Indeed. Just make sure you've got the weapons and ammo to take care of the ants and be careful. Carrying a fair amount of stimpaks is definitely advisable, plus the fire ant nectar can help boost your fire resistance so loot it from the fire ant carcasses.

The soldier ants are obviously stronger opponents than the workers. If your character's Sneak skill is high, crouch and stay hidden and shoot the ants for an automatic critical hit.

When confronted with a few of them, you can also aim for their antennas and cause them to frenzy and start attacking one another, which should leave you with one weakened ant to dispose of.

Yes, definitely use VATS to shoot the antenna. You don't have to, but it'll be a lot more precise.

Finally finished the tiring Nuka-Cola Challenge. The crashed truck near Old Olney helped complete the quest. (Y)

Well I pretended that I didn't know about the quest as I stocked the Quantums inside my Megaton Shack refrigerator, and gave all 18 at my first arrival at Girdershade.

That's kind of what I did on my last playthrough. Makes it a lot easier to have collected a bunch of them before you get the quest. Of course, now I've got the Quantum Chemist perk so after every tenth Nuka-Cola that goes in the inventory, I get another Quantum.

Never a fan of grenades but the Nuka Grenade has a DAM of 337 with fire damage per second. I only have one, but "tested" it on the folks of Megaton, and reloaded the game afterwards.

You should hit Level 30 by the end of it.

I've received a complimentary Fallout 3 theme from XBL, by virtue of downloading all five DLCs. Nothing too exciting, but free stuff is free stuff.

As I mentioned in another thread, I picked up the GOTY edition for the PC to test out my new system. This time I'm building my character a little more slowly, really only focusing on the skills that I make use of the most (since I already maxed out my 360 character) and selecting "flavour" perks such as Lady Killer and Child at Heart; basically the things I've skipped over in the past, just to see what they're like.

Just tried it to see how it runs on my new videocard. Wow, everything maxed plus eyecandy at 60 fps. Yum. Glad I waited to try out broken steel.

I've only got a 9500 GT so I've had to scale it back. It wasn't too bad maxed out, but not quite smooth enough to play.

I was playing that game months ago. Maxed out Small Guns, Big Guns, Speech, Science, Medicine, Lockpick, Repair and Sneak while everything else is at least 50. It's definitely getting harder to level up and I have burned through a fair few quests so the last ten levels added by Broken Steel could be a bit lengthy. I like it so much.

No Mutants Allowed Review of Fallout 3

Mixed review from the biggest Fallout fan site on the internet. Makes some very valid points. I still like Fallout 3 because its a fun, engrossing game, but compared to its predecessors, it is dumbed down considerably. Good read though.

It does make some valid points indeed, but at times it borders on Fan Dumb, as TV Tropes would put it. In all fairness I'd probably have similar feelings if I'd gotten into the initial Fallout games all those years ago (though having given them a try again recently I've warmed up to them a bit) but I think a lot of the criticism stems from the simple fact it's different and for a wider audience than just fans of the old games, which is a bit elitist.

I'm kind of inclined with the guy who posted that. Surely I enjoyed 3, but having played the previous ones I can say Fallout 3 is fairly easy. Colonel Autumn for a boss?

I played Fallout 3 first, but after a learning curve I fell for F1 and F2. Fallout 3 is a great game, and one hot summer week I put 70 hours into it (!), but in terms of depth and story, it pales in comparison. Most people on the forums there bash the game at all times, but at least that review praised the side-quest design (which is great). Right now I'm going through the first two again, this time trying out with an evil female character.

Looking forward to New Vegas. Hope to see some news on it soon.
