I've started playing my Juventus game again, it's almost 2012 and we've just flogged my old team Strasbourg 4-0 away from home in the CL (Y)

I replaced Ben Arfa with Mark Gonzalez, I bought him then saw in here someone had recommended him aswell so I figured it'd work out. He's done well so far, 5 goals and 6 assists in 11 games whereas Ben Arfa had 6 goals and 11 assists in 19 games for me last season. In 11 games for Roma he's got 0 goals and 2 assists, nice way to throw away nearly 40 million.

For the first time in a long while I've got a kick ass junior structure going, not so much 15-16 year olds but guys aged between 17-20 in the reserves that could easily play regularly for my first team...in particular, one guy named Michelle Di Palma. He was a "grey" player... one of those faded out guys you get if you don't have enough players in the reserves or under 18's. I signed him since he lookd ok, and after one season his attributes exploded...

Click

Here's a few other players from the reserves (who have spent all season touring the World playing friendlies since there is no reserves league for them to play in).

(ignore the picture quality, I reduced it so it didn't take months to load/upload)

Bart Gregoire - GK

Vincenzo Salvi - DRLC
Raul Sanchez Sanchez - DR
Benoit Nyikeine - DL

Sergio Cordero - DMC
Alessandro Ferrari

Marco Cecchini - MC
Giovanni Bressan
Vincente Munoz Gonzalez
Alberto Taddei
Pablo Vega
Sergio Ranieri

Juan Carlos Bayon
Federico Pastorello

Taddei, Pastorello, Ferrari, Bressan and Cecchini were "grey" players. I don't use a cheat training schedule but it's surprising at how many decent players you can find if you have grey players. Some are definitely worth signing just incase they turn into something decent.

Sweet, you got my boy Mark Gonzalez!
Just wondering what his ratings are that far into the game?

Sun Sep 10, 2006 10:09 pm

Crap Jae, your reserve team is awesome. I really like that Ferrari guy.

Mark Gonzalez, November 2011

Yeah they're not bad, Ferrari made his debut in the first team against Strasbourg and had a 9 rating, he looks decent.

I think next year I'll choose only fairly big clubs since I didn't think they'd accept (but for some reason they did).

Mon Sep 11, 2006 2:24 pm

Thanks for the screen Jae, he looks killer.

Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:16 pm

Nice, your reserves didnt do too bad against those bigger clubs.

Are you still using that same formation?

Fri Sep 22, 2006 5:07 am

Yeah I haven't changed it, so far so good, still coming 1st by a fair bit and in the CL semi finals against Bayern.

I just got offered a new contract, which included a transfer budget of 133 million

Holy fuckshit. I wish I got an offer like that. Make sure you tell us who you buy. Just got off work at the hospital and I think I brush the dust off FM a bit after I check the usual sports sites.

Sat Sep 23, 2006 3:17 pm

Good idea, we should get the thread back on the road 8-)

After being knocked out of the CL by Bayern, and having them go on to win it for a 2nd time in a row I figured I'd use the money to buy some superstars that'll hopefully give me an edge of some sort. I also sold Salomon Kalou to Lazio for 39 million, which is cool because he had 11 less goals and only 7 more assists compared to last season, plus Rafinha was pretty awesome in that position when given a chance. So my transfer budget is around 180 million now and I've made some signings:

Gerardo Ortiz 5.75 million

Sergio Ramos 8.5 million

Julio Baptista 15 million

Roger 34.5 million

More to come.

Sun Sep 24, 2006 3:55 am

Get the fuck outta here, that Roger guy has amazing technical attributes  (Y)

Sun Sep 24, 2006 4:39 am

Yeah he looks great, hasn't been too good in pre-season friendlies but hopefully he'll pick it up.

My transfer budget was boosted to 150 million after those signings, and I decided this would be my last season with Juventus so I went mental and spent all of it and more. The plan is to win the Champions League, since I haven't done that yet and Bayern have done it twice in a row so I need to strengthen everywhere. We would've beaten them last season if it wasn't for injuries and a lack of quality back-up players.

