Manhoef's DEBUT in strikeforce against Lawler. Just like most of his fights, it ended in 1st round... but...
Leshley also won by KO in the first round. Cool...
Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:36 pm
Bobby Lashley VS Brett Rogers. They're actually planning on this card while Fabricio Werdum will fight against Fedor. Some great fucking fights to come. Fedor's fight against Werdum looks like official but Bobby's one is not yet, but will happen likely.
Tue Feb 02, 2010 10:14 pm
Enjoyede the strikeforce show. The women prolly had the best one.

Just watched 109, was as boring and uneventful as I expected it to be. Coleman and Couture was a joke from the start, Coleman's reactions are insanely slow these days. Though it did bring probably the most entertaining part of the entire night, the "Fuck you Tito" was gold. Chael Sonnen looked great but again added to the boredom since he just beat the shit out of Nate for 3 rounds. Maia won a crappy stand-up war and attempted zero submissions. I hate Mike Swick so I was glad Thiago took him out... rest was pretty crap. Rolles Gracie looked fucking terrible,
Tue Feb 09, 2010 7:18 am
Yeah, was boring.
I guess it's time for Coleman to really retire. He never had a legit place to train anyways. His legs are weak and slow. Too bad, but like White says, it's time.

Great PPV to bounce back. The only real shit fight was Cro Cop vs that Australian jobber (I've seen him fight before and thought he was shit, surprised he lasted so long) but the others were good, especially Sotiropoulos and Stevenson. I was a bit worried about the fight, I thought Stevenson might be a bit much of a leap but he dominated him.
Mon Feb 22, 2010 2:23 am
Wow. One of the best UFC event in a recent history I'd say. I enjoyed most of the cards and yeah Cro Cop's fight was bit disappointing. Perosh didn't really have time to prepare for the fight anyways, like 1 day or so. I wouldn't say it was a fair fight from the beginning.
It was also good to see Warderlei Silva the legend being able to fight at high level once again. He looked totally different. Rather than just charging in for the knock out, he fought really smart. His cardio obviously seemed better with fixed nose. I can't wait till his next fight. As for Nogueira, I think he was on the downhill of his career from quite awhile go. Not surprised to see Velasquez pwning him.

Georges St-Pierre vs. Dan Hardy tonight. Thoughts? Predictions?
Sun Mar 28, 2010 5:46 am
I think St-Pierre crushes him. I've never rated Hardy.
Looking forward to Mir vs Carwin more. Mir has quietened down a lot lately, not sure how that's going to affect him. I'm looking forward to seeing if he's gotten any bigger since the last fight, he looked enormous against Kongo.
Predictions:
GSP over Hardy
Mir over Carwin (Carwin is Brock Lesnar Lite, I think Mir could beat Brock Lesnar Lite)
Pellegrino over Camoes
Saunders over Fitch (upset pick, but Saunders is brutal when he wants to be)
Miller over Bocek
Almeida over Brown
Diaz over Markham (really hope Diaz loses though)
Wallace over Hamman (I guess)
Drwal over Palhares (wasn't Drwal the guy who put McFedries in that sick submission? That is the basis for this pick)
Soto over Riddle (I get the feeling they're feeding Riddle to Soto)
Sun Mar 28, 2010 1:34 pm
Wow thank god I didn't put any money on that. Carwin just destroyed Mir. There's no way he's 6'5 though.
Sun Mar 28, 2010 7:57 pm
I gotta admit that I gave an edge to Mir as well. That was not an impressive fight by Mir though. He just had no answers for Carwin's dirty boxing. Surprised to see him going down so early like that. He even took Brock to a decision before. Pretty crazy. Carwin is 35 however.
Sun Mar 28, 2010 9:25 pm
Mir didn't take Brock to a decision, he beat him then lost to him. First one was the first round, second fight was the second round. Herring is the one who took Brock to decision, though really he had the living shit pounded out of him that whole fight.
I was surprised Carwin's 35, really limited window for him. Though he seems to be in great shape.
Sun Mar 28, 2010 11:58 pm
Oh yeah, it was Heath Herring that took him to a decision. Yeah, I got confused a bit there. Thinking about it now, I thought Herring was going to win that fight since he had so much experience and Brock's only fight was against that Mr. Shark Kim. Brock then destroyed Mir in a dominant fashion and that also was impressive. Today's fight by Carwin also seemed similar to Brock VS Mir I thought. Carwin was in control from beginning to end. Mir perhaps is bad against strength based wrestlers like Carwin and Lesnar.

