So has some one of you heard of Adam Tensta? He will feature the 2k10 soundtrack and his album "A Tensta Thing" is really great.

No disrespect, I usually like some of the music that you listen to, but those two videos you posted are so shitty, I couldn't listen to neither one for longer than 40 secs.

On a sidenote, Kamaal The Abstract is a pretty dope album I'd definitely recommend.

Well youre coming from the side of hip hop, whilst I would never declare this sound hip hop. For me this is more like a mixture of house and some rhymes. It's just fun to listen to it.

Kamaal The Abstract has it's highlight but I simply cant help myself with Q-Tip ... I love him on so many ATCQ tracks I cant even name them all. But on his solo LPs he has always kind of disappointed me.

No I'm not. I'm not coming from any side. I don't care about genres, I just go with what I like and what I don't like. And whatever you wanna call that dude's music, I definitely don't like it.

I thought Amplified was a little weak. But The Renaissance is a classic (hell, it's even better than most Tribe albums) and Kamaal The Abstract was pretty fresh and unique, I definitely enjoyed that one.

Which tracks make The Renaissance a classic in your opinion?

I really like "Gettin Up" and "Move" but with tracks like "Life Is Better" or "We Fight/We Love" its really depeding on my mood. Theyre just too slow to listen to them every now and then. I guess most music depends on your mood but I really think the whole album is quite slow and romantic.

And what you guys think about Blueprint 3? I know there is an extra thread but imho this thread sucks. After giving it some shots I am not sure wether or not this album can keep up with older Jay-Z LPs but I guess not.

As Tall As Lions - You Can't Take It With You

Another ridiculously classy release from the New Yorkers. Not as catchy as their previous one, a bit more artsy so it takes a few times listening to it, but it's certainly worth it. For fans of The Dear Hunter and Codeseven.

It's not single songs that make an album classic, it's the album as a whole. To me The Renaissance is just perfect for various reasons.

The timing was perfect with mainstream hip-hop no longer being hip-hop but "blacker" pop music. And all of a sudden you got Q-Tip coming back from a long hiatus sounding exactly like back in the days with the Tribe.

If A Tribe Called Quest was to release an album these days this is what I would expect it to sound like. Using slightly more modern beats but still staying true to theirselves and what they're known for. And that's exactly what The Renaissance is like.

There's not a single track that I didn't like. Seriously. No fillers at all, just perfection from beginning to end. To me the most stand-out tracks are the Renaissance Rap (by far the sickest track on the album), Official, Won't Trade, Dance On Glass and Life Is Better. Tip just killed every single song with his calm delivery and well balanced flow while using the whole spectrum of rhyme schemes.

The production is top notch. Not only are all the beats high quality and perfect for Q-Tip's flow but all the beats from the differents track fit together as a whole. That makes The Renaissance seem like one big piece of music and not just a compilation of songs.

Another very big plus is that there were no featured rappers on this album. These days there are way too many features. It's almost ridiculous to use the term "solo album" for some rappers' projects these days.

Gave black card boy by Little Wayne a listen. It fucking sucked. Avoid at all cost.

Next up was Guest Starring Weezy. Only had 2 songs I didn't like. Nice collection of songs on there.

Debut solo album by the Strokes frontman leaked this morning. A listen in and I love it. 11th Dimension is still my favorite single of the year (even edging out 1901), and the rest of the album is catchy as well. Its a summer album, so it sucks it didn't leak 3 months ago, but nonetheless enjoyable.

Standout Tracks: Left & Right In The Dark, 11th Dimension, Tourist

Bump!

...And You Shall Know By The Trail of Dead - "Source Tags & Codes" (2002)
Image

This LP rocks. Been listening to it non-stop all week. I don't like hard rock - at all, but this album has won me over in a big way. Unlike the rest of Trail Of Dead's albums, this music is less hardcore, and more art rock that frequently veers into the higher tempo (and features some screaming). Every song is melodic, and well-written. While the LP has its own distinct overarching sound, each track brings something different to the table. Opener "It Was There That I Saw You" is a pumping powerhouse of a song, and is followed by an even better track in mellow single "Another Morning Stoner". Lead single "Relative Ways" and epic closer "Source Codes & Tags" are my favorite tracks however.

I'm not very good at writing music reviews, so I'll cut it short by saying: Check this album out now!

Rating: 10/10 | Highlight Tracks: Another Morning Stoner, Days Of Being Wild, Relative Ways, Source Codes & Tags

That's a good album actually. I remember getting it back in the day, parts of it were reminding me of At The Drive-In. Not sure "hard rock" really defines this though... :P

Mute Math - Armistice

I think they're a really good blend of pop, alternative rock with some cool (but not overdone) experimentation of different instruments and sounds.

The perfect music to play when you're taking a walk somewhere.

Puscifer - "C" Is For (Please Insert Sophomoric Genitalia Reference Here)

What to say about Maynard Keenan's (Tool/APC) seemingly absurd side-project? Well, this 2nd release is actually more "serious" than the first one ("V" is for Vagina), and it actually sounds really good. A good review can be found here.

^OH snap. Will have to cop that. Didn't even know they had a new one.

For anyone who likes orchestral trailer music-

ES Posthumus - Cartographer
Most of you have heard music from them in trailers, but may have not known it.

Just recently found Corner Stone Cues - Requiem for a Tower, and it is up there with ES Posthumus in terms of quality trailer music.

This leaked yesterday. I love Spoon, and this is a bit of a departure for them. Really love it though. Nine days in, this is my AOTY frontrunner. Favorite tracks are "Is Love Forever", "Mystery Zone" and "Written In Reverse"

Can't go wrong with QOTSA's Josh Homme, Foo Fighters' Dave Grohl, and Led Zep's John Paul Jones. Really cool stuff.

Yep, downloaded it a couple of days ago. I'm really not into rock, as everyone here in the forum knows by now, I'm more into electronic / dance / house music, but I really liked the album (Y)

On topic, if I had to recommend something, it would be former pr0n actress, now DJ, Niki Belucci... just YouTube her... and I think most of you know N.A.S.A.

Buckethead Discography

Some of my favourite albums are Electric Tears, Colma, A Real Diamond in the Rough, Population Override, Crime Slunk Scene, Albino Slug, The Elephant Man's Alarm Clock, Enter The Chicken.

He has such a wide range of sounds and techniques. He can shred with the best of them or he can play with such emotion.

Make up your own minds :)