Note: I overpaid for some guys but it doesn't matter, if the club goes into debt I won't be around to suffer it

Jose Maria Gonzalez Garcia - 9.25 million

Patrice Evra - 17.5 million

Mattia Longoni - 18 million

Michael Essien - 22.5 million

Raffaele Palladino - 27 million

Javier Mascherano - 37.5 million

Fernando Torres- 60 million

All up I spent 255 million, if I don't win the Champions League after this I'll quit the game all together lol... I think after this season I'll take a job with a lower league shit side and build it up, it'll be more fun watching Juve from the sidelines than actually controlling the team.

I also now have alot of depth...

GK: Gianluigi Buffon | Gerardo Ortiz

DC: Ze Castro | Fabio Ripamonti
DC: Vagner Leonardelli | Jose Marcia Gonzalez Garcia
DC: Michael Essien | Sergio Ramos

WBR: Rafinha | Wesley Winter
WBL: Jeremy Matthieu | Patrice Evra

DMC: Javier Mascherano | Alessandro Ferrari
MC: Rocha | Mattia Longoni

AML: Raffaele Palladino | Mark Gonzalez
AMR: Zlatan Ibrahimovic | Julio Baptista

SC: Fernando Torres | Roger

So basically if I split the sides in two, they'd probably finish #1 and #2 on the ladder which is quite cool. Alot of them can play different positions too

Wesley Winter: WBRL, AMRL
Sergio Ramos: DC, WBR
Patrice Evra: DC, WBL, AML
Jeremy Matthieu: WBL, DM, MLC
Michael Essien: DM, MRC
Rafinha: DC, WBR, AMR
Raffaele Palladino: AML, SC
Julio Baptista: DMC, AMR, SC
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: AMR, SC

Roger looks to be real good, I bought Sergio Ramos in PES ages ago when I read that hes good and he really plays well down the right. Hope he can provide you with what you need in FM

Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:31 am

I've always had the feeling that before you buy Mascherano you have to give serious thought to purchasing Freddy Guarin. I have the guy and I must say he has been exceptional for me. Wasnt all that pricey either. A guy I couldnt get was Danielle De Rossi but doesnt matter now since Guarin has been so good.

Its also funny you have Julio Baptista since I'm currently trying to sell him to sponsor a bid for Anderson from Real Madrid. They want 20.5 million so I have to build that up them try to negotiate to around 18 mil. It sucks since I had him all but wrapped up in the summer for like 14 million or less. I offered Daniel Carvalho for him but they wouldnt accept. I have grown tired of him and since I am beginning to like Anderson in real life I want to add him to my FM team.

If you dont win the Champions League you shouldnt quit. Jus keep playing til 07 comes out. Thats my plan.

EDIT: Why exactly is everyone acting like its the first time they have heard about Roger? He has been mentioned more than once so I dont understand why your surprised his stats are great. Ah wellnot my fault yall dont pay attention in here.

Anyways, heres Guarins stats.

Yeah Guarin's been an FM legend since FM05, which is kinda why I didn't buy him since I didn't want to be picking up guys I'd already used alot before. I've never had Torres, Masherano, Palladino or Baptista in any form of FM so it's interesting to try them out.

That being said, I just got beaten 2-0 by Inter in the Italian Super Cup thing

Mon Sep 25, 2006 2:52 am

Julio Baptista is fucking God.

Julio Baptista is currently surplus to requirements on my team. I got guys 20 years old who are way better than him. I might ship him off (29 yrs old) some time soon to get a nice profit. He was great last year but Cardenas has basically cut him out of all playing time.

Mon Sep 25, 2006 10:31 am

Yeah since im only in the first year of my Real Madrid one Baptista is an animal, he plays behind the striker in your Sao Paolo tactic Dada and is my leading scorer

You gave up on my tac yet?