I felt he probably wants a shot at Brock sooner than later. All depending on Brock's health though. I don't think he'll ever be the same Lesnar anyways since his diet will probably force his size to be smaller. If he doesn't come back soon, I am guessing next biggest card Dana can draw is Dos Santos VS Shane Carwin.

Florian just pwned Gomi. Ring and octagon definitely are different but seems like Gomi is a has been already.
Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:46 pm
Florian bores the hell out of me for some reason. The Roy Nelson fight was awesome, I was expecting him to get his ass kicked.
Sun Apr 04, 2010 11:33 am
Ok. Not many here watch K-1... but anyways, Overeem, Hari, Schilt won as expected, but Kyotaro over the legent Aerts? He's old but still...
Good fights overall...
Overeem called Brett Rogers a coward, and they're working on it to make the fight between these two happen. I think Brett Will win, for the major fact that Overeem is more of a ring fighter, who likes to pressure opponent in a small confined area.

http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=EventDe ... e&eid=2890I have a feeling that the both champions will prevail quite easily without a problem.
Sat Apr 10, 2010 8:09 pm
Yeah same, this could potentially be a really awful card. If Silva/Maia and Penn/Edgar go to decision it'll be because one just dominated the other without finishing, like GSP/Hardy but that being said I can't see Silva not finishing a fight. I'm probably more interested in the undercard fights to be honest. Nick Osipczak, DaMarques Johnson, Jon Madsen etc. Gustafsson vs Davis could be great too.
Predictions:
Silva over Maia
Penn over Edgar
Hughes over Gracie (who is batshit insane by the way)
Etim over dos Anjos (I hope)
Grove over Mark Munoz
Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:07 am
WOWWWWWWWW Edgar???
Sun Apr 11, 2010 5:57 am
Wtf was that from Silva? I came so close to shelling out the $40 to watch that PPV, glad I saw it illegally now.
Sun Apr 11, 2010 8:57 pm
WTF!!!! ON MY PENN... HOW DA...
I missed the fights, so I'm going to see the vids later, but it's just a shocker and disheartening since he sort of was becoming a likeable fighter to me.
Jae wrote:glad I saw it illegally now.
darn it jae. that was pretty close to be quoted in the sig of shadowgrin.
Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:22 pm
To be honest after having watched it in full I probably wouldn't bother downloading it. Save your bandwidth, try to find a youtube video of Grove/Munoz and Maia/Silva (just to see what all the fuss is about). Penn/Edgar was pretty uneventful, but I think Edgar deserved the decision. He did take BJ down for what was apparently the first time in 6 years any lightweight had done so, so that was cool to see.
Wed Apr 14, 2010 4:38 pm
Wow... Munoz fight was awesome. Coming back from behind like that takes a lot of guts and heart. That was one of the best matches I've seen lately.
About Frank, I was surprised of his footwork and stamina. He just wore Penn down. Penn was just looking for an opening from beginning to end. Penn also looked bit slow, and almost seemed to be limping at times. I think his knee band says something. Maybe he was injured. I can't say for sure, but a boring fight overall and I thought decision could have gone either way, since round 5 belonged to Edgar, but couldn't be said same for first 4 rounds. Anyways, if they fought again, I think it'll be Penn or at least I root for him.
Another thing is I didn't like how Dana talked on Silva after the fight. Silva obviously fought the way he knows the best. He doesn't have to take a chance going for a KO as long as he's winning. Maia was losing, Maia was the one that had to be more aggressive and take more chances. And about Silva toying with Maia, I thought it was a tactic and a showmanship. By doing that, he was also taking chances too. It's not like he was giving Maia a finger after the fight, though I understand why Maia would feel upset.a
Wed Apr 14, 2010 6:30 pm
What I found weird about Dana's reaction is that he didn't just hate the last 3 rounds when Silva just ran around the cage, he hated the first two where he was showboating and stuff. I loved it and the fans there seemed really into it as well, so I have no idea why he'd be unhappy about it.

Exactly, what I mean. Him doing that took more than showmanship, but huge risk as well. Though, it was a classless act, that's how it is in the octagon anyways.
Silva running around the cage sure was a disappointment but that's how it is, as long as a fighter can win, I don't blame him doing that, it happens anywhere else, even in K-1 these days. In Pride, the stage was smaller and they also often gave out yellow cards to the passive fighters. If Dana hates it so much, he should think about a rule change. After all, fighter fights to win in any way possible.
