Re: Gran Turismo 5 & Forza 4

You can do it as many times as you like up until a certain time on January 31st.

Takes me about 27 minutes per race using my Tom's Supra (600pp).

damn so i bought the Lambo Diablo but my racer was at only lvl 17. he ran out of strength in lap 8 or so and quickly ran out of mental strength after that. he quickly blew a 14 second lead in the last lap (i did not pit like you said) and the NSX came up on the last turn and beat me by 0.011 seconds :(

that got my driver up to lvl 22/23 and i thought oh maybe he will do better. well he ran out of strength just at the beginning of the last lap and managed to blow a 30 second lead to finish 3rd.

what are the strength & mental bars for?

Re: Gran Turismo 5 & Forza 4

Strength is fatigue while Mental is mental fatigue. Basically, the game wants you to bring up several drivers and have them pit for each other. Easiest way to do this is to find the most lucrative guaranteed B-Spec win and grind from there.

yeah i guess it makes it a bit more realistic. i know now from experience that pushing in the clutch to shift gears can get a little tiring

Re: Gran Turismo 5 & Forza 4

Tue Jan 31, 2012 10:11 pm

Plus it gets really hot in the cars and if you combine that with the time it takes to do a race, fatigue is a big factor. It's good realism.

I hope they open a new seasonal event that pays well as I need money to buy more cars. I've got less than 50 to go until 1000. Alll riiight. :giggity:

hey do they have any regular Supras in this game? not the Tom's Super GT ones. I kinda want one now since I have almost every Impreza in the game.

Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R '90 (image) Standard
Supra 3.0GT Turbo A '88 (image) Premium Standard
Supra RZ '97 (image) Standard
Supra SZ-R '97 (image) Standard

The RZ '97 is the best. Mine has 725 BHP and can reach about 360+ km/h. :cheeky: The SZ-R isn't a turbo and only reaches 381 BHP when tuned.

Guess where I got the inspiration for mine from :P

New update :)
http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5- ... bug-fixes/
A new update for Gran Turismo 5, version 2.06, has just been launched and is now available for download

The download weighs in at a hefty 475MB in size (that’s nearly half a gigabyte!), leading many to suspect it may contain a bit more than what’s outlined in the official list of changes. With Twin Ring Motegi having already been confirmed as part of the GT Academy 2012 mini-game, fans have good reason to be optimistic.

For now, here’s the official list of changes according to Polyphony Digital:

Updates and New Features

-It is now possible to adjust the race BGM and sound effect volume from “Quick Options” during a race.
-A save data backup feature has been added.
-Compatibility for the sequential shift mode of the Guillemot “TH8 RS” gear shifter has been added.
-A “Performance Difference Adjustment” has been added to the rewards for seasonal events (Applies only to seasonal events held after this update).
-Force feedback for the “Driving Force™GT”, “GT FORCE®Pro”, “G25 Racing Wheel”, ” G27 Racing Wheel”, and ” T500 RS” steering wheel controllers have been improved.
-A car with racing modifications applied are now categorized as a Racing Car (previously Tuned Car).
-The off-track shortcut penalty has been tweaked.
-The GT5 Photo Stream service has just been launched for all players worldwide. To view the latest images taken and shared in the game are now available here.

Bug Fixes

-Fixed a problem where Karts and Ferrari F1 cars could drive together with other cars in the Lounge
-Fixed a rarely occurring issue in which the system freezes when exiting the lounge
-Fixed a problem where you could purchase tires for the 125 SPL racing Kart in the tuning parts shop (Tires purchased previously will now become invalid)
-Fixed a problem in which the straight-line stability of the Lancer Evolution X was decreased when using a steering wheel controller
-Fixed an issue where wrong color dirt and snow tire wheels were displayed on some cars when the wheels were changed
-Fixed delay when launchiing electric cars using controllers other than a steering wheel controller pedal
-Fixed a rarely occurring issue where the system would freeze at the end of a race
-Fixed an issue where it becomes difficult to hear your own car when driving with other racecars in online races, etc.

As of writing, Polyphony Digital has not released any official list of changes, and no obvious changes have yet appeared in the game. Keep an eye on this blog post and GTPlanet’s Gran Turismo 5 forum for more information as its released.

Free DLC Corvette prototype. Pretty cool to have the car on the game before it's even on sale IRL.

Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital formally announced their special collaboration on the next-generation C7 model corvette today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.

First spotted in Gran Turismo 5 by GTPlanet community members earlier this month, the heavily camouflaged prototype will be drivable in the game “today” by downloading the car as free DLC from the PlayStation Store.

According to the press release, Polyphony Digital paid careful attention to every detail in the creases and wrinkles in the soft camouflage, used to disguise the prototype while its driving characteristics are currently being tuned and refined ahead of the vehicle’s official debut in January.

“Until now, only the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorized to push the test prototypes to the limits on some of the most challenging track surfaces in the world,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Global Marketing. “Through this unique collaboration with Gran Turismo, Chevrolet is able, for the first time, to give performance car enthusiasts access to such an exclusive driving experience.”

“Gran Turismo has had many firsts and we’re excited to partner with Chevrolet for yet another – bringing the first-ever Chevrolet prototype vehicle into a racing game,” said Kazunori Yamauchi. “As car enthusiasts, we’re thrilled to give fans this extraordinary level of access to the seventh generation Corvette that otherwise would not be possible.”

Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013. More information on the announcement will be available at One13Thirteen.com.

Just a silly question to chuck into the mix here. What is the closest driving sim to GT that is available on the PC?
