Rather entertaining match.

Image

This match was oh so sweet. So many ups and downs, When Adriano had his hat trick in a 6 minute span late in the game my heart almost stopped. All I was thinking was defend the 1 goal advantage I had then Baptista scored and I all but gave up. All the momentum was in their favor and I was at a loss.

Luckily we lasted out til extra time and to my surprise we added 3. I woulda been happy with 1 but 3 was way better than I could ever imagine. Walcott scored a bomber from way out to put us in the lead and it sent the away fans in a frenzy. Falcao tore them up after having a rough first 90 minutes, not surprised he was the one to really seal it with the two goals that sunk Chelsea.

Time to watch some World Cup!!!

Thu Dec 14, 2006 8:43 pm

haha awesome game, I thought you were playing a game with Chelski, but I take it you switched to Man U..

How is Van der Vaart in this years game?

Fri Dec 15, 2006 3:07 am

Only up to 2010? You noob.

I'm up to October 2011 :P .

Barcelona has 3 peated the 1st Division. I (Real Madrid) haven't won it since 2008. Robinho won both Footballer and Player of the year in 2010 8-) .

Spain won the world cup IIRC. I think they beat Brazil lol.

I got signing of the season for the 10/11 season. His name is Toth Gergely, bought him from Osasuna for 170k, 21 years old and the next Jesus. 8-) .

My team has changed quite a bit lol, a lot of people would hate me for the players I've sold lol.

My team:

Iker Casillas GK
Leo Franco GK
Petri Pasenen DRC
Gonzalo Pineda DLC, DM
Joleon Lescott DC
Ivan Soto DC
Robbe Van Ruyskensvelde DC (I got him free transfered off Osasuna, I love ripping them off lol, so far 7.30 average cos Soto's injury)
Marcelo D/WB/M L (Perfect Roberto Carlos replacement (btw, I signed Roberto Carlos and Michael Salgado as coaches)
David Beckham (he's 36, SHOULD be retiring, he had a pretty awesome season as my leading scorer when he was 34 lol)
Silva MRC (Italian, quite awesome but he wants to leave, and I do have too many promising midfielders)
Tim Borowski MLC (I paid 28.5M for him lmao but he's been good)
Christian Benevante AMRC (he becomes a Peru international at 16!)
Antonio Valencia AMRC
Toth Gergely AMC (he has a picture so he must be a real player lol)
Gregory Rondeux AMC ( i couldnt resist free transfer lol)
Alberto Bueno AM/FC (solid player but got some crucial ligament injury 18 months before and has made an okay recovery)
Raul AM/FC (i want him to retire a Realian)
Robinho FC (God)
Tevfik Kose ST (I got him free transfer from some turkey team and he has 20 finishing heading and throw ins lol)
Ruud Van Nistelrooy ST (35 years old, hopefully be retiring).
Da Mota DM (I have him reserves because he is FGN but Marcelo recently went Spanish so now i can make him play in the firsts [even though he can already being registered for reserves)
Lionel Franck MR, FC (he had bad finishing and good Corners so i taught him MR)
Roberto Saldado ST (solid but i want to get rid of him)
Ronaldo ST (I moved him to the reserves team and decided to retire but he had 2 years left on his contract and he got injured for 5 months so go figure)

I need to get rid of some of my mids and get a striker to compliment Robinho's uberness.

Players bought/sold throughout the years: (prices in Pounds, although I use AUD)

06/07:
Sasha Iakovenko for 200k to R. Madrid
Rossato for 2.2M to R. Madrid
Salomon Kalou for 9.5M to R. Madrid
Antonio Cassano for 11.25M to Chelsea
Cicinho to Roma for 5M
Raul Bravo to Espanyol for 1.5M

07/08
Antonio Lopez for 3M to R. Madrid (from villareal)
Tevfik Kose for Free
Tim Borowski for 28.5M to R. Madrid
Gabriel Paletta for 5.5M to R. Madrid
Petri Pasenen for 7.5M to R. Madrid (yeah i thought i was short of Defenders and i was probably right lol)
Johnathon Woodgate to Milan for 3.7M
Julio Baptista to Sevilla for 14.5M (then they sold him like a year later to some italian team then ended up in Sampdoria)
I also sold antonio lopez half way through season to Juventus for 4.5M

08/09
Jesus Navas for 10.25M from Sevilla
Da Mota from Sampdoria for 3.3M
Silva from Flamengo for 1.4M
Royston Drenthe for 10M from Feyenoord
Emerson to Milan for 4.5M, go figure.

