's over. Australia don't play rough, we just don't piss around like every other European/South American team.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:49 am

So much for miracles. 2-0

They play a man's game. (y)

Actually, when I was typing I was thinking of the Cafu throwdown and the Kaka bundling over where they were complaining as though there was no foul yet it was blatantly obvious.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:53 am

Yeah those were obvious fouls, not sure why they're even arguing over that.

Anyways I can live with 2-0, brings our goal differential to 0 which is fine because we still only have to draw with Croatia to go through.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 3:55 am

Also I think that tackle in Ronaldo's shin area (early 1st half) was a card but I dont think one was granted.

Well Brazil is slowly improving as they say, just not as the pace I like. Maybe if the pattern continues then the next game is 3-0 and the final is 7-0. (Y)

I just don't think they're as good as everyone makes out. Look at Argentina for instance, playing against far superior opposition than Brazil and dominating. Their key guys are older, and the ones coming through aren't quite there yet.... and Ronaldinho has done absolutely nothing.

In all honesty I feel all players in that magic quartet should be benched next game except Kaka. Maybe that will wake them up when they see other guys are on the bench just rearing to go. Adriano hasnt done anything really, and even though he got the goal I woulnt say he played any better than Ronaldo. Ronaldinho, as I tell everyone, is such a great player that he shouldnt be blending in the way he does. He looks so average out there, I dont see how he isnt being criticized. Everytime he gets the ball I hear "The Great Ronaldinho!"

"SHOW ME SOMETHING THAT IS ACTUALLY fucking GREAT WHY DONT YOU!!!"

Man, this is frustrating. If this continues they wont win the cup. They have to make huge strides during the next couple games.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 4:28 am

I'm getting sick of these Australian bandwagon fans. They're acting as if we should've won this game, it's ridiculous. You'd think we got beaten by Togo or something.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 6:41 am

Korea punched one in. The ref should've counted the French goal that went past the line with the keeper.

Mon Jun 19, 2006 7:09 am

It's over now. 1-1...Is France acting serious in this World Cup?? A tie with Switzerland and now with South Korea?? Meh, I don't think they're serious or they're just too old to play (Barthez>35 years old, Zidane>34 years old, Thuram>34 years old, Makelele 33 years old, etc.).

Mon Jun 19, 2006 7:36 am

what an embarrasing World Cup for France so far....

I'm really looking forward to their game against their ancient colony Togo :D

as much as i like Henry (my fav player in soccer) i'll be rooting for the Africans :]

Yeah, I saw that one and I feel sorry for France. I'm sure Thierry is still bitching the same way he did after the Champions League Final.

"The referee was wearing a Korea jersey."

a fairly strong performance by Australia....I never expected them to win & I think a 1-0 loss would've been a fairer indication of the game....was disappointed with Australia's finishing ability as Kewell missed an open net :( Australia created a lot of chances, most scoring opportunities than Brazil even, but just couldn't finish it....some of it was bad luck, some of it was bad decision or bad shots....

Aussies showed heart though & never gave up, & a lot can be said about that....I expect Australia to pick up at least the one point against Croatia & move on & give Italy or whoever they play a scare....I predicted at start of tourney that Australia would make & get knocked out in the quarter finals....I've seen nothing that doesn't make me think that this won't happen....it's all up to the Croatia match though....

Jae, I agree Kewell should start against Croatia....I wasn't surprised Hiddink started him from bench against Brazilians, but I would expect him to start....

and for everyone else, Australia is physical, but up to half those calls were bogus....I call it superstar preferential treatment....some of the calls that went against Australia should have been either non-calls or penalties to Australia, it is that simple....but then again, Australia has to earn its respect over numerous years of playing at the top to get some fair calls I guess....would be nice to see refs call the game fair though....despite that, I still didn't think Australia deserved to win the game, I still thought the lacklustre Brazilian were the slightly better team....

Man, Ronaldinho is so ugly.

"The referee was wearing a Korea jersey."

that's the reason they got to semifinals in 2002.....it's not like they actually HONESTLY beat Italy & Spain.

tonights games suck....i'll opt for DVD's.

France is almost fucked out, say nomore, say nomore, like 4yrs ago... I hope all European Grannies (e.g. france, croatia, s&m, italy, poland, portugal etc...) won't go too far...
and now seriously, what comes to my mind while watching every game on tv: "the team which runs, wins"

Tue Jun 20, 2006 3:02 am

I watched the game on my pc, at like 345 k/s, It's hard to recognize the numbers. :)

Tue Jun 20, 2006 5:28 am

A lot of people think the Patrick Viera heading was a "goal". However, here's proof that it wasn't.

http://2006bbs1.daum.net/griffin/do/worldcup/talk/read?bbsId=W001&articleId=50485&nil_profile=g&nil_specialboximg=3

For a goal to be scored, the ball must cross the line ENTIRELY, yet if you shift the ball down to see if the ball crossed the line entirely, you see that the ball did not cross the line entirely. ERGO, no goal.

I realize it is a Korean site, so you might consider it biased. But I'm just saying it wasn't that clear of a goal.

Tue Jun 20, 2006 7:05 am

That's more biased than Indy talking about the Pacers.

Great win by Spain. They came from behind yo win it 3-1 (Y)
