Weird coincidence. Speaking of Ken Anderson/Kennedy, he's been pretty critical of the Wellness policy in the past. I wonder if he'll change his tune now that one of his close friends in the industry (from what I've read) has passed away, possibly due to complications stemming from his past substance abuse.

watching the UFC thing on tonight and they just did an interview with Hulk Hogan, and he just announced that he will start on TNA on January 4th, which is a Monday, and that they are going to directly compete with the WWE and Raw

Re: WWE Thread

Sun Dec 06, 2009 2:54 pm

Bold move, especially when they're only just beating ECW and Superstars in the ratings. I also read that Hulk Hogan is not a fan of the six sided ring and one of his plans is to change it back to a traditional four sided ring. I'd be for that, the six sided ring was a novel concept and it doesn't hurt to try something new but at the same time it's always struck me as being kind of gimmicky.

I'm hoping Hogan will bring some level of professionalism (I know) to TNA... it comes across as such an amateur production to me, I can barely watch it. They get old ECW sized crowds and that ring is garbage.

Re: WWE Thread

If the dirt sheets and tell-all books are anything to go by, Hogan's not one for doing the right thing for business as a performer but I reckon he knows what it takes to be successful from being around it in the 80s and 90s. If nothing else, the guy knows how to create buzz. I wholeheartedly agree about bringing a level of professionalism to TNA though, for all its talented workers it comes off as being second rate and minor league, live programming and better production values (as much as they can do with their budget) would go a long way in changing that. Getting rid of Vince Russo can't hurt either. I feel a bit sorry for Jeff Jarrett though, the guy puts in the time (and money) to build up TNA and from all accounts, he's also getting forced out to make way for Hogan and Bischoff.

actually, i guess he's coming back along with them

Yeah, just read the latest Impact results, seems he's not done yet. Russo is apparently on the way out though.

I wonder how long till Hogan gets sick of it and then we get Invasion Part II

oo wait, they can replace ECW!

Re: WWE Thread

Perhaps then they can ditch both the ECW and TNA monikers.

Watching the WWE Championship segment on RAW, there was kind of an edge to Cena's character that came through when he was cutting his promo that I wish they'd expand upon. It's probably hard to do with the PG approach and all, but if they really wanted him to be The Rock or Stone Cold of his generation, then they'd run with more of a "I don't care who's with me or against me" attitude, no pandering to the crowd (and without all the ham) kind of gimmick. Book him to be a bit more vunerable, and keep the title off him for a while as they did with HHH. They do that, and they could have a face that appeals to everyone and gets over as a face with everyone.

I think that's the reason why he's getting booed. Because the WWE is making him the next Hogan/Rock/Stone Cold.

Sheamus is new WWE Champ o_O

very o_O

though, i thought that will change before the end of the night....but I dont think there is enough time for batista/taker, kofi/orton and the DX match along with a rematch in a half hour

edit: it goes to 11....my bad, they could fit in a rematch

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:01 pm

Don't think they're going that way. Maybe on RAW tomorrow.

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:22 pm

Cena said on RAW a few weeks ago that if he lost, we was using his rematch clause same-night

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:26 pm

Oh I didn't know that. Looks tight though, they just have half an hour for a Tag Team TLC Match left.

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:42 pm

i personally thought they were going to teddy long that shit and make Sheamus come back down to the ring for the immediate rematch

side comment....what a shitty table spot for that ending

and before this match ends, I wanted to predict that this is the match they re-split the tag titles from being unified

LOL, wrong....I Loved all the broken ladder spots they did at the end though,

was half expecting HHH to betray HBK at the end though

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:02 pm

Aside from the Heavyweight bout a pretty good PPV there. Plenty of new Champs, the DX one was pretty obvious. McIntyre and especially Sheamus winning was a suprise, I read there was even some backstage confusion about the Sheamus win, up until 6 PM the word was Cena would retain
was half expecting HHH to betray HBK at the end though

I can see that coming in the future. Split up and go into WrestleMania as Tag Champs, much like WM 23 with Cena and HBK.

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 2:46 pm

On one hand, Sheamus winning the championship is a good idea as it went against what I'm sure most of us were expecting and I'm sure a lot of people will be happy to see the title of Cena. However...it just feels way too soon, a desperate move to suggest that anything can happen and will probably just end up giving Cena yet another title reign. Just because it's unexpected and different doesn't automatically make it good, just like Sheamus' "unique" look doesn't automatically make him interesting. Within two months, he went from midcarder to the number one contender and WWE Champion, after a couple of months on ECW before that. I don't think it does much for the title, to me it reeks of a last minute "screw the dirt sheets" kind of booking and now they're stuck with it. Not a fan of that move, even if Cena needs to be booked out of the title picture for a while. But that's RAW for you.

I guess DX getting the tag titles (finally) will delay what seems to be the inevitable split for a little while longer. With HBK continuing to allude to taking time off after WM 26, it wouldn't surprise me if they drop the titles at the Rumble or Elimination Chamber (should've kept No Way Out as the name), HHH turn on HBK and then have them square off at Wrestlemania with HBK either being "retired" or at least "injured" by HHH while he takes time off.

So, is the new PPV recommendable to watch?

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:03 pm

I forgot that it will only be show to the Philippines tonight, well I'm gonna only watch the DX match not interested on Cena

It will? It will be on Jack TV? If that is then it sucks.

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 10:13 pm

it wasnt terrible, i can safely say that

Re: WWE Thread

Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:32 pm

Yeah, one of the better PPV's in recent memory. ECW Title match was a very good opener, although I think they still didn't get the best match that would have been possible with calibers of those two. I mean a ladders match between Christian and Shelton more importantly, sounded better than it lived up to be. Still a very good match though (aside the fact Banjmin didn't win ;))!
The other matches that were enjoyable the most for me was the Tag Team bout and the Kofi-Orton one. The WWE Title match was a good match simply because of the surprise factor.
Divas and Heavyweight Title matches were piss breaks, though.