09/10
Raffaele Palladino from Juventus for 9.5M
Gonzalo Pineda for 28M from West Ham
Lucas Moreira from Guarani for 1.2M (he's the same as Silva, young and promising but i gotta get rid of (N) )
Marcelo from Schalke for 17.25M
Royston Drenthe to FC Bayern for 6.25M
Mahamadou Diarra to Sampdoria for 15M
Gabriel Paletta to Juventus for 10M

10/11
Toth Gergely from Osasuna for 170K
Aythami for 14M from Villareal (why? baffles me to this day)
Joleon Lescott for 8M from Everton
Ivan Soto for 29M from Arsenal (I offered 14.5 and accepted and it ended up paying double :? glitched)
Jesus Navas to Inter for 11.25m
Ruben De La Rad for 2.4M to Benfica
Rossato to Mantova for 80K

11/12 (so far)
Sasha Iakovenko to Newcastle for 8.25M (its a bitch because Marcelo is citzen now, same thing with Kalou)
Salomon Kalou to Milan for 10.25M
Sergio Ramos to Valencia for 13.25M (he asked to be transfered :( )

I've probably been the worst thing to happen to Real Madrid ever but what ever. They're honoured to have a legendary manager like me :proud: .

And for everyone who doesn't play as Chelsea, does David Villa ALWAYS get signed by Chelsea? happens to me.

And what was the point of this post, um just to say that I'm up to 11/12 season and I've played 15 minutes short of 8 days worth of gameplay :proud: . and I manage to have a girlfriend lol.

Fri Dec 15, 2006 10:24 am

I dont know about Villa alays being signed but I know Adriano always is.

@ Mark
-Van der Vaart is awesome for me right now. He fits well into my rotation system and whenever both he and Ronaldo are on the pitch (when I play wing formations) they tend to tears wingbacks apart.

Whenever I play a formation with focused passing down the middle I prefer Kaka but he is still class as AM, its just that Kaka plays it better.

edit: Brazil won the World Cup. Exciting considering both the goals were set up by my Left wingback Marcelo. I think Rafinha and Kaka are also on the team. I'm really happy England didnt win again. For some reason Brazil were ranked 10th in the wold so I was really rooting for them.

Guess who they beat? Colombia. :)
That team is led by my new favorite striker Falcao and my other beloved midfielder Cardenas. It was the perfect final, the one I honestly was hoping for.

Sun Mar 11, 2007 6:47 pm

I just picked up FM 2007 for the 360. Got it brand new for $50AU, which was a bargain, let alone the further discount I got it for trading in a couple of old games.

It's really addictive so far. Just been messing around with a second division team in Sweden called Sunnana. Just trying to get the hang of tactics and signings, familiarising myself with the game. Went into the game without a job, this was the best I was offered.

Had a 7 game win streak in my first season - but once I brought in a couple of new players we went on a 6 game slide. Ended up just escaping relegation.

Lost a few players over the offseason, but I picked up a couple of decent 17-20yr old players, plus a couple of decent strikers (decent for the league I mean) around 28-30. Got a couple more transactions lined up for the next transfer window.

My current formation is 4-2-1-2-1, which is working really well and playing to my teams strengths. Won 3 of my 5 preseason warm ups, drew 1 and lost the other in the 87th minute. Pretty satisfied. Then I played an 'exhibition' friendly against reining Swedish Premier Division champs AIK. Lost 2-0, but played well. Both there goals were incredible, one being hit on the break from 30ft.

Started the season reasonably well, once I get these new players I'm going to move to a 4-1-2-2-1 formation. The defence is very solid, only conceding 2 goals in 5 games, but I need a tad more firepower. Might have to go the counter attack a bit more.

Anyway, fairly addicted so far. Never been a massive soccer fan, but this game is getting me very interested and quickly.

On a side note, anybody opposed to the idea of changing the thread title to either 2007 exclusively, or both 2006/2007?

What about "Post your Football Manager game" without year?

Sounds good.

Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:36 pm

Yay!! this thread is active again, ive been trying to the end of my second season with Arsenal to post a recap of my two years with them.

Taking a second division team as you first is pretty tough, but it sounds like you are doing pretty well Ty. I added you to my MSN list, I have some Tactics that you may be interested in trying that I can hook you up with when I see you online (Y)

Awesome. Would very much appreciate that. I'll make sure I actually long into MSN more frequently then.

I'm hoping this thread gets active again, seeing as I have finally come on board. :P

Tue Mar 13, 2007 2:43 am

I'm trying to get Municipal Iquique to win Chile's First Division. The only thing I can say is that it'll took me a couple years, probably :P

Tue Mar 13, 2007 4:07 pm

I'm considering starting again with a new team, probably English. Not sure who though, but probably a First Division team trying to get them promoted, then make them competitive.

But for now, I will keep going with Sunnana. Got a new striker who has been very good in 3 games, but has been injured of late. No fun. My defence is fairly strong, but struggling to get goals on the board.

