Yeah, I should mention that the other side of the debate with HIIT first thing in the morning, is what Jackal mentioned, the body will use muscle as an energy source. Truth is, I'm not too sure, because HIIT puts the body in an anerobic state rather than aerobic state, and I'm not sure how the body responds without a meal first thing in the morning.

As for what I've read, one shouldn't go past 1 hour because cortisol kicks in, but some people who train for more than that have succeeded. Not sure if they'd get better results in less time *shrugs*

So I've decided to alter my diet for the coming days. (Read: Month if I can sustain it.)

Given my mom's in charge of the kitchen, I've convinced her to make boilt food for me. Tonight will be the last night I get to savour that indian curry and fatty butter-esque naan/roti.

So yeah, what do you guys eat? I'm trying to cut out rice, pasta and bread...so what else can you boil cept for veggies and breast meat? (Don't eat beef.)

Thanks in advance. Let's see if I can keep this up.

My father saw the off-season and competition pics of Lee Priest in this thread.
Out of nowhere I got a talk about steroid abuse. wtf

 Naan is awesome. I'd love to eat that every night.

Just wondering, are you eating enough carbs? Cutting out pasta, bread and rice really cuts down on the carbohydrates, so what do you replace them with? As for boiling, there's eggs... man, can't think right now. All I got are pasta and perogies that come to mind right now  Good luck with the strict diet, it's gonna be tough, but at the same time, don't cut out too much carbs.

Really? Strange. I thought you'd get a talk about homosexuality :cheeky:

Nah. I showed my bro about the pics because he's also into lifting, and my old man butted himself into the conversation.

So...I'm at 14.4% BF.

The thing is...this all just started as an experiment for me. I just wanted to see if my big belly could be turned in to "6 pack abs" and as my BF% goes down and the abs become more & more of a reality...the question running through my head is...

Now what?

 Well shit, I guess I'm going to have something new to fuss about now. Well, we've still got some time...so let me enjoy it till it lasts.

Good job, Jackal. I remember you flaming me because I was into bodybuilding. Now you're posting pics of shirtless men and describing your psychique (I will never learn how to spell that bloody word).

The first week of training is behind me. I only did 4 workouts this week, because I feared that my muscles will swoll, which would keep me out of the gym for a couple of weeks. Anyways, I retained most of my strength, which kind of surprised me. The excercise that suffered the most was pullups, where I didn't have strength to do more than one single rep by the third series. I almoust died of shame. But I noticed a trend with excercises where I lift my own weight - you need a couple of workouts to get back to where you used to be. It was the same situation with pushups. The fact that I still have most of my strength and muscles also means that I will be back in shape faster than I thought. By the time new year rolls around, I'll be stronger and leaner than ever. I'll also try to improve my aerobic and anaerobic conditioning. One thing I've decided is that I'll integrate swimming into my routine. Only one time per week (on wednesday, after the abs workout), but it will be enough for me to rest from weights and give my a full body workout.

My nutrition is not where it needs to be (I had a pizza and fried calamari this week), but I didn't think it will be that easy to break some bad habits I gained this summer.

Well duh VanK, you's the ghey.

Hehe, nah seriously, my bad for all of that man, me & you had bad blood back then. (With whom didn't I?)

Anyways, diet seems to play a bigass role in the look, I mean I thought I ate pretty decent...but you start eating boiled shit and it's as if your body says "thank you god, thank you" while your tongue says "what the fuck did I do to deserve this?"

I'm officially at 74 KG's now...Numbers becoming smaller, I never knew it was this much fun.

Oh, boiling. What do you guys think of grilled food? Becaus I have the same lunch every day - grilled chicken or turkey with rice.

Sat Oct 06, 2007 1:35 am

Same thing I thinks, I vary it between the two.

I have boiled breast meat with spinach and a potatoe one day and the next day I have grilled breast meat with brocoli and potatoe.

