This'll be interesting :) I'll be taking a Human Sexuality and Christian Marriage course next year

Fri Apr 15, 2005 8:07 am

What are you studying? :?:

Fri Apr 15, 2005 3:30 pm

before we go on into the marriage topic.......lets all focus first to the thing that marriage revolves around with........no we dont go into marriage because of sex, lust, longing, pleasure or just to have someone clean up our house........we go into marriage because of this.......

Corinthians 13:4-7 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not selfseeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

if all marriage couples have learned this from the very beggining before tying the knot....then we wont be arguing/debating about divorce laws worldwide now dont we?

lol, i just took that last semester. pretty easy since my teacher was a priest who just came back from a 10 year hiatus from teaching. got a B i think. all he was teaching were all the simple stuff like what the church's view on homsexuality and the different rules in marrying etc. all the other classes were memorizing canon laws and shit while i didn't even know what they were

1 corinthians 7:1-4
Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

as we can read here....the responsibilities of a man and woman.....once they are married......its a unique union of sharing and love (Y)

That's actually an option course I'm interested in taking. I'm studying in Visual Communications in the Bachelor of Design program. So basically, graphic design.

I didn't expect it to be difficult either  but I don't like to memorize stuff. I hope we dont' have to memorize passages from the bible, or like you said, memorize canon laws. I hope the course is more theory, where I like to explore different points of views with an open mind.

On the marriage topic, I heard that the 2 biggest reasons for divorce are (in order):

1. COMMUNICATION

2. MONEY

I'm not 100% positive about this, but it makes sense to me.

Oh, yeah, and here's #3:

3. FARTING AT THE DINNER TABLE- in public
(just kidding  :D )

Thu Apr 21, 2005 10:28 am

4- MOTHER IN-LAW

Thu Apr 21, 2005 10:41 am

5-men 8-)

anyways lets get a little deeper into the marriage topic...

to avoid the dreaded divorce heres a faithful requirement for the husband.......
ECCLESIASTES 9:9
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that [is] thy portion in [this] life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.

more to come tomorrow...for the wifey part too...

and to cyanide.......memorizing verses aint that bad..........i can memorized certain verses about 500 of em which are useful in life.........and there is someone i know in our country who is a walking bible.........ask him anything about the bible and he will answer it straight faced.....by verses........without even holding a bible...he will say the verse number and ask you to read it allowed.........suprisingly it answers your questions.........i consider this a gift and a product of countless nights loveing the words of GOD.......i can never achieve that status but as long as i keep notes i can atleast be productive in my simple way (Y)

it's ok actually. at least for my class. all i really had to remember was what makes a sin a grave one (or a mortal sin). it was pretty easy for me. coz it was kinda interesting to know what the church's stand on certain topics. like homosexuality, it's ok to be gay since you can't choose to not be gay. but you can't have sex with the same gender since you chose to do it.

matthew 19:4
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,
19:5
And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
19:6
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
19:7
They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
19:8
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
19:9
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

Here we can read that Jesus firmly disagrees divorce.....he even stated that man and woman are created to be together.....may be to give us a sense of purpose in life.....the big question there by the pharisees is why did the law of moses allowed divorce if God said that "whatever God had joined together, let no man assunder"
and this is the great part Jesus owned them.....hehehe by saying "Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so"

after Jesus stated the conditions for a possible divorce the pharisees were amazed at His knowledge........here are the only conditions that allows divorce. note this came form the bible.....not form the laws of man.....yes the bible allows divorce but from this only..

1corinthians 7:39
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
matthew 19:9
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

if your behalf is dead......God allows you to remarry..
if your behalf commited adultery/fornication or marries another, God allows you to remarry too.....

this is just showing that God is a justful God....He knows when you are widowed, you might get lonely, so he allows poeple to reamrry, but you must not kill your behalf......since killing poeple is not allowed

next if your behalf has left you for some one else or is commiting fornication, God allows you to seek your own happiness too.....you can file a divorce then remarry and find that special someone for you.... :P

next time: what are the requirements in marriage...who can marry? what age and what is needed to make the marriage authenthic not null or void.....stay tuned......

any reactions are welcome (Y)

Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:55 pm

Are you married, COOLmac? If not it looks like you'll be in good shape for when/if it happens.

This is all good advice on marriage, for all people. (Y)

One thing that cannot be denied is that the Bible is a book full of wisdom (Y)
