Naw, I don't think so. Kids aren't more clever these days, they're more dumb

And yet, you hate
Celtic Pride!
Well, in all fairness you're not alone there. I'd say I'm in the minority as someone who likes it.

Saw Speed Racer tonight. It was a good time. Dont go in expecting a great movie. Enjoy the car tricks, the horribly bad cliches, and alot of the speed racer theme.

Saw Speed Racer tonight.
It apparently did miserably at the box office. What happened to the Wachowski bros, they had all the right cards in their hands after the first Matrix and everything went downhill from there...
I rented The Savages, pretty depressing movie but great acting from the almighty Phillip Seymore Hoffman and Laura Linney.
I also saw Lions For Lambs, I was expecting to really enjoy it but was quite disappointed with it. It was just too simplistic, basic and really lacked subtlety in my opinion. The acting was alright but the situations were just too unrealistic.

Had a "chick flick" marathon with couple friends. Watched Enchanted, P.S. I Love You, and No Reservations. I have to say Enchanted and P.S. I Love You were very enjoyable. Enchanted brought back great memories of the old Disney movies, while the latter was funny, charming, and sad at the same time. As for No Reservations I kind of fell asleep halfway though and woke up by them hitting me in the face with pillows.
Now that school's almost finished, might head to the threatre more often to catch some of the new releases.

Last 3: The Usual Suspects, Superbad & Se7en. I had a movie-gasm in the last couple days.
Tue May 20, 2008 12:23 pm
i too just watched ps i love you and i agree, it was a good movie. i really enjoy these chick flicks that i can actually stand to watch with my wife lol.
usual suspects is a fucking great movie, must watch for all
Tue May 20, 2008 2:30 pm
I think Usual suspects was ruined by the fact i knew the ending. I was underwhelmed. ...and I am also curious, not to hijack the thread or anything, but how is this different from the movie thread?

went on a Bruce Lee movie spree.
I watched The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, The Way of The Dragon, and Game of Death.
Big Boss was quite entertaining because of the tremendous amounts of fake blood during the fight scenes.
The Way of the Dragon was probably the best of the bunch. It was the first movie directed/written/produced by Bruce Lee and it had a lot of humor. the Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris fight was classic.
Game of Death was disappointing. I knew Lee died during the production but I never knew that the story was rewritten and only 12 minutes of actual Bruce Lee footage was used. They actually used video from his funeral in the movie.

I finally saw the beginning of The Machinist, I had only seen the second half. Such a badass movie, incredible performance by Bale and great story overall. One of my faves for sure.

Got a bunch of movies from a friend's HD, so in the past couple days watched The Forbidden Kingdom (good, but didn't like the fact that everyone in ancient china instantly knew English), Horton Hears a Who (amazing), Kung Fu Dunk (like Shaolin Soccer meets basketball), and a bunch of anime. Also friend made me watch Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights 2 or something, not bad.

There's no difference. Some people were upset about creating an Entertainment Talk forum. It might be the reason why General Talk has been dead lately.

that's why i prefer to watch Chinese movies in their native language with english subtitles.
funny thing about that is in the old days, American companies would make movies about China (see "The Good Earth") and they had American actors portray Chinese people over asian-looking people (like American-born Anna May Wong). Seems like American movie makers and movie goers have stopped enjoying those. Now we have to rely on imported movies for that kind of stuff.

Now there's nothing wrong with making a thread for a specific movie (ala Dark Knight) this is just for the "group blog" for random comments what people last watched. (Or apparently, also, what they plan to watch.)

But ok why did we remove the movie thread and music thread if we're gonna have this thread and the Music Recommendation Thread? was it just so the thread wasnt hundreds of pages long?

Because nobody cared enough to stop them from respawning?

I finally got around to buying I am legend on BD, and I was disappointed. The movie was good, but I hate uber depressing shit like that.

Heh, I remember watching The Teahouse of the August Moon, which is a very good movie, by the way, and it stars Marlon Brando portraying a Japanese villager. I couldn't help but laugh sometimes even though Brando's performance and interpretation was really good.

Saw Indy today....
WHAT THE FUCK ARE ALIENS DOING IN INDIANA JONES MOVIES? GOD FREAKING DAMN. LUCAS NEEDS HIS NUTS CUT OFF. Anyway, on top of that: it could've been well done if it hadnt been said from the first 20 seconds that you were in roswell, if Indy just sorta got dragged into it. Lets add a kid, bring back the girl, and a schizophrenic and make a new indy movie!!!
Fri May 23, 2008 11:59 am
I've seen a number of people saying it was like Lucas and Spielberg are mocking the trilogy.
Sat May 24, 2008 12:21 am
Both Spielberg and Lucas love aliens.
Finally saw Iron Man after weeks of fasting. The movie was great, all flashy CG's are kewl as hell, and the use of Black Sabbath's music in the credits is just badass.

That film was supposed to be Slam Dunk the movie (based from the anime/manga) but the producers thought it would bring more money if they copied Shaolin Soccer. Damn them.
Watched Casino again.
I think Joe Pesci is only one of a few handful of actors that can act alongside De Niro and be good doing it.

Probably confused the hell out of the poor blockbuster guy. I rented Enchanted, Ratatouille and Alvin and the Chipmunks. All not bad kids movies. Certainly not "wow that was hysterical" but all pretty much stayed way from more than 1 or 2 fart jokes and tried tell stories about families, fairy tales, and following your dreams. I have no beef with that.
But i also bought shoot em up, walk hard, and Into the Wild
Mon Jun 02, 2008 4:58 am
Shoot Em Up was quite interesting. it's been a while since ive seen it but I remember the ridiculousness was Die Hard-esque.
c'mon now, Clive Owen is in a gun battle while fucking a girl? and manages to kill all the bad guys while finishing himself off? lol
