Xbox 360/ Xbox Live Questions

Postby scrub on Wed Nov 21, 2007 8:37 am

Getting one this xmas and have a few questions.

Is transferring data from the internet to your 360 easy or hard to do such as getting roster updates?

What is the easiest way to get roster updates etc for games from the internet to your 360?

Also is the equipment for Xbox Live expensive?

Is the equipment hard to setup?

You just need to plug the ethernet cord from your xbox 360 to a router, or wall outlet.

Roster updates usually come from microsoft servers and are downloaded via the game menus of your game.

And it is expensive for periphals. The wireless adapter and hdd are so overpriced its absurd.

All accessories for the 360 are expensive, but that's no different to Apple or Sony...
Yeah the Wireless adapter is $169 of here, fuuuuck!
VGA HD Cable $50 is also way too much...

Of course its no real different to any company. But the periphals are expensive.

And you can get a 3rd party vga cable for around $25 here.

I got the PS3 on Tuesday. :)

Got Fifa 08 and Madden NFL 08 but returned Madden and got Def Jam: Icon last night, will most likely be returning that as well since I finished the main mode. Any ideas on what to get ? I was thinking of getting Splinter Cell Double Agent.

Share your thoughts.

Call of duty 4, Rainbow 6 vegas... um, there arent very many good games on the ps3. NBA 2K8 is ok... Resistance is good and Motorstorm isnt too bad.

But as I just said, there arent any definitive must get titles on the ps3.

There's afew pretty good titles that are coming out or are already out.

Uncharted Drakes Fortune - Really interesting, movie like epic game, just play the demo , It'll kind of show you what the games all about. My friend and a couple other people on the internet have said they weren't really interested in the demo, but bought the game anyways and love it now.

Call of Duty 4 / Rainbow 6 - Both great online FPS, both have pretty good single player (COD4 especially). I prefer CoD just for the polish of the game, but I was really into R6 for awhile.

NBA 2k8 - Nothing needs to be said.

Assassins Creed - Seems interesting, if you like Prince of Persia, you'll most likely like this game.

UT3 - Comes out soon, another good online based FPS, not my type of game, though many like it.

Folklore / Oblivion - Two very different RPG's. Both very very good though.

Resistance / Motorstorm- Two very exceptional launch titles. Resistance is great online, deec single player. I've never played Motorstorm but it sounds pretty good. But I honestly don't know many people that play it.

Honestly if your into:
FPS - CoD4
RPG - Folklore or Oblivion
Action/adventure - Assassins Creed / Uncharted (personally I'd pick Uncharted as Assassins Creed apparently gets pretty repetitive.

Question: For your gamertag, how do you build up your reputation?
How do you get more stars?

The longer you play the more rep you recieve also when ppl review you if affects your rep so say you cheese on 2k8 and the other person plays properly he might give you a bad review thus your rep declines or doesnt increase.

To save time on making a new topic i thought i could just post here/

When i go to play halo 3 online, half the time, right before the game starts my internet disconnects and then reconnects instantaneously which results in me leaving the game, thus causing my xp to go down. This only happens about half the time. When i go to play halo at a friends place with my hardrive this does not occur.
When i play other games online such as NBA 2K8, nothing happens i just play.
This also happens for Rainbow Six: Vegas

Can anyone state the problem?....i think it could be my router.

P.S. - I have a netgear router.

Nope not wireless but the modem has wireless compatibility.

Edit: It also just happened on 2K8. So I'm guessing it's my modem.

hey guys, ive got a mate going over to Thailand for a holiday and hes planning on buying a few xbox 360s for myself and him from there, but we have a few concerns...

the region in thailand is PAL isn't it? ive done a fair bit of Google searching and ive figured that it should be

is it really cheaper to buy consoles, etc.. in Thailand? does any one live there and could give a approximate price in AUD

I would imagine the warranty would not be claimable in Australia....I would've thought Thailand would be NTSC like the rest of Asia....seems strange....do you think there will be any problems for him bringing them back in? I think you can only bring back goods of no more than $900-$1,000 otherwise you get hit with duties and GST and stuff....

I've never tried it but I'm guessing it's a matter of viewing the contents of your HD, selecting the game in question and deleting the update if it's present. I could be way off though.

Yes, but it will unpatch every game that has been patched, and Live will patch itself again once you are connected to xbox live. I think it clears xbox updates, too, but I am not sure about that.