Going to mess around with training a bit, maybe go to a more conventional formation, maybe a 4-3-3.

Mon Mar 26, 2007 3:21 pm

Being without the computer and having to rely on TV for sports news, I've started paying alot more attention to the A-League so I started a game with the Queensland Roar. I was going to go with Adelaide or Melbourne but I figured that would be a little bit too easy. It's a bit challenging in the A-League, the salary cap makes life hard and also the fact that you can only have a squad of 20 with no reserves, if I have injury problems (like I have all season) you're pretty much screwed because there are only so many guys you can have in a team.

2006 Queensland Roar (overall rating out of 10)

GK- Tom Willis (8/10)
DL: Remo Buess (7/10)
DR: Spase Dilevski (5/10)
DC Josh McCloughan (5/10)
DC: Sasa Ognenovski (7/10)
MR: Andrew Packer (6/10)
ML: Matthew McKay (7/10)
MC: Danny Sonner (7/10)
MC: Marcus Wedau (8/10):
FC: Reinaldo Mineiro (6/10)
FC: Glauver Aranha (8/10)

S1: Liam Reddy (GK)
S2: Chad Gibson (DC)
S3: Dario Vidosic (AMC)
S4: Ante Milicic (SC)

R1: Massimo Murdocca (AMR)
R2: Simon Lynch (SC)
R3: Stuart McLaren (DC)

Players In:

Glauver Aranha - 10k
Jon Bowman - Free
Danny Sonner - Free

Aranha I found by mistake just browsing through the massive list of players in the player search, he's turnt out pretty awesome so far though and is my #1 striker. Bowman was a 17 year old who I released for being garbage, plus I have another guy coming in to replace him and Danny Sonner was a product of my partnership with Port Vale in the UK. Teams were making bids for him so I matched the bid and signed him, he's one of the best midfielders in the A-League but is getting on in years.

Players Out:

Steve Fitzsimmons - Free
Ben Griffin - Free
Seo Hyuk-Su - Free
Jon Bowman - Free
Zhang Yuning - Free

Future Transfers In

Matthew Christiansen - Bristol City - Free

I offered 1k for him, then they came back and said they wanted 0 for him lol. He's a 20 year old Australian who was amazing in the Chamspionship Manager series back in the day.

Carlos Ruiz - Arsenal de Sarandi - 5k

Getting a bit old but my central defenders aren't much good and this guy looks great. Will be useful for the next two seasons, though when he and Sonner retire (which will be at around the same time) I'm not sure what I'll do.

After 9 games we're sitting 5th out of 8 teams on 11 points, just 3 points behind the top three teams in Central Coast (who we beat 3-0 in the Australian Cup), Adelaide United and New Zealand Knights (we just beat them 2-0). We could make the top 4, we're the second highest scoring team in the league but also the second worst defensive team. The good news is we're turning in a profit all the time, since I took over we've made a profit of 3.7 million, which gives us a balance of 4.3 million. I can't check other teams finances but we would definitely be in the top 3 earning teams.

Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:06 pm

Very nice. I was thinking of doing an A-League team, but I'm more interested of doing a lower league management thing at this stage, or working towards doing a Div 1 English team and trying to get them promoted.

With my Swedish Div 2 North Team Sunnana, I've finished another season and just escaped relegation. I was miles ahead of the teams that were relegated and only a few points behind the major players in the division. So not as bad as it sounds.

In the offseason I transferred 2 players out for big money. One DC called Flingmark really began to develop, so I got $90K AU for him, and another defender I got $12K. This really upped my transfer budget (understatement as it was zero) and I got a few young decent players. The best being a solid DL, a wicked FC and a decent GK. Played 4 pre-season friendlies so far winning them all convincingly. Won the first 5-2, the 2nd 1-0, 3rd 6-1, 4th 4-0. Think I've developed a rather strong tactic and my squad is meshing well. The goal is to get top 3 in the division. Should be possible this year!

Tue Mar 27, 2007 12:39 am

In an extremely evenly matched game, the Queensland Roar having finished dead last in the A-League and losing 7 players in the off season were invited to have a friendly against Spanish league champions and Champions League quarter finalists Barcelona  we lost 5-0.

Edit: For some bizarre reason Chelsea are now our parent club. God knows what they'd want from anyone at this team.

Fri Aug 24, 2007 6:01 pm

Let this thread live! I just started a new game with Fulham, going to try and build up my finances as much as humanly possible over the next 5 seasons then go and buy anyone and everyone I want. That's the plan anyway.

Sat Aug 25, 2007 8:06 am

Haven't played FM in a while. I think I'll wait for 08 to come out and start again.

Sat Aug 25, 2007 2:52 pm

Just a little bit rusty...

1 win, 5 draws, 13 losses

I'm selling the entire team. Fuck it, they all suck.

