Just finished Crysis: Warhead and Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway, finishing STALKER: Clear Sky, and getting ready for Far Cry 2 that I preordered, and hopefully 2K9 as early as tuesday (although no store seems to be getting it in my area) and Dead Space. But most of all, Fallout 3 on the 28th...

NBA 2K9
NBA Live 09
Rock Band 2
Star Wars The Force Unleashed

el badman, how is Warhead and Clear Sky? I liked S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but got tired of all that damn walking around and alot of back and forth to maps 3 loading screens away to complete missions.

Pdub, Warhead is amazing. It's shorter than the first one of course (also cheaper), but playing as Psycho is much more interesting. It's still pretty linear, but the pacing is fantastic (reminds me of the Half-Life 2 episodes), and they optimized the engine slightly more, so the DX10 effects look even better without too much of a performance hit. I'd definitely recommend it.

I actually just uninstalled STALKER: CS 5 minutes ago, without finishing it...Mixed feelings about it, but mostly disappointed. I was a huge fan of the first one, and if the running back and forth was annoying to you, Clear Sky does have have some sort of "fast travel" though guides, so you should like that better.
Only problem is, even though they had plenty time to fix the many technical issues from the 1st one, it certainly was not done. Until the 3rd released patch, it was almost unplayable (crashes, lockups, glitches,...). If you play with all the "enhanced DX10" effects, it does look very very good, but the performance is very volatile, and even on my machine, it'd go down to barely 10-12 fps at times. The faction system is much better and there's plenty to do in the game, but there are just too many gameplay and technical issues and it left me absolutely frustrated (even with all great mods that are out there).

Interesting the trend is being used with games too. Same thing with a lot of websites, especially Google products, using the "beta" tag.

NBA 2k9 and Assassin's Creed. I also bought Fallout 3 the other day but it continuously locks up on me, especially using VATS, so that one's going on hold until Bethesda gets off their ass and makes a fix for it. I also dl'ed the 14 day trial of DAOC for the hell of it. I was having some flashbacks of when I used to play it so I had to again for a bit. I'd kinda like to play an MMO again but I don't know which one. I played WoW for a good while, so I'd rather not go back to that one. I'm really debating Warhammer but they still don't have a trial for it.

It's probably not a bad idea. Even if it's not a work in progress (or a work very close to the final intended product) the "beta" label probably encourages users to be more open-minded about it and more forgiving of small problems and features that could stand to be improved.

I recently started playing the Orange Box again - namely Half Life 2. I only made it halfway through and just stopped playing out lack of interest. Picked it up yesterday and it just clicked, and I've logged about 8 hours since.

Additionally, I am starting a 2K9 association, which I am enjoying. Also, I reactivated my Gamefly account, and will be receiving Fallout 3 and Midnight Club LA.

For those who have not tried it already, I'd highly recommend Fallout 3.
Obviously, you should enjoy it more if you were a fan of TES4: Oblivion, as it is similar in many many ways. I was a little underwhelmed at first because it's based on the same engine, and it definitely shows that it's aging, it 's not the level of eye candy that other recent games offer.
But this is quickly forgotten, this game is one of the most addictive gaming experiences I have ever had. Brilliant stuff (Y)

What about them bugs of Fallout 3?

Tue Nov 11, 2008 5:00 am

Nah, just the usual whining from people who can't optimize their machine, or just don't want to accept the Securom copy protection kind of shit.

Well, it does have a few issues, I'm getting a lockup every 2-3 hours maybe, but nothing major. With a game of that scope, it's inevitable. BethSoft is already working on a new patch that should fix some of them. Plus, like for Oblivion, the community is hard at work and is releasing more and more mods to fix any remaining problem.
Overall, it's a fairly bug free experience compared to some of the most recent games, and it's a must have for any RPG fan.

Is it all arcade or does it have some SIM aspects mixed with it?

My brother got Spore and installed it just last night. With all that I saw from the Maxis logo intro to the create-a-creature mode all I can say is "FUCK."

Never played it yet, but it looks pretty damn amazing.

it's pretty much what Midway wanted to do with NFL Blitz back in the day, but had their hands tied with the NFL License. Now with a Fictional League that mimics the NFL pretty well, they can pretty much do what they want. THink of the ESPN show Playmakers in video game form. Replayability factor is high because you can just keep making custom teams in the main "campaign" mode and use them online against other people.

Been going to my former roommate's player everyday to play Gears of War 2. Initially I was skeptic about that game, but after playing I totally fell in love with it. Might rent like GOW1 and play through it on his 360 just to get the full story. But I was pretty much glued to his HDTV and 360 because the action was intense and storyline pretty immersing as well. GOW3 is going to be epic.