Do you use some kind of "oily" substance to grease the pan though? Which you're grilling in I mean? Mine is just plain in the pan and grilled. Black pepper for some taste. The veggies and potatoe are just boiled with nothing added. (No salt ofcourse.)

So one and a half weeks in, and I'm gaining some ground on my fitness. It's been years since I've regularly played basketball, and starting to get fit again made me totally realize how out of shape I am. HIIT is fucking awesome... but I just can't seem to sprint for 30 seconds. More like running for about a minute, then sprinting nontstop for a grand... 15-20 seconds and the routine goes on for a couple more.

On a side note, iPod earphones are absolute shit. I recently bought one for around $35, and something in both earpieces are shaking already, only when I'm running though. Craptacular.

I love grilled food. I have the George Foreman Grill (does a great job of keeping in the lean and getting rid of the fat) and most of my food is done on the Foreman grill. Steak rules.

Jackal wrote:Do you use some kind of "oily" substance to grease the pan though?

The Foreman grill is non-stick, so I never get any kind of sticking. It really minimizes any kind of oil, which is why I use it all the time.

BZ wrote:HIIT is fucking awesome...

Hey, good to hear you tried it out. It's difficult to sprint for 30 seconds, so 15-20 is fine as long as you see progress in your stamina as the weeks go by. Let me know if you notice any changes in the next few weeks (y)

So, I just decided that I am sick of looking in the mirror and seeing my gut. Right now I am at 185 lbs and my goal is to get back down to 170 lbs (what I weighed at graduation) by Christmas. I have access to a small little weight room which has a treadmill, an elliptical, dumbells and a bench. Though I was a 3-sport athlete in high school, I have never really been on any sort of weight program. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Mon Oct 08, 2007 2:41 pm

Steroids for weight gain.
Crack for weight loss.

Wed Oct 10, 2007 4:01 am

Okay, I just re-started my workout program last Sunday, already lost a pound (wow.) I wanna get to 160-165 lbs (I'm at 171 now...yeah, the crash diet thing didn't work) by my birthday. That's January 1st.

Most importantly, these are my goals:

- Bigger and more toned arms.
- Bigger and more toned chest.
- Smaller belly, not necessarily toned. I just don't want the extra fat on the sides.
- Smaller quads and hamstrings (they're actually toned but they're huge.)
- Get to 160-165 lbs and look thin.

On a side note, I just noted something: My left arm is bigger, stronger and more toned than my right arm. How can I solve this?

Jerk off with your right hand from now on.

I would lift more weights with that arm and do workouts for the arms, but would mostly focus on that arm .

Jackal's advice isn't bad either though .

I need to lose the five pounds I got during the summer. I'm not overweight.. it just doesn't feel right.

Er, actually, just keep working out on both arms and don't favor one arm. Gradually, both your arms will be at the same strength.

Used to have the same problem as Joe.

Follow cyanide's advice, it works.

I have the same problem again now, since I stopped "being fit".

Wed Oct 10, 2007 11:26 pm

So yeah, I've been on a "break" for some days. Friday was the last time I went to the gym. Friday night I had way too much to drink, to the point that I was throwing up. Had fried chicken too, I think.

Saturday & Sunday I ate lots of unhealthy oily shit which I shouldn't have eaten. Monday I had more of the same. Tuesday I had lambs meat, pork meat and chicken on the side. With fries.

That's way too many days of unhealthiness, I'm back on my boiled food diet now though, plus gearing up to go to the gym. I feel..disgusting.

The second week of training completely failed. I'm sick as fuck. I hope I'll be back in gym till Wednesday.

What are you guys' opinions on Navy Seals (different variations of pushups, rockys, man-tacos, half-ups), exactly how effective are they?

I'll rate them higher than the Army Rangers but lower than the Delta Force.

Same here, I slacked off this weekend again, I've got to tone down the partying which eventually leads to not eating/drinking healthy.

I'm hitting the gym tomorrow with a new workout routine. Let's see how things go. I've sort of hit a plateau I thinks.