Sun Aug 26, 2007 7:22 am

So what if they suck. Why sell, what happened to your master plan?

Mon Aug 27, 2007 1:13 pm

lolol @ Jae :D

That 7.02 (or w/e) update really screwed me over with the game. None of my tactics worked and it was like I had to learn the game all over again. Now I'm having a ball of a time after weeks of frustration. I had an updated Man Utd game running but I kinda got tired of the Prem so I ventured back down to Brazil with Sao Paulo. Wanted to relive those moments I had in the past and its been reeeeally great so far. :)

Ditto. Really looking to getting 08. Hoping it comes out just after my exams are done, so then I can waste the start of my summer playing.

Wed Aug 29, 2007 11:52 am

I came up with a cool idea, got the hang of tactics and shit now so no more losing.

I picked Roda in the Dutch league (no player restrictions or work permits) and deleted every player from that team, also all the staff, gave them 95 million to spend and a high wage budget. The reputation of the club isn't that high but it's high enough to get decent players (no superstars) and the money is enough to build a team, some reserves and a youth squad. I'll post the full line-up when I'm done.

Wed Aug 29, 2007 3:19 pm

Pretty much finished building the first team, there's no huge name guys in there but alot of talent. Here's the full roster:

GK's
Roman Weidenfeller
Enaut Zubikarai

Defenders
Gustavo Cabral
Pablo Alvarado
Jonathan Bottinelli
Carlos Baez
Edcarlos
Arnold Kruiswijk
Miguel Veloso
Richarlyson

Midfielders
Stijn Schaars
Rene Lima
Emmanuel Sarki
Renato Augusto
Augusto Fernandez
Leandro
Franco Cangele
Miralem Sulejmani
Matias Campos

Strikers
Salvatore Foti
Vratislav Lokvenc
Marco Ruben
Rodrigo Palacio

I played a friendly against my Under 19's just to test a tactic, it went well

Roda JC 17
Marco Ruben (2, 6, 8, 24, 34, 52, 56, 77)
Vratislav Lokvenc (12)
Carlos Baez (20)
Leandro (44, 61, 66, 67, 83)
Miralem Sulejmani (48)
Rene Lima (86)

Roda JC U/19's 0

And that was without Palacio, who is better than Ruben. I have a selection headache now though, the guys who replaced Richarlyson and Baez at half time did equally as good, Rene Lima scored a goal off the bench as did Sulejmani (who also had 2 assists and is only 17) but the biggest worry is Augusto Fernandez had 2 assists and a 10 rating at half time playing ML, his replacement Franco Cangele had 4 assists and a 10 rating in the second half. God knows what I'll do, I've set up a harder match with Bolton so that will give me a better idea.

Man, this team owns...

Roda JC 3
Rodrigo Palacio (30)
Augusto Fernandez (49)
Rene Lima (84)

AZ 1
Simon Cziommer (31)

Roda JC 3
Stijn Schaars (19)
Rodrigo Palacio (45)
Salvatore Foti (pen 90)

Ajax 1
Daniel Carvalho (34)

Sat Sep 01, 2007 5:38 pm

God I love this game.

I had made a new away tactic since I had 4 away games in a row, I was struggling a bit... either just scraping a win or coming up with a draw against teams I should have beaten, Rodrigo Palacio was also struggling which confused me. Then I had my eureka moment. I checked the tactics, and I had set it so that Palacio would never run with the ball, was moderately attacking and held the ball up... essentially playing like Mark Viduka or Alan Smith. Then I checked his attributes, he actually has 17 for dribbling, plus 20 for pace and acceleration... so I changed my settings.

Original settings:
Attack: Normal
Run With Ball: Never
Long Shots: Never
Hold Up Ball: Yes

Three games, 1 win, 2 draws, 2 goals from Palacio

New Settings:
Attack: All Out
Run With Ball: Always
Long Shots: Normal
Hold Up Ball: No

Two games, 2 wins, 5 goals from Palacio. No one can stop him, it's great.

Sun Sep 02, 2007 3:31 pm

Good to see your enjoying it again Jae, I found 7.02 made it a lot harder but now that ive got my tactics sorted its going a lot better although I have been using Barca.

Palacio is a player Ive been wanting to get but it will cost me far too much to get him of chelsea.

How is Augusto going for you? He was great for me in my Arsenal game before the patch, and ive got him as a back up for Barca.

Sun Sep 02, 2007 4:10 pm

Renato Augusto or Augusto Fernandez?

Fernandez has been pretty good, Renato Augusto not so great but he's only 18. The players I've been most impressed with are Gustavo Cabral who only cost 2.5 million and is probably the best defender on the team, Salvatore Foti who is going to end up an absolute beast and Rene Lima who was only just over a million and is a bit of a goal scorer from wingback.
