Sounds like a wild rumour to me, WNW hasn't picked it up and they tend to be the most reliable source. That'd be pretty cool though, even if it was just temporary. I have to admit I'm kind of used to the brand split at this point and the way it allows for two main event scenes to push people and keep the top talent happy, if I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's not ending anytime soon though it may be time to try something new (or old, as the case may be).

WNW's update on the possible title/brand unification:

We've received multiple emails asking us about a report ran by another publication indicating WWE plans to unify all titles by Wrestlemania next year. As of this writing, I am not able to independently confirm that rumor. I can confirm unification ideas have been pitched to Vince McMahon several times within the past several years but McMahon always ended up deciding against it. It's interesting to note Vince McMahon blamed WWE's poor second quarter financial results on the lack of big names in WWE, thus making it more believable he'd consider unifying titles and ending the brand extension.

As things currently stand, Smackdown will premiere on SyFy on October 1, 2010 with its own talent, however, if ratings still slip I look for McMahon to go forth with unification plans of the roster. SyFy was upset with the ratings drew by ECW but bought the pitch for NXT which has actually performed lower ratings than what ECW did. The network has dropped the series in favor of Smackdown hoping for something to drive their Friday night viewership and are expecting higher numbers than that of ECW and WWE NXT.

Seems like it may or may not happen at this point, probably depends on ratings and television deals more than anything else.

I'm getting a hint on the unification since the women's titles would be unified in NoC. Hopefully a start of the whole process -- that would hopefully lead to the scrapping of the spinner.

technically the tag titles started the unification and the women's is next.

Or instead of having to unite all titles, why not just go back to the brand exclusive thingy?

That would only mean that the brand split will continue.

I think they've let too much of the brand exclusive stuff fall by the wayside to suddenly go back to that approach. The only real downside to ending the brand split is that the main event scene could become crowded which may mean some shorter title reigns, but at the same time those reigns might still have more meaning than they would currently as there's only one world championship to chase. It could be done.

Makes me feel that Kane would be retiring soon. :( But it's fitting nonetheless. This IS the promo I knew when I was young.

Agreed, though I'm still hoping another championship reign is forthcoming for Taker. ;)

NXT Season 3 + WWE Attitude Era = Image gigidy

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Agreed. As it stands, the NXT concept it probably going to go out with a whimper with future seasons integrated into RAW and/or Smackdown, similar to the way they were handling Tough Enough at the end of its run.

I like Vickie's rookie diva and AJ.

If they wanted to kill NXT I guess the easiest way to do it is to make it all Divas. No one gives a shit about the real ones, let alone wannabe ones.

so they had a 6'9" girl originally with vickie and she got fired because of non-nude photos taken of her when she was 18 or whatever. we get a nice little rant over it.

To say that this has been a rough week would be a huge understatement. First, my "no-talent" NXT Pro Vickie Guerrero fires me from NXT because she can't deal with the fact that I'm twice her size and not the least bit intimidated by her. I mean, did you see how she humiliated Kaitlyn on national TV last night? This is nothing against Kaitlyn...I think she's adorable, but EXCUSE ME...if Vickie had pulled that stunt with me, she would have found herself flat on her back, under my boot. Kaitlyn, you deserve better than some washed up middle-aged "Pro" who's been resting on her laurels for about the past 20 years or so.

Next, I find out that maybe the "real" reason I was fired was because of some ridiculous lingerie photo shoot I did when I was 18. Um, EXCUSE ME, but if what I did was so unforgivable then can someone please explain why my "favorite" person, VG, has a (censored) nude photo shoot posted on the WWE.com website?

As if that weren't enough, new rumors subsequently popped up on various blogs that I was fired because I was "too green" for TV or didn't have enough experience in the ring. I can't wait to find out what the next rumor will be. I feel like I'm watching myself on the Truman Show, LOL!

Anyway, I'm not here to complain. I'm actually here to thank all my fans and supporters for having my back this past week. I want all of you to know that unlike Vickie Guerrero, I'm not sitting on the couch eating potato chips and watching Days of Our Lives. In fact, I've hired a new personal trainer and I have my first session tomorrow. I may be off NXT, but I intend to use this time to get even bigger and stronger and sculpt my 6'9" body into a veritable work of art. I'll be sure to post video of my training session, you can all see how hard I'm working for you, my loyal fans.

Mark my words...I WILL be back and when I return, Vickie Guerrero, you better pack your bags and run for the hills. And Beth Phoenix, honey...I've got you in my sights as well. Every time you look in your rear view mirror, that's me you see coming up behind you. And yes, I stole that line from Mad Men :-)

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

I heard there were some legit fetish photos of Mickie James out there, no doubt along with a bunch of fake hardcore ones. I'm guessing her removal from NXT is a work, probably because they feel she needs more seasoning in development first but I've read that she blew her first shot with the WWE and her blog post could be at least half-shoot. She's apparently still under a developmental contract though so as of this post at least she's still with the company, regardless of the reason she was pulled from NXT.