He's still kinda ok you know but I can get better for what he is worth considering there wont be much improvement once he touches 30. Dejan Stankovic is also old but man oh man his stats still look great. The only old guy I've actually kept in a while. May make him retire as an Inter player. As well as Ricardo Carvalho who has won Defender of the year 2 years running. I wanna get rid of Walter Samuel but its useless because hes barely worth anything so I'll just make his contract run out.

Tue Sep 26, 2006 9:22 pm

Nah your tactic is working awesome, seems to be even better in the second season where im averaging 4.5 goals per match and conceeding 0.6, the 4.5 is slightly misleading since I had a 8-0 win preceeded by a 5-2 win, but from then on ive been getting 5 then 3 then 4 then 3 and so on. Also ive found if you have a Beckham type player they will strive in that midfield position that comes back to a DMC area, so far this season he has 7 goals ( at least half a free kicks though) and 5 assists I think.

Excellent, makes me feel allwarm and fuzzy to know it works for someone else.

I'm tearing the Serie A to pieces with this team, these are my results thus far...

3-1 vs Catania
5-0 vs Inter
6-0 vs Roma
4-0 vs Crvenz Zvezda CL
2-0 vs Cagilari
4-1 vs Messina
2-0 vs Ascoli
2-0 vs Genk CL

The new guys are playing well...

Patrice Evra: 8 games, 8.13 avg
Javier Mascherano: 10 games, 7.80 avg
Julio Baptista: 6 games, 2 goals, 7.67 avg
Mattia Longoni: 7 games, 2 goals, 7.57 avg
Jose Maria Gonzalez Garcia: 8 games, 1 goal, 7.50 avg
Fernando Torres: 5 games, 4 goals, 7.40 avg

Roger, Ramos and Palladino aren't playing so great. The biggest shock though has been Ibrahimovic... last season he had 54 goals in 46 games, this season he has 17 goals in 7 matches

Sun Oct 22, 2006 7:57 pm

You gonna get rid of the 2006 in the thread title so people can post their 2007 games  ?

Currently, I'm ripping it up with Real Madrid. Big woop I guess  . David Beckham has been my most in form player. Robinho is my leading goal scorer. Roberto Carlos has been nuts as well. Him and Beckham score a shitload of goals from 25+ yards free kicks. Roberto hit 2 in 1 match once. It's great to watch the dots do that. I'd post more in depth stuff but I'm loving the game so much.

Last year, before Chelsea's bidding banaza, i pre-meditated Jose and bought Ballack, and then, incrediably, Peter Chec got a fatal head injury and was out for the season. OMG!! Anyone got any requests for thier fav. team that the real-life team can emulate??

Tue Nov 21, 2006 1:14 pm

I love this game so fucking much. I'm using Real Madrid and I'm currently in April of 2009. My best season was 2007/08. I won the First Division with 90 points, Barcelona had 90 points but I had the better goal differnce. I also won the Spanish Cup and lost in the Semi Finals to Chelsea in ECC.

I'd tell you my team and stuff but I'm at school. My major selling was Julio Baptista to Sevilla but then Sevilla sold him lol. My major buying was Tim Borowski from Weder Bremen for around 70mil lol yeah overpaid but the guy's pretty good. Roberto Carlos just retired and I signed him as a coach lol. Fabio Cannavaro is retiring as well but he doesn't want a coaching contract which is okay.

Some "steals" I found include Sasha Iakovenko, Roberto Soldado, Tefvlik Kose, R. Drenthe (cant remember first name), Gabriel Paletta, Alberto Bueno, Lionel Franck and some other dudes. If i get bored tonight i'll probably give more details.

Picked up this game again yesterday. Its summer of 2009 in my Chelsea game and I'm seriously considering making a switch to Italian football. What do yall think?

I might as well finish the Chelsea contract since I have never finished one out in all my playing years in the game.
